If you are taking a class that uses Adobe Illustrator exclusively, I think you do not have much choice here if you want to get the most out of it.

    Hi everyone!
Hope you are having a great weekend. Well, I wanted to share something I did and something new for me: drawing a Pug using a "Kawaii style". The intention is to create a character and then having said character in different moods and situations (like Facebook stickers).
As I said, this style is something new for me, so any feedback and tip will be appreciated.

    Best regards!

Blending a mass of shapes, (raymondemery, thanks for your post) Massive self-indulgence, eye candy if you will. Might eventually find a use for the tool marks made in the blending playground.

I've been working on this for a few months and is the most complicated drawing I've done so far. I had thought about doing it before but knew it would be a ton of work, in reality it was about 10 tons, seemed never ending.

I decided to just do the front half to better show off the engine but I could re-use much of it if I ever wanted to do the whole car. As before it's just the pen tool, gradients, blurs and blend modes, so anyone could do it.

    Hope you like.

As usual click to open, then click to display full size (although the actual output's a lot, lot larger).

Here's the template as a PDF.

They also had the layer named -DO NOT TOUCH-Template visible but not printable, so you may wish to set it back once in AD.

As regards CS6--this is something Adobe did back around CS6, make AI files non-openable in older versions. Part of the "you have to subscribe" thing. They suck. I also stopped at CS6. I opened the AI file in CorelDraw...

I'm always amazed with the things you can do with blend modes. This is just 4 circles, multiplied and repeated on a 9° rotation. So simple. So beautiful.

Instead of master pages you can create a page-sized symbol (transparent rectangle) and place things there. It won't update your page numbers but might at least be a work-around for graphic elements.

I made a 48 pages document with Designer. It has some thinks you have to do manually but it's still doable.

Looking and the given examples, I made this one version. I don't know if it's more professional or well made but I believe that people love round figures.

By the way, the Adobe icons are the ones that look so out of place, if you ask me, next to the System Preferences.
    Best regards!

Well, that was more of a hypothetical question. Fact is, the design can be completely arbitrary because there is no “general guideline” which an icon has to follow.
By the way: you can change the application icon yourself if you really don’t like it. I believe this has also been explained earlier in this thread.

    Hi WebEngineer,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
The Affinity icons are now quite recognisable and well established, changing them to something else may not be that good.
But why don't you give it a go/try? Even if just for learning the program/fun. Just remember they belong to a suite so must share a common visual language and have an unifying concept.

Personally, I hope the logos stay as is for this reason. We all know how programs change after so many years (UI, logo, tools), and then it causes stress to the customers having to learn and get use to new styles. If any changes are to be done, they can't be too out of its original theme.

I understand what you say, Mark. And I really appreciate your effort and I engourage you to keep the good work.
Now, about this feature, the talk we had with Ben left me thinking about some things:
It's something that covers several use cases and it's used by a lot of people (I've read on the Internetz). It's not just that it's used, it's an important part of technical drawing and design workflows; even to the point that that single feature will prevent someone from adopting Designer. Maybe Ben or some of us don't use nor understand the full impact this has, but I can tell you that I remember scenarios where I would have loved to count with this. So, I encourage the Team to consider this little thing and what it represents. After that, I hope you integrate this in your internal roadmap and see it in a future release.
    Best regards!
    P. S.: I ignore if Photoshop has this, but I also hope seeing this one in Photo.
