Thanks Kodiak. FYI - I do not do 'conventional' photography. I specialise in creating images. A 'blown out' early morning mist look was my aim - achieved. Hence.... see the original image, below! The hardest part was creating the reflections for the bird! Oh and I only ever need to use jpegs.... cheers, Paul

Hi Aeros4! Nice solid tutorial. I use an almost identical method, just I zoom in closer. As ever, the technique, as you will know,is about practice and developing that skill! Cheers, Paul -
So pleased with AP and goodbye to PS for me. An example of 10 minutes work, mostly with an old Wacom; fine details to be finished later... Enjoy, Cheers, Paul

I use Picasa 3.9. Free. While not now supported by Google it works fine. I have 100,000 images on it. Cheers Paul

Sure Patrick, which was why I stated, 'my opinion'. If the OP had provided a more detailed appraisal and circumstances pertaining to the issues and failures of AP, as many folks spend their valuable time so doing I could appreciate the value of the post. The OP however merely listed issues that may, or may not, be due to AP. I doubt that any further 'maturity' of AP will tempt in certain users as per my 'app culture' statement. IMHO if forum posts are merely a rant at AP without any supporting information or merit they should be removed. You guys are the moderators, so good luck. I will keep on using, enjoying, testing and feeding back. Cheers, Paul

I am here to help make AP better than PS. Any monopoly is not good. I am willing to work around the minor issues. My personal opinion. I hark back to the 80s and 90s when installs and getting software running took some effort. Nowadays it appears that many folks want to click and run without any effort or work whatsoever. No appreciation of unique configurations... No willingness to explore, learn and research. Too lazy even to search forums or check drivers etc. I suppose it is an App world... I salute the patience of Serif staff living with the cr*p they get in these forum posts. P

Dooblaque. So given your specific problem what COULD the 'techies' do further? Just think. EVERY PC configuration is unique. The only way they could assist is to recreate your exact machine.....Hardware, software, OS, settings, peripherals, etc... I appreciate users frustration (I have spent nearly 40 years in IT) and I have been frustrated too. The issue in general is that some people expect loading software is like plugging a toaster in. If it were me I would spend some time disabling temporarily various Win 10 software until I got an alternate result. FYI I use AP on a slow and old underpowered Toshiba laptop and it is acceptable when compared to PS. Good luck. Cheers Paul

Just some more practical wishes ...
PaulAffinity replied to DarkClown's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on Windows threads
Guys, Given in many cases you list AP features that are not implemented in current betas (or Live) and given you do not know for sure if they are 1. Not there by design or 2. Not there in error I assume you should provide a list of clear and definitive requests (practical wishes) in the FEATURE REQUESTS forum? I would then expect a Serif response re 1. or 2. above and some support from other users as to the request popularity... Hope that helps, Paul -
Wow, merry Xmas Keith Reeder! I thought everyone on every post has an 'anti-adobe'agenda - whether blatantly or not. It is (one of the reasons) why many of us bought AP. Ironic really as AP by its own existence is 'anti-adobe'. I don't see why looking for a 'non-adobe' solution is an issue. Many of us are looking to maximise value while minimizing cost. A merry Xmas to all! Cheers P

Viewing more than one image
PaulAffinity replied to Septimus's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
Septum us Isn't that a DAM function not an editor one? Surely like in Lightroom you would want to inspect and choose without wasting time loading and arranging in AP? Use LR for now and await the Serif DAM... Cheers Paul -
Customisability Affinity UI
PaulAffinity replied to Roberto1972's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
Hi, I think it is worth remembering that AP was a 'ground up' Mac app originally, with an obvious focus on grabbing disgruntled Mac users (sans Aperture) and firing a shot across Adobe's bows.It was not touted as a PP replacement, even though it occupies the same space. Positioning it as such would have caused an endless circle of PP vs. PS requirements on UI with a compromise causing massive product roadmap and strategy issues (plus file type and functionality!)!! The UI was therefore designed (IMHO) with Aperture/PS switchers in mind bit with some fresh functions/approaches. As such the Win AP tries to follow the Mac UI etc. as closely as possible. IMHO PP users will have to adapt their mindset a litle, from a UI perspective and from an expectation that printed guides are provided. Again IMO having trained users in PS/LR etc. for years - the video approach and a basic help system is the standard. I appreciate that (in general) older school users have a learning method of read and try, whereas most (not all) younger users are happier with Video tutorials. The game has changed and AP has a chance to lead Adobe. I assume some text based guides will be produced, but I assume the UI is 99% where Serif want it going forward. Happy to be corrected.... Cheers, Paul -
