  1. +1 I use bitmap mode files for the frequent signatures files we use on our campaigns for marketing letters!
  2. Thanks MelG… Somehow I overlooked the fact the mask thumbnail can simply be clicked on to return to the normal view, very good to know! But as mentioned on my original post, the toggle would be still an expected behavior for a user holding down option-click on the mask thumb, as the option-click key on the thumbnail doesn't have an existing function when in masked view mode it couldn't hurt to implement it anyway?
  3. Thank you A_B_C for posting the screen cast, I see the additional view options there now, however to most users, even if the functionality is built-in, if there is no visible way to access it to an unknowing user, it's effectively the same as if it's not there at all. I'm going to assume, that the hidden view options are there as a placeholder or meant to be experimental for now and that a proper icon button for it is coming later down the road. Thanks!
  4. Hello, This might be a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway… How do you undo/delete a folder already added to the Media Browser without having to control-click? Are there any plans of adding an actual remove or delete button, or maybe the usual plus/minus icons? Without something like this, it still be incomplete, although at it's current state it's usable, I suppose that's the focus for now in trying to get this ready for MAS. Additional view options would be nice too, like a list view for those that browse by filenames rather than visually by thumbnail views. This is useful for when dragging in images with long filenames but have same first few characters names but differ at the suffixes, thumbnail view wouldn't help in this scenario. I'll be sure to post this in the feature request section. Thanks
  5. Hello, When option-clicking on the mask thumbnail on the layers palette, it takes you to the black and white mask view mode, however this same action again does not toggle you back to normal view, why is that? To return to normal view presently, I have to use the "escape" key to get back where I was, two different key actions to simply switch views back and forth is a bit of an interruption for working more swiftly. As shown in attachment. Thank you
  6. Hello, I originally asked for this on the general Photo thread, but this request is more appropriate here. I love the pixel@dpi information that appears on the top left of the tool bar area when selecting a bitmap object, however I noticed that it's lacking native "percentage" size information to help the user know approximately how much the image has been resized since bitmap object import from its the original scale, which would be more useful than just displaying current dpi/pixel size, so alongside it if it said something like 48%, etc. Also it would be really great if there was a checkbox somewhere to "snap" an imported photo back to it's native original size and proportion if the user decides to start over… yes, you can always just re-import the image, but this would save a valuable extra step, a quick return to 100% would save time. You can also use the history palette to accomplish this, however this affects and risks losing any other tasks you've like to have retained since then. Finally, when rasterizing an object from a curve, the current selected object just displays the dpi information but it's missing the current pixel size data on the top left the same way an imported photograph would (i tested by importing from stock palette), this demonstrates Photo can distinguish between an imported image and a generic pixel object. Tested from RC2 version. Thank you!
  7. Thanks for pointing out the info palette location stokerg… I found it under View>Studio>Info. I'll post a request in the "feature request" section for showing additional image information for percentage of scale along with the existing dpi and pixel size values that appears on the top left corner.
  8. I very much appreciate you posting that video A_B_C, I really need to get more familiar with the preference panel. I'm still scratching my head about the difference between constrain by default and don't by default, not seeing much of a difference between the behaviour on both options, could you possibly elaborate just a little bit more? I also posted a bug report just earlier about the truncated text on high values for the tool bar, thanks for also showing that on the video. Appreciated.
  9. Hello, While there doesn't appear to be a dedicated "info" palette in Photo, I love the pixel@dpi information that appears on the top left of the tool bar area when selecting a photo object, however I noticed that it's lacking native "percentage" size information to help the user know approx how much the image has been resized since initial import from the original, which would be more useful than just displaying current dpi/pixel size. Also it would be really great if there was a checkbox somewhere to "snap" an imported photo back to it's native original size and proportion if the user decides to start over… yes, you can always just re-import the image, but this would save a valuable extra step. When rasterizing an object from a curve, the current selected object just displays the dpi information but it's missing the current pixel size data on the top left the same way an imported photograph would (i tested by importing from stock palette), this tells me that clearly Photo can distinguish between an imported photo and a generic pixel object. But some more consistency here would be helpful. Tested from RC2 version. Thanks!
  10. Hello, I've noticed that when importing a photo (tested with stock palette) and dragging from the corners to enlarge/shrink while holding down shift-option for example it does not constrain to keep its proportion the same way the shape objects do. It also has this issue with vector curves that become rasterized, all of a sudden it won't constrain the same way it just did when in it was in vector form. Very confusing as I or any one else would reasonably expect the same behaviour for either pixel or vector objects. Perhaps, I'm missing something and some "constrain'like" checkbox option needs to be checked off somewhere? Even if that were the case, it should be default, right? This is still happening as of the RC2 version. Thanks
  11. Wow, it's already at RC1… I didn't think it would be ready this soon, exciting! I was really anticipating a fix for the transparent canvas after a document is already created. If we forget to check the "transparent background" box when creating a new document, it seems impossible to go back unless we move the contents to another file that already has a transparent background. It would be nice to pull up the checkerboard background at any time. Maybe RC2? Thanks!
