  1. Thank you John - I'll try but being a very "unprofessional" user, I may copy and paste from Serif Page Plus!
  2. Some of these replies are excellent. If Affinity creators would create sets of templates: for booklets, cards, labels, etc. as Serif did for PagePlus, I'm sure that Affinity Publisher users would double... or more. Many of us learn as we go along adding knowledge to knowledge. We aren't professionals but use the software daily (I do but have to keep reverting to PagePlus till there are more templates!) InDesign is a competitor for Professionals but not for us ordinary people who love to do art work. Someone: create a whole list of templates and sell it to Affinity! Till there are actually more templates I still have to use PagePlus! Peacenjoy
  3. A sincere thank you John! Just yesterday I tried to make a card with wavy text and couldn't do it! I make cards and often use both wavy or arched texts. God bless anyone who makes templates for the rest of us. Peacenjoy
  4. This is not a reply but actually a call for help. It seems you do booklets? I can't for the life of me create a booklet. I can create greeting cards because it's only one page. If you or ANYONE can make a template for a booklet - (even standard 8.5 X 11" is fine, I can always change the size) - PLEASE would you share it with me? I still, and only, use PagePlus because I've not found a way to use Affinity Publisher, though I've had the program since it came out. Thank you so much. If you have a template, my email address is peacenjoy@gmail.com - Sister Regina Dierson
  5. FDE101 - You are a big help to me. These are probably formats used for magazines or professional work with which I am unacquainted. I hope that when they come out with a book for Publisher, it will have these things and more explained because I would really like to become proficient in the program. Admittedly, it's the first one that's really confused me, but that's because I was never trained in professional layouts. PagePlus was so clear! Of course, having the Templates probably did all the work. Thank you again - truly! Sister Regina
  6. Thank you so much, fde101! This is a big help to me; you explained it very well because choosing the right page size is what's confusing. Booklet is full page folded in half, the 7x10 cards are 7x5 folded. I'm going to copy all these instructions out when I get back to my regular computer. Topfold I can just do 7x10, make 2 pages, divide each page in half, then for the outside put the graphic on the bottom and the logo upside down on top. Inside is straightforward, top and bottom. It's the booklet that really threw me! Thanks again! Sister Regina
  7. Dear Folks, For over 20 years I've been making cards, posters, booklets - all basic things that were oh so simple in PagePlus. I know Affinity is a far advanced program but: - If I make greeting cards - they don't really come out right/even - If I try to do mirror margins - oh horror - I've been working on simple mirror margins for months with such a mess: in Word, in PagePlus (they removed that option!) in Publisher, it's so simple! - I listened to the tutorial on "Booklets" and truthfully, still couldn't figure how to make a simple 8.5x11" page into a booklet. Please - those of you who do more professional work, and for whom this program is A+ Class - could you help those of us who are NOT doing magazine or book spreads? Could someone come up with a series of templates for 1) simple mirror margins, 2) Booklets of a chosen size - this would probably do also for 3) Greeting cards of various sizes (mine are 7x10 landscape or topfold) - 7x10 for instance is close to B5 but not B5. I've had Affinity Publisher since it came out, and though I've often "practiced" on it, cannot work on it seriously. I know that if I could get started I would easily learn as I go along - It's how I learned Photoshop, Page and PhotoPlus and every other Photo and Publishing program I've used. Also, PLEASE don't "phase out" elements of PagePlus or PhotoPlus to force users to Afinity; it seems that might be happening? Booklets have caused unusual problems lately, mirror margins are now grayed out ... It's the only foundational software that does everything less advanced users need. Greeting Card programs do almost nothing. I am writing this as a deeply devoted user of Serif products, and a seriously 'would be' user of Affinity. Templates would be a great start (You know the opening screen for PagePlus?) Thank you so much! Sister Regina Dierson
  8. I will include the card - unfortunately yes, you can see the margins have to be different to come out correctly, but you can't see the light white film behind the word Peace. It only comes out in the printed version. - Oh, I just printed the same thing out on a plain piece of paper to take a picture of it, but it came out correctly without the white film. That means it must have something to do with the other card paper I used. OK - so I'll know whenever I use that paper. NOTE: the margins come out correctly on the side-fold card - it's just the topfold one. Thank you - here is the card... Peace1.afpub
  9. I have been making Greeting Cards in Serif Page Plus for over 15 years. I keep trying to switch to Affinity Publisher, but even creating my own two templates: sidefold and topfold, the margins .5" all around are 1/8" wider on right side and smaller on left. I did change the margins to .6" on one side and .3" on the other so they come out all .5". The page size is 7"x10" which my printer does easily and Affinity seems to agree to but it's just the margins. Problem #2 - The artistic text - which is beautiful - has a white film on the text box. White on white wouldn't show but with Greeting Cards, the text is usually on a nature photo, like the sea or mountains, and it is very obvious. I think (actually hope) both problems are simple glitches that can be corrected? Sister Regina Dierson
  10. Thank you, Dan - Actually I did all that, but I can try the HSL adjustment. I think I have to get used to the program more - I'm accustomed to Photoshop and Photopaint, and I usually pick up any photo program quickly; this is taking more time but it might reward me well!
  11. I tried to replace the faded color in a photo to a brighter red but though I had the "replace color" brush selected it painted bright red over the image. I looked it up in the tutorial and the tutorial showed exactly what I wanted to do but though I had the correct brush selected it didn't do it. I closed the program, picked another photo and chose green to brighten the field, and it toned it a light pink, chose red, it turned dark. I am using a trial copy of Afinity Photo - does that mean that some brushes automatically do not work? Admittedly I'm accustomed to Adobe Photoshop where one merely chooses the "replace hue" brush and it does just that. Not sure what to do?
