Affinity Designer / anti-aliasing
John Rostron replied to Designer1's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop
@Designer1, these two images look the same to me apart from the colour. It is not really a fair comparison to have one dark blue and the other grey. John -
Hello @GranJen, and welcome to the forums. What Resources are you trying to download? From the Resources in this forum? From the Affinity Store? You should aim for a meaningful Title for your Thread, such as "How do I download resources?". You are not the first to use 'Mrs' in the Title field. We agree that it is confusing for beginners, but it is beyond Serif 's control. John

Each image should have a tab (bearing the file name) at the top, just below the context bar. Click on the tab to reveal the image. John -

John Rostron replied to Tim Eagan's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hello @Tim Eagan, and welcome to the forums. Load both of your images into Affinity. Before you do anything else, you should ensure that both images are the same resolution (dpi). You can do this using Document > Resize Document. Leave the size values the same, but untick the Resample box, then enter the desired dpi if needed. Select the left-hand iimage and use Document > Resize Canvas. Tick the little square centre-left in the set of nine squares in the array. Click on the lock between the width and height boxes to ensure that these two are independant. Enter a value in the width box about twice (or more) the current width. (or you can enter 200%) and press Resize. Now select the right-hand image and copy it (Cmnd-A, then Cmnd-C). Go back to the left-hand image and paste (Cmnd-V). Use the Move tool to move the right-hand image to the right to the desired position. I find it convenient to use the arrow keys. Use Shift-RightArrow to move quickly, then just RightArrow for more precise positioning. Use either up and down keys if you need to. You can now Merge, Merge Visible or Flatten should you wish for a single-layered image. By the way, you should really use a more meaningful title in your post. 'Subcon' could refer to subcontractor or subconcious, but not "How do I get two images side by side in one image". John -
It looks as if the image that you have uploaded to Facebook is an .afphoto file. This is what you get when you Save or Save as from Affinity Photo. You presumably want to save as a .jpg file. Do this by using File > Export. This gives you the option of various file formats, and the option of controlling the jpg quality. John

I have been refurbishing my laptop (W10) and went to store.affinity.serif com to download the lastest, 1.91 versions of your software. But when I got there, the cupboard was bare! I am presented with an empty blue-black screen with no text or graphics. There is a footer at the bottom with the expected links, but nothing elsewhere. I see this in both Chrome and Edge browsers on this laptop. My Android Tablet, with Chrome displays OK, as do the pages on my Desktop computer with Chrome. Other web pages, including this forum display OK. The links in my original purchase email, and in this forum on the download/purchase page also lead to this blank screen. John

I saw your link and thought that I would have a quick look. I ended up reading the whole lot in one go. I found it very well written and easy to read and understand. Well done! John

The plugins that we are discussing in this forum are those that plug into Affinity Photo, so your question is irrelevant. If you can upgrade your hardware (more memory or a faster CPU) that would help, but it is not usually essential. John

Hello, and welcome to the forums. Could I suggest that you change your user name. The one you have at present only makes sense for this posting. Look at the names people have used in this forum, from their real name (like mine) to the fanciful. You may find that you cannot change your name until after a few postings. Sorry I cannot help you. I am a Windows user! John

Scrambled file names
John Rostron replied to segref's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
The order in which file tabs are displayed is the order in which they are delivered by the Operating System. Photo would have to sort them after all the files were loaded. For many purposes such sorting would be unnecessary. I would suggest an option in the File menu to sort tabs alphabetically John -

John Rostron replied to Country Lass's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
@Country Lass I don't know the answer, but you are more likely to attract someone who does if you change the title of your post to something meaningful, such as "Where are my downloads?" John -
This (rather old) thread tells you how. BtW, you will get a faster response if you give your thread a more meaningful title, such as "grey card colour picker". John

Affinity Designer for Windows - 1.9.1
John Rostron replied to Rgie's topic in Feedback for Affinity Designer V1 on Desktop
Hello @Rgie, and welcome to the forums. Are you really asking about Affinity Designer on Windows? This is the Affinity Designer for Desktop forum. Or are you using Photo? On a mac? John -
Hello @Keith Williams, and welcome to the forums. I would concur with @markw here. The inpainting brush does not seem appropriate in this context. Could I suggest that you change the Title of your thread from your name to something more meaningful such as "Inpainting Brush on Mask on Adjustment Layer". You are much more likely to attract helpful answers if you do this. You are one of many new users who have been confused by what Title means here. John