  12. It's is already possible to do the blend-if with Photo (Icon next to lock), although it seems that they went with the more "curves-based" approach rather than sliders (like PS)… correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that Blatherus was referring that with PS, there are checkboxes for specific channels for more control, but with Photo it's all or nothing at the moment.
  13. Wondering, is there a way to quickly get a 100% black and white foreground and background color with a key shortcut? For example with PS you would just press "D". I often use it to "erase" or reset my current colors, also very convenient for masks for easy access to show/hide brushing tasks. Thanks
  14. initially I also would've preferred that layer palette layout too… however I like that you can select your specific layers (command+click) and click on the lock icon for multiple locks/unlocks at the same time, works with layer visibility and deletions too. With the lock icon where it's positioned suggests a more universal approach for simultaneous control… individual lock icons per layer could deter some artists from trying it as described above. Just a thought. :)
  15. Hello, Amazed by how the betas for Designer and Photo are coming along, Serif really has some talented developers on their hands. While I enjoy the powerful features of the layers palette, especially the clicking of the thumbnail to auto zoom to the objects, or by context-clicking to find object in layer… we know how a very involved project can quickly get very complex and navigating the layers palette on those files not so fun. May I suggest adding the ability to hold a key (option or control?) while clicking the visibility checkbox to show/hide all other layers not currently selected. This would also be really cool if it worked with locking the layer option along with visibility too. Hopefully the screenshots are clear enough of what I'm trying to explain. Thank you
  16. Hello, Yes, cannot wait until being able to set the zero point, with my line of work for example this is useful when measuring diecut templates on a document in a relative position. I've been wondering, maybe it's already been asked before various times, is there a way to make the ruler guides snap to the tick marks on the ruler? Maybe an option to make them snap to the tick marks, by holding shift or something? Also possibly a feature to change the guide orientation on the fly? Like holding down a key to make a horizontal rule flip to vertical mode? Thank you!
  17. Hello, How about a checkbox or something that quickly applies the same color to the stroke that the currently filled object is using and vice versa? I know you can just manually do it or drag and drop the colors on each other from the palette (like Illustrator can), but a button/checkbox or whatever would be so much faster for comp work, etc. However, I'd imagine if something like this were to be implemented, maybe other attributes that strokes can also share with fills (gradients?) can be included (or excluded for that matter). Thank you, as usual I anticipate the next build(s), coming along great!
  18. Oh, I see, yes the drag and drop function does seems to exist already somewhat although not in mature form yet. Glad to hear that this ability is already in discussions. I attached a screen describing of how I wish the program would handle this, at least on a basic level. Thanks
  19. Hello, how about drag and drop colors from the color palette directly onto objects on the canvas, either stroke or fill? Yes, you can just select an object(s) and do it the traditional way, however I often found myself picking a random color and wishing it would accept the behavior of me dragging a color to multiple objects here and there, in the end it results in less clicking and found it feels very intuitive when done with other programs. Could something like this be expected on a modern app like AD? Either way, I really love the direction the beta is going!
  20. Thank you for clearing that up about standard mac behaviours, I read the other post about similar request, seems the other post is still open about command + tilde, for us users that never intend to use separated mode ever, would it be possible to add switching between tabs with that key shortcut? An app like photoshop does support it and it's very useful although I'm sure they did their own voodoo to make that happen outside of apple convention (sorry Adobe has spoiled us :) ) With non-developers like us, documents/windows kinda become synonymous, fundamentally we know they are different things however. Looking very forward to next beta!
  21. Hello, This has been bugging me for a little while now, while selecting a tool within a tool group or a popup menu extension that is active, a palette floating near it will always show above it, hence anything you're currently trying to select ends up getting obscured and unable to select the item/option until the palette is moved out of the way. Is there a planned fix for this, unfortunately this seems to be affecting Photo beta users too.
  22. Hello, Really wondering why the affinity apps "Photo" and currently "Designer Beta" don't follow the conventional mac UI open window/document switching standard, it would make cycling through multiple open documents a whole lot faster and easier. For example with a program, like safari and photoshop one would just press "Command + `" to cycle through open documents which has been an OSX standard for as long as I can remember. This should also reflect in the "Window" menu displaying multiple open documents to select through. I like the current tabs implementation for switching between documents, however, sometimes i just rather do it the standard mac UI way as I would think most people would too? I also posted this on the Designer Beta thread.

  24. How about a feature that's seen on some software (including most adobe apps)… where as clicking on a field name with a box next to it for inputting values will auto select the preset values so that the user can quickly input their desired values. For now the user has to manually mouse over into the field and highlight the text to delete/input the numbers, The attached screenshot should demonstrate what I mean. Thank you and keep up the great work Affinity Designer looks VERY promising!
