JohaWeber got a reaction from PhilipC in "Save History File with Document" as Default in Settings
    Hey there,

I always forget to check the "Save History File with Document" after creating a new one. I understand, that not everybody wants to save the history by default, because it would make a lot of files a lot larger (I guess so?). But for others it would be nice to have a Checkbox in the (User-)Settings to get the history saved with the document by default when saving a document.
Perhaps it would even be possible, to have a "per document"-exception-setting.

    Greetings, Johannes

I'm an absolute precision fanatic. And I would expect this from a programm which even lets me zoom into my artwork by 125000000% to be absolute precise. And I would expect it even more if this is a software which lets me use geometric shapes for artwork construction (where "construction" is a better term than "creation"). A software that is based on computations for everything (isn't that the nature of computer programs/software?) should give me absolute precision in my work if I need it...

    Hey there,

    >> v.1.5.3.62-b

while exporting some artboards with icons via the export-persona, a clip-path-tag with the size of the related artboard gets added to every exported SVG which then gets added as clip-path-attribute including every path/element that was intended to be exported in the related SVG.
I think this is not intended by design? There is no reason to have a clip-path with the exact size as the viewbox (which in this case represents the artboard) - because the viewbox will solve any occuring usecases. If this clip-path gets added to solely represent the created slice on that artboard, then we definitely need another solution than creating slices to export multiple artboards at once.

Thought I'd give you a glimpse of some of the features that will be coming in 1.7.

Please note - this thread is only for discussing the features detailed here.  Postings related to other feature requests should be posted on their own thread (else they will get deleted from this thread).

We have spent considerable time overhauling the internals of some of our main tools.  It's been a labour of love, but it's going to open up greater possibilities for our core tool set.

    The core tools are:
    - Move tool
    - Pen tool
    - Node tool
    - Shape creation tools
    - Text tools
    - Fill and Transparency tools
    - Place Image tool
    - Vector Crop tool

So, what improvements can be expected?

    - Advanced grid editing on spread (move the grid origin and edit it's axis with a handy new widget, with full snapping of course)
    - Guides can be created and moved in all the core tools, plus a toggle to turn guide editing off
    - Move the artboard ruler origin (with editing toggle)
    - Create objects and shapes into an arbitrary grid
    - Rotate and flip objects in grid planes (great for people working in isometric), plus an option to rotate shapes in plane using the Move tool
    - The Move tool will now allow you to cycle though selection boxes, including regular boxes and grid plane aligned boxes
    - Snapping performance improvements

I am not quite sure if this has been changed recently but by looking at the 'layer' menu there is a hint that SHIFT+CTRL+L unlocks the layer. This works similar to group/ungroup.

Just rediscovered something which I thought had been fixed.
Draw a 10px line (curve) Duplicate the line, change it's colour and shorten it to reveal the line below. Group the two lines together Try to select the group by clicking directly on one of the lines.

[Partial] Fixed failure to close down due to incremented load count from (failed) abandoned documents (still needs 1 further fix for corrupt abandoned files) Fixed Text Styles panel to show the document defaults when no text is selected  Changed Layers panel to add more distinction between clipped and nested layers  Fixed document DPI showing a decimal place in some situations Fixed reset of user workspace when new panels have been added Fixed newly created Text Styles being applied twice to a text frame on creation Fixed vector export (including PDF) taking a long time due to large clip areas Fixed Fit/Shrink to printable does not fit to printer margins  Fixed 2nd Print has a zero size document in printer dialog  Fixed adjustments being ignored when outside of an artboard even though they may have an effect on the document Fixed being unable to move the Greyness node in Layer Effects > Colour Overlay Fixed colour node appearing on the Colour panel  Fixed hit testing on floating window edges to make it easier to resize windows Fixed closing a floating window through the taskbar closing the application (a side-effect of this change is that Alt+F4 on a floating window will now just close that window, not the app)

JohaWeber reacted to rubs in Slice titles in Export persona misleading
Not sure if this is a new bug or if I failed to notice it before, but the slice titles may be misleading at times. For example, both PNG-24 and PNG-8 slice are named as such:
1280x800, "Artboard1", PNG, RGB 8-bit I understand it is actually 8 bits per RGB color, but "PNG-24" would make a lot more sense here. Don't you think?

JohaWeber reacted to Fernando Ribeiro in RYB color model
    Hello

Is there any possibility of using the RYB color model in the Colour Pallete when creating colours, creating gradients or adding Chords to swatch?
As an example, when creating a gradient from yellow to blue, I would like to have green in between, and not grey. Grey is created because in the RGB model, Yellow is complementary to Blue.
But in "real" colours, I would get Green and not Grey.

As the RYB model is already present in the Paint Mixer Brush, it seems that I might be missing something.

    Thank you

JohaWeber got a reaction from Wiredframe in Now that InVisionStudio is about to be released...
    What I think:
The constraints function/panel is not enough to use it as a proper UI design tool or to become a proper design tool. What every UI tool lacks is IMO either a proper HTML(Structure)/CSS(Style)/JS(Animation) export, the "truly responsive"-part or a "multiple states in structure and style for a single UI-element"-part. I could live with at least two of the stated features. I will not add invision studio to my toolset if either they only provide it on a monthly/yearly subscription base or they only provide the tool to mac users. As far as I know none of the statements were made yet - but who knows what a big corporation thinks inside... I wanted to move away from adobe because of the subscription model and couldn't/can't use sketch as a windows user. If they don't get the color workflow for spot colors a lot more easier and keep the professional print production options/features (overprint! spot-color-duotone!) on this level, I don't know why I even should wait for Affinity Publisher to be released. So what's their strategy? In general I think (but hope not) it will turn into the same as GIMP but as a paid product: A quick and easy step into the industry which will be followed by a turn to Adobe for pro users. I also think it would be best to focus on providing a perfect featureset for ADesigner, APhoto and APublisher nearly the same as Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign which then would suit Illustrators, Photographers and DTP-Pros and create a standalone UI app which just integrates in the Affinity universe. Without compatibility for plugins created by users/companies both Affinity Suite and inVision Studio will not succeed the way Sketch or Adobe does. It's the same with every "closed-for-plugins" tool: Looks great, works fine - until you get to the point were the idea is in your head, was approved by your team/client and you're not able to realize it because of the limitations of the tool itself. So you move on to the next one or back where you came from because you can't write your plugin or buy a plugin which brings your idea to life in a breeze - yes sure, nearly everthing a plugin in the graphic-design area does can be achieved without it, but only with a high application of time (which is money). And most projects only have a limited amount of hours on their table.
