AiDon reacted to Patrick Connor in affinity info bot??
I personally chose to change the name. I nearly called it "Info Bot" but I think "Affinity info bot" is clearer and more authoritative.

It is "early in the acquisition process" , but it's nevertheless in the past. Serif/Affinity was acquired by Canva 2 weeks ago, and announced publicly 1 week ago. I think the service agent meant nothing has changed so far. Furthermore nothing is due to change. Beta cycles will be the same as for 2.3 and 2.4, new features, improvements and larger fixes in point releases (x in 2.x.y) and bug fixes to address regressions in patch releases (y in 2.x.y).
The 2.5.0 beta cycle will start very soon after 2.4.2 patch is released, likely in April

AiDon reacted to CM0 in Questions on Canva acquiring Affinity
No, it was catch-22. A lot of people here complained that v2 wasn't enough to justify paying for the upgrade. The problem is that you need to make the updates big enough to attract that extra revenue. However, you need more resources to make those bigger updates and you can't get those resources without the bigger updates. The team was already over extended for what everyone expected out of Affinity.
Also, they stated they are committed to no subscriptions. Canva is competing with Adobe for the enterprise professional designers. This is good news for the future of Affinity.

Thanks. That doesn't mean there's no option to start a trial. Just that there's no option yet with the approach you took. You could have downloaded from a different store, for example. But I'm confident Serif will figure out what's going on with you there.

I don’t understand that, either, although I’m sure it doesn’t help that the money-back guarantee period is now fully twice as long as the trial period!

Honestly it surprises me that there even is a message about this 'point of no return' in beta software. That's pretty darn cool and user friendly that Serif doesn't have to do. I've never seen that in any other software so far as normally people know that using beta versions is ot own risk always. +1 for Serif on this customer friendly thing for greatly thinking along!

It would help to have a screenshot of the complete application window, because there is additional information you may not realize is important that you've eliminated by giving us only a partial shot.
But that's enough for at least one guess: as you're dealing with a Text Frame, and in Publisher, check the Text Frame panel and see if you have specified a color for the Text Frame's Fill. Window > Text > Text Frame.

    Hi @bbrother,
    Thanks for your report!
As I understand it, the speed at which your layer thumbnails update will be system dependant and may vary based on your GPU/CPU rendering speed & available RAM (memory).
I've tested the workflow shown in your recording on my Windows 10 PC here, with Hardware Acceleration disabled in Affinity and these layer thumbnails are updated within 1-2 seconds for each action:
    2024-01-15 12-38-41.mp4
The PC I'm using is as follows:
Intel i9-11900K 32GB DDR4 @ 2933MHz Nvidia RTX 3060Ti Can you please confirm your PC specs for me?
When this occurs on your machine, try zooming on the canvas - does this force the Layer thumbnails to refresh for you please?
    Many thanks in advance!

According to Patrick's message here 2.4 should be available this week, although I don't know for sure.

The v1 beta is no longer available, you might still have an old link, but you can no longer download and use it.
You cannot use the v2 beta unless you have bought the v2 release version.
Beta versions are not free alternatives to the release versions, they are only intended (for users who have already purchased the software) to test it before a new version of the software is released. Beta versions are only available for a limited time, and usually expire when the next release version is available.
You can download a free 30 day trial of Affinity v2.
If you have a problem with v1 it might help if you told us what it is!

Sorry for the lack of clarity.
I was suggesting that you not use projection, but rather use an extended desktop setting instead, like this, and see if it also has problems:

However, if you've narrowed it down to projection mode causing the problem, that may provide enough information for Serif to work with. It might help, though, if you show a screenshot of the settings that cause the problem, so they know for sure what you've done.

And when A or B changes, the file formats are incompatible with releases that have a smaller A or B value.
Thus, we should expect that 2.1 won't be able to open 2.2 files.

AiDon reacted to Ash in 2.2 Beta Build 3 (1931)
    Hi All,
We have just begun rolling out a new beta build - version number 2.2.0.1931 - which should become available to you on auto-update over the next hour
Three new features are included in this build:
Object creation data entry Move tool data entry OCIO v2 support added And some other feature improvements which are worth drawing your attention to:
Find and Replace now includes the additional scope options of 'Section" and 'Page' 'Hide Effects" and "Greyscale' view mode options are now available as optional toolbar buttons. Additionally these view modes (as well as all other Designer view mode options previously only available in Designer) have now been added to Publisher. You can now both insert anchors and link to them from data merge fields. There are also a lot of fixes which have gone in since the last build which will be listed on the bug fix list post .
    Important: PDF Password feature
While this build does include many fixes for PDF password, we have decided to drop this feature from 2.2. The feature is still available in this build, but will be removed in the next one. For that reason we're going to hide the feature thread and ask that no more reports are made on this feature.
Apologies if this causes some disappointment, but we feel we need a little more time to solve some of the problems being reported. We certainly anticipate this will be available again at the start of the 2.3 beta and that it can make the 2.3 release.
    Thanks,
    Ash

I sense that you are not used to a serious professional, civil, intellectual or academic environment with professional discussions and even passionate discussions. Above some of us have seriously exchanged opinions and experiences in this thread about whether Serif should use input from users who have early experiences. If that's too much for you and you demand positive feedback from positive users, then I can assure you that you would never have been hired where I have worked through the years. I sense that you are not used to a serious professional, civil, intellectual or academic environment with professional discussions and even passionate discussions, because I cannot use such statements. System-loyal, obsessive positive employees are not in demand. Only in a few countries we know all too well.
And if you think that posting drawings of laughing cartoon faces all over the place is serious and mature participation in a democratic debate, then you've fully confirmed my theory.
Complete nonsense. This is a BETA group and thread, the whole purpose of the BETA process is that the end product when released is as stable and complete as possible, and that Serif should not fix undiscovered serious and semi-serious bugs TOO LATE - after release 2.2.0. Serif develops software that will hit the market around the same time as Apple's update. Any work to ensure the two products work smoothly and flawlessly together BEFORE v2.2.0 is released is of the utmost importance. Thus, input is important.
You have no idea about product development, quality, customer service and responsibility for customers if you think end users should be given the task of finding serious bugs in release 2.2.0 that Serif then subsequently fixes and "gets everything under control". This doesn't take days. It takes weeks, sometimes months. In all that time, some customers are screwed.
I simply don't see what your contribution is to making Affinity a better product.

Hi Walt, Yes that is so but click on the link whilst the iPad is open gives me a message that the developer has removed me from the Test Program? I am not sure but I may also have deleted the last Beta from test flight or the iPad  ... which may also do that.
Note that only the iPad version is affected.
