If you select the "Pen" tab is "Use Windows Ink" enabled at the bottom left.

And do you start Photo with the "--disable-wintab" switch? Win Tab does a better job than Windows Ink, but I loose the ability to change opacity and size of the brush using the pen.

    @AlainP

The PEN tab IS selected! I have no Windows Ink settings there.

I start Photo with no Switch, just run it as is. HTH

  2. Even worse here...  1st run and on WACOM CTH-460 (8 year old Bamboo Pen & Touch) pen side buttons both WORKED OK, for around 20 seconds. Resized brush Ok, but then my pointer in Win10 would not click on  any of the UI and work. Had to kill AP.

2nd run and  PEN buttons would not work, selected a brush and then the Win10 cursor disappeared. Only reappeared when I pressed the Windows Keyboard key. All of UI was unresponsive. Killed AP.

3rd run. A mix of 1st and 2nd run above....! UI was eventually inoperative. Cursor stayed as Brush Resize, still painted occasionally. Killed AP.

    No crash. Removed beta. HTH...

  3. To the OP, I think you need to ensure that in ANY app you use you check what baseline IMPORT TONE CURVE is Used by DEFAULT.

I use C1, DXO, Affinity, LR and have used NIKON etc. and tested these. Each will have a baseline TC usually defined within Settings or Preferences. Go there reset to NO TC and then compare and show us.

  4. Just to clarify, I am using WACOM Bamboo pen & touch CTH-460, (8 year) old tablet input device using the OLD Wacom  drivers and Preferences UI.

In beta USING Windows Ink works perfectly, using pen top button to adjust pen hardness and size.

In beta NOT using WI, identical performance, no issues.

Pen usage and speed unaffected in either situation.

I believe that the drivers for recent Wacom tablets are fundamentally different to these old devices.

That's interesting, how are you doing it ? because I have found it terrible. I am force too use the pilot now in my tablet to resize brush - but without possibility of making it soft or not soft. Side buttons in both of mine pens - art pen and pro pen doesn't react of any of attempt to combine keyboard shortcuts and making changes to brush size or softnes ( in previous versions it works, because I could use ctr+alt+plus click not like now alt+left and right click). Using an keyboard and display tablet speed a lot the whole workflow - so this is important to work properly for me.

Hi I use the Wacom setup, from like 2015. It lets me set the pen top button. I do not think I am using Windows Ink..

    I will check later..

  6. Been using 1.8 daily for several hours since release, no issues. Fast, efficient, plug ins (Topaz, Nik) all OK. Afphoto and jpg plus raw all fine. I have a 6 year old Wacom Bamboo pen and touch. The pen works perfectly to resize and  re-soften/harden with the side button. Enjoying it, as ever..

My DNG photo is loading with all the shadow detail gone and has no relation to the quality of the original picture I wanted to edit.

What loading on to affinity has done is to make my picture so awful that no amount of edits could improve it.  It render your editor as unusable.

Fix it or die, Affinity.  I do not expect to have to come on here because your app destroys the photo before I've even so much as begun.  It's a lousy update.

Here's the original DNG photo and the developed and exported jpg version with no edits from me after I gave it to Affinity

Your first post. Rude and ignorant. Have some respect. I and many thousands of users have and DO use AP now 1.8 with NO issues.

I suggest you tone down and ask for assistance not demand like a spoilt child.

I also use a Wacom Bamboo Touch and it works well, but "Alt-Right click" to change size and hardness does not work anymore.

AlainP mine still works. I have it assigned to the pen 'top' button. L-R is size and Up-Down is hardness. I have NOT enabled windows ink.

    HTH.
