You can read about them here.
Hi, Ash.As promised yesterday, I will share if this sounds good to me, and it sounds OK. Here is why:
- Pledge 1: The perpetual Licensing model is what attracted people in the first place, but I feel like if some kind of subscription appears, it will be seen as a Red Flag if offered from you. If Canva is the one adding the Affinity Suite with their current Pricing Plans, well, that'd be seen like an addition. Still, I've read some comments that the Canva Team has changed pricing policies and this will still keep us watching closely.
- Pledge 2: Keeping Affinity as it is also key: installed locally with no need of being connected to the Internet (except when activating the Product). Now, regarding the development and the speed in which new versions are delivered: we will see if more money brings that but I'm not sure that we'll see Features coming twice as fast or double of them in the same period of 3 moths (roughly) when new releases come out, as an example.
- Pledge 3: I like this one. Hope it works great
- Pledge 4: This is a complex one, because as you know, people have been really vocal about demanding Features in the forums, so there are features (as the one you mention on Pledge 2) that you are aware that people want for yesterday. I will take y time to fill the form you provided as well.
We'll see if these pledges even last in the coming years.
Best regards!

Yes I do! Realise there seems to be a distinct lack of faith flying around here, but we'll be revealing more about our plans in the coming days and yes I'm sure you will all be pleased with what we have to say.
I'll let you know if that sounds good to me.
How it turns out in the end will be another converation.

Turn the discussion towards the future of the products as a whole; it's not certain there will be any product to cry over the price of in 5 years.
To me, that's a given. FreeHand will come to many's mind.

Hi, Ash.
9 minutes ago, Ash said:I honestly think you'll all be pleased with the outcome of this
That's yet to be seen.
9 minutes ago, Ash said:Realise this announcement has come as a surprise
The only surprises that I like are for birthday parties.
10 minutes ago, Ash said:I understand the feeling of uncertainty
And that's because we've seen this story time and time again.
11 minutes ago, Ash said:I do think it's all very positive for the company and our customers.
I'm truly thankful for all you've done since the first Beta of Affinity Designer up until yesterday, but I'm afraid we'll come back to this conversation down the road and talk about the new surprises we'll see.
Bes regards!

- HEADLINES - ZT Formom

Thank you for your response. My question pertains to the preferance between the types of fonts—such as Free or Open Source Fonts—as mentioned by @Mithferion in the initial post, and their sources.
Hi!
Fonts that are being published under the SIL Open Font License can be considered the "safest", meaning that you can create Documents, Logos, Images or Videos with them with no worries at all, which are the main things you could create as a designer. But other free Fonts can include such terms and rights so that's why they can be just as safe to use. For example, I can consider that Ilisarniq's License is safe to use for Design purposes (see the EULA section). But still, Fonts that are not freely available under the SIL Open Font License could include some kind of limitations, it's best to take a look at what they allow you to do.
Hope that helps.

Hi there!
I was remembering this Feature request where there is a video demo of the required functionality, and while I still think this would be a great addition I asked myself: could this possibly be done right now? And it can, sort of. See video below:
As you can see, after you set the Donut Tool, you can switch between it and the Point Transform Tool to create the curves.
The bad:
- You need to switch constantly between Tools
- There is no snapping to any intersecting line
- You have to delete segments to have a single line in the curved line
BUT I think the good news is that:
- It can be done
- It's fun
- I hope this encourages the Devs to spend some time in it given that it doesn't seem to be that far away

Hi!
Some Typefaces get updated over time and expanded as well. That's the case for the Ubuntu Typeface and it's presented as Ubuntu Sans. It now has 16 styles for the normal width and 16 for the Condensed version. It's available in the GutHub repo:
- Direct download link: https://github.com/canonical/Ubuntu-Sans-fonts/releases/tag/v1.004
Very good news for those who use it and love it.

For most parts – although Serif isn't necessarily consequent here – are panels actually object inspectors: select an object(s) and a panel would display the editable attributes of the selection.
In a way, it'd be similar to the Isometric Panel where you perform actions but I get your point that that's the case for the most part.

The thing here would be: How many panel modifications are an Undo step? Or where does "Restore" begin?
I'd think that it begins the moment when you have your selection and you make your first move. I know it's not perfect but other than what options do we have? I myself am not fan of floating windows.

Yep. Unless you press the Cancel button.
Ah, that's true. Didn't think of that.
I'd think that an option called "restore" in the hypotetical Panel would suffice but I'm guessing you wouldn't be a fan of that.

But then every change would be immediately live which I don't consider a good idea in this special case.
I, for one, actually prefer the Apply/Cancel solution which is more transparent than just doing an Undo upon a failed alignment attempt.Maybe there is something that I'm missing but when using the Alignment Panel, it does make the changes live and it leaves them there.
Any chance you can upload a video showing how you use it?Best regards!

There is a thing why it shouldn't be a "regular" panel:
The Apply/Cancel buttons.Regular Studio panels don't and shouldn't have these buttons.
But it should be a regular floating window with these buttons, available from a menu.
Good point. In Inkscape, there is no need for those buttons, so there shouldn't be there if they create a dedicated Panel:

It's good because it's good. It'd be better if they've done this before, but still, I don't see any harm.
