Designer does not have any macro capability. Photo does have macros but they are largely recording keystrokes and clicks that you would make on a menu entry. Macros can also record formulae and I find them especially useful in recording effects from Filter > Distrort > Equations. I have created a fair number of macros, many available in these foruums, but so far, none that I would consider worth selling. John

Localizable Sentences and Esperanto
John Rostron replied to William Overington's topic in Share your work
I asked this question, and was given the answer of a simple Publisher document. The invitation at the beginning of the Share Your Work forum invites members to offer their designs for appraisal. This could be for us to appraise the finished product ot the techniques used to produce it. The document offered for appraisal seems very simple, almost trivial in technical terms. (Even I could have created this.) Yet, it seems to have generated a good number of responses (especially from the OP). None of these seem relevant to the purpose of the Share Your Work thread. I would considerer this an inappropriate use of this forum. I would be interested to hear what other contributors feel before I report this to the moderators. John- 59 replies

Localizable Sentences and Esperanto
John Rostron replied to William Overington's topic in Share your work
Perhaps it is because, like me, people cannot understand what you are taking about. Even after googling the phrase. PS, what is the work you are sharing? John- 59 replies

Editing an existing Document
John Rostron replied to pjs787's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
You do not say what kind of change you old be making. I would suggest that your solution could be to use html and css. Set the image as the background to a div. Set the contents of the div to the text you want. Use css to set the size of the div and position the text within the div. To change the text, it is just a matter of editing the html. John -
Windows ARM64
John Rostron replied to JaronRH's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
That is not how I read the query. What the OP wrote was: "I would really like to see native ARM64 support for my Windows Pro X." No mention of Affinity. John -
Windows ARM64

What has this to do with Affinity? It is a question that should be directed to Microsoft. John -
The vectorization option
John Rostron replied to Thierry Ak's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
Vectorizaton has been sort-of promised for some time now. In the sense of "Yes we would like to do this but don't hold your breath." Users are recommended to use alternative stand-alone software, see: -
The selection that you are rotating is only 50 or so pixels across so it is not surprising the the anti-aliasing that it introduces is rather conspicuous. There was already some anti-aliasing in the original image (which will have been optimised for the original position), so adding more will not help as much as it might otherwise have done. John

"Zooming out" brain teaser
John Rostron replied to nickbatz's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Like others, I'm not too sure what the OP wants. However I would suggest using Resize Document with Resampling and trying the various rescaling algorithms. John -
New From Scanner
John Rostron replied to Mike Taylor's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
Most scanning software has the option of opening the saved image automatically in the photo editor of your choice. Not what you were after, but it works well for me. John -
Having trouble saving as a jpg
John Rostron replied to Rasteely's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I'm sure that this is an Operating System foible and nothing to do with Affinity. I find that, from time to time, my OS (Windows 10 Home), resets the image file types to Affinty Photo File, and I have to go through the hoops again to change it to Jpeg or Tiff or whatever. The problem being that I can never remember how to do that. Setting "Show file extensions" is such a no-brainer that I often forget that there are some Windows users who still do not have this selected. John -
Focus AND Exposure Stacking
John Rostron replied to CybrSlydr's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hello @CybrSlydr, and welcome to the forums. Thinking about this from first principles I can think of no good reason to perform the two merges in a particular order. It will very much depend on how the exposure distribution relates to the focus distribution: are your more distant components more or less exposed than the nearer components? This is a case of 'Try it and see' and, of course, report your findings back here. John -
3 tools I miss - a suggestion
John Rostron replied to SonjaThompson's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
I would particularly like to see the 'Replicate' tool. This would help a lot when producing many copies of illustrations for children's craft work. John -
