osang got a reaction from A_B_C in Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.6.1 - RC1) [Now Released]
I tested, and yes there's a bug on the latest AD 1.6.1 from the apps store. I also have a copy of AD 1.6.0 and the substract shape is working.

osang reacted to MEB in AFD Beta & AFP Beta 1.3.12 Rulers & Guides
Hi Jim Roelofs,
Welcome to Affinity Forums
Affinity Designer 1.7 will bring considerable improvements to grids/guides. We have a small team here, please bear with us while we work on those improvements/close the gaps.

Uhm… you realize that you’re currently testing a beta version, right? Nobody is selling it like this, and reporting bugs is why this thread here exists in the first place. The point is to get it working to a point where it can actually be released. You’d do a better service by just reporting issues and not adorn your posts with such unconstructive comments.

You mean the purple frames? These are snapping candidate indicators, and you can get rid of them by unchecking Show snapping candidates on the Snapping Panel.

osang reacted to MattP in Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.6.1 - RC1) [Now Released]
This beta cycle has ended and this release candidate build is now the retail MAS version 1.6.1
Status: Release Candidate
Purpose: Improvements, fixes
Requirements: Purchased Mac Affinity Designer [from Mac App Store]
Mac App Store: Submitted
Download: Download from Here
To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it.
This beta is an iteration of the current App Store release and should be used in preference to the App Store release, if you are affected by any of the issues listed below.
Fixes/Improvements:
Improved Pressure response in pixel tools. Fix for 3D profile crash and Blend Ranges dialog crash. Fix for missing Place Image Tool icon. Fixed Korean Hangul text entry. Vector export improvements. Fix for failures when using compound objects inside groups with Constraints set on them. Font support improvements - specifically relating to fonts which substitute spaces or have truncated Unicode CMAP tables. Transparent TGA import support + misc TIFF loading fixes. Fix for deleting a node of a bitmap fill causing crash. Improved pixel painting smoothing. Any pixel-based painting tools should now have better smoothing by default. Fix for combo boxes causing crashes for certain users on High Sierra. Fix for exporting JPEG automatically choosing to export clips as paths which is a poor default and causes confusion. Fix for text objects being created outside the hierarchy of the artboard they were supposed to be created in. Fix for rotated text bounding boxes being incorrect and for disappearing text following Power-Duplicate. Fixed sporadic hanging when opening many image files at once. Fixed crashing bug when exporting certain large PSDs. Fixed a number of UI memory leaks. Added special case PSD import code for “SketchClub” PSD files (they should fix this!). Fixed PSD export of Fill layers. Fixed UI labels on macOS versions prior to Mavericks. SVG import can now handle gradients with missing x1 or y1 values. Assorted PDF export improvements. Localisation improvements. Paste and file-drop of PDF format files will now honour the DPI, as per File->Place. Fix for marching ants not showing on a rotated canvas. Miscellaneous other fixes and tweaks. -
osang reacted to Sean P in PDF Bleed bug on AD 1.6.1?
Hi osang,
This was a known issue with 1.6.1 beta 1 that has now been fixed in 1.6.1 beta 2. Could you download the new Beta Matt put up and just try to re-export!
Thanks.

osang reacted to Sean P in Strange Artboard size increase when exporting an image
Hi Osang,
This is caused because the 2nd artboard is positioned on a subpixel. If you convert your document units to pixels you will see the position is set to 1342.5 px. Changing this to 1342 px will allow you to export without getting that extra pixel being added.
This is a known issue that is with development to fix. I'll get it bumped with them.

How can I print all artboards in one document by the push of the print button once?
Only way I found is to select artboards 1 by one the push print. I would love to be able to print all art boards to individual sheets scaled to the chosen paper; just a batch print of that actually would do either to PDF or paper; depening on use case. iPhone apps are in general 8 - 90 artboards for me. -
osang got a reaction from Francky in Realistic drawing with Affinity Designer
Wow, it's like a 3D render, and this was done in Affinity Designer.

osang reacted to CraigB in Affinity Publisher - Sneak Preview
Yes. I'm replying to my own post! I'm so happy to attach a screenshot of my Adobe Prison Release email. I pulled out my CS6 and installed InDesign to get me through until Publisher is available...
No longer will I pay Adobe $55/month. Thanks Serif!
Looking forward to the Publisher beta this summer!

When I write the new version of expand stroke it should essentially provide a very nice contour function at the same time

osang reacted to Scungio in Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.6 - Beta 6)
Hey Matt,
Thanks for the improvement to the Expand Stroke. This is just a simple test but so far I am liking what I see...
That is just a simple line drawn with the pen tool and a pressure curve applied. If I had to guess it would seem like the Expand Stroke command in 1.5.5 created almost 200 points whereas in 1.6 Beta 6 it may have created 20 points? It would be nice to have an Info panel of how many points an object has when you select it, manually counting it isn't fun!

I'm sorry, but Adobe Illustrator's features are miles away. I can't even make a good brochure on Affinity Designer because of the missing continuous flow of text.

Solid to Gradient bug?
I'm trying to make this to solid black after 'convert to curves' but I don't know why I can't delete the gradient.
Never mind... I fix it.

osang got a reaction from RogerEmure in Create trim marks from the object
One of the features most of the time I use is to create trim marks. This feature (Object > Create Trim Marks) is very handy in Adobe Illustrator when I'm creating flyers, business cards, etc. for the cutting guide. Wishing on AD.

osang got a reaction from JDW in Crop Mark in Affinity (old school way ;-) )
May I butt in? I work in a printing company and uses a lot of cropping marks. I guess the best crop mark generator is the script in Adobe InDesign because I can change crop marks setting...though it cannot save.
The only workaround I find in AD is exporting it to PDF with added bleeds ( I like the 'rasterize everything' setting) then import it to InDesign, preserve the original size, transform/duplicate then use InDesign's cropmark script...show the bleeds, now it's ready for printing.
I wish to have that feature in AD.

Yes, can't type unless I create a new layer and type outside the document and move it inside.

I do have the same problem from #26 post. I have to quit AD just to open the file again.

osang reacted to MEB in [Urgent] Question about exporting for photoshop
Hi Corsicaman,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
We don't currently support exporting of native text to PSD. Other features like certain adjustements, FX Effects, filters etc may have to be restructured and/or rasterised because the PSD format doesn't support Affinity's file structure/features directly. It's also a proprietary format, poorly documented, which makes it harder to comply to its specs.
So while we try to offer the best PSD compatibility possible, it's unlikely that we will be able to fully support it.

Hi Kuttyjoe,
This is already planned (select objects by their attributes) but i have no idea when it will be available.
The developers are currently focused on other features on the roadmap.

osang reacted to Noob in Thinner blinking "caret/sursor" while editing text
The blinking "caret/cursor" while editing text is quite thick ( 3 or 4px ) compared to the default OS X caret, which is usually about 1px thick. This makes editing large bodies of text, especially smaller-sized, very cumbersome and difficult at times. Perhaps a "standard" thickness for the caret/cursor could be implemented in future versions of Designer/Photo?
