You are only effected if you want pure transparency in exported files from Affinity apps. If it is NOT anything the OP did in their source file AND Affinity IS premultiplying transparency then it will impact you at some point, especially in 4k+ monitors or print.

I was thinking about this for the purpose of creating animated characters and game art and I think a basic timeline to onion skin frame-to-frame / keyframe, animations and export them in a sprite sheet, individual files and option for an animated gif would be nice. I know there are a lot of these type of softwares free, open source and paid. Having this work flow within affinity designer would be great.

I have seen that in other software I have used and it had something to do with how the layers were setup and the FX on the layers. It was a combination of things that compounded and created the problem. I have never seen it in my own work in version 1 or 2 apps to date. Look at the effects, stroke etc.. on the individual elements and the layers and groupings. Look at your layers and how they are setup.. Normal, Passthrough etc.. and how the layers themselves are nested grouped together. the FX on each one. nested layers can have effects that can cause this too. Accidentally applying or forgetting you applied something nested 3 deep in a group or A group. Look at the export options and see what they are set too. Resample, Bleed, Palettized. File format and option. Those are the main areas to look at that I can suggest. I have seen this in other apps like I said but personally not in Affinity myself.

Important to include and has been a complaint since v1 came out... Please add BMP support Am posting twice because this issue has impacting me recently.

Just Yesterday I got into a project that had this requirement to export a BMP file of something I made in Affinity Designer. Had to be a 120x120 bmp image. Ended up exporting to PNG then importing into Krita and exporting to BMP. ANNOYING!!! I rarely see or use BMP's but that ONE time you need to and it isn't there in Affinity.

Not sure if this has been suggested. The current option to customize the tool bar with the available tools is nice. I prefer the added ability in addition to what is there to customize all the panels and have a universal tool set that consists of ALL the tools from all the panels and allow me to place any tool from any panel or menu on any other panel, tool bar or interface item. This would allow for creation of custom panels and not just collections of panels. There is a software that takes this to a new level. PaintStorm Studio Pro paintstormstudio.com That software allows complete customization of EVERYTHING within the interface including individual tools. I would really like more of that type of customization within the Affinity softwares. Bringing the DELETE icon button over to the tool menu from the layers panel would be great! Stuff like that...

I would like the following improvements to the color cache in the color wheel panel. Yes, the swatch panel is there but I would like these new color cache last 10 colors to have more flexibility which will improve work flow. NOT because the suggestions may duplicate the swatch panel, it is to give flexibility in interface setup and individual work flow. In Designer the last 10 color cache colors really needs to have the ability to be erased or cleared AND have the ability to remove single colors. 1: To clear this completely, erasing the entire list of colors. If it is cluttered with mutliple copies of the same color or I want to change a color pallete I don't want to see the old colors. Sometimes I just want a clean start or interface when I begin working on the file. 2: Like in the Color Swatch panel have the ability to delete or remove a single color If I make a mistake or I don't want a specific color there as an option I should be able to remove it. Just Because. 3: If there is already an existing color in the cache that is the EXACT same color, do not add another one I do NOT need 5 of the exact same color in the last 10 colors used list this brings back to #1 and #2 above. 4: Option to turn this OFF to hide it from the panel. 5: Ability to set the number of colors to keep. It is currently hard coded to 10. What if I want 20 or 5 or 3? Ability to choose this number would be great. 6: Manual ordering of colors so I can drag colors in the order I prefer or like 7: Ability to save and load custom color options in this small color cache and have the ability to add them to the main swatch panel OR create a new swatch. I really like this smaller easily to access colors feature added in v2 but I would like these options for how it works. With this feature I would like the choice to FORCE a halt of new colors by locking this to a predefined color set or what is already there. Also: Option 1: Normal operation how it works currently Option 2: Lock current colors cache so no new colors are added or overwritten once I have my colors in this list Option 3: Load custom color swatch of X colors and lock them so they can't be overwritten by the last used color If the "locked" colors are less in number than the total available color slots. Say as it is now 10 available colors and I use 5 spaces that I do not want changed. The last 5 should operate as normal last used color que, cache or whatever it is called. If I have 3 "locked" then 7 are available or 8 locked then 2 available. I understand some will not understand why I would want this to work as suggested above, why not just use the color swatch panel. Because this new feature as is, looks to be so much simpler and with the above suggestions a quick work flow improvement with customization in how it can work. Leave it as it is now OR tick a box to remove it OR increase / decrease the color spaces from 10 to X. Have my most common colors used automatically populated to this color pallete OR if I have a nice color selection and then I choose a new color I lose what I had setup. When I screw up and chose the wrong color why do I have to be presented with this color every time I load that file. The main focus here is OPTIONS and making Affinity Apps work how we want them to work. Customization is AWESOME, please don't lock it down to just how the developers want the apps to work. As I think of new things I will update this post or thread.

I went and google searched this and from what I can tell there isn't really a definite official answer. Here are some of the things I found though, some coming directly from Microsoft. 1: The Move Apps feature in Windows 10 / 11 only works for apps installed from the microsoft app store and not side loaded applications installed manually or running installers from elsewhere like the Affinity Store etc... My Note: Maybe at one time this was correct, but I have seen people do this successfully and the option on most of my "side loaded" software are movable. This Information about not working with side loaded apps I got from the Microsoft support site and then I paraphrased it above. 2: Microsoft on their help site suggests when you have the issue you are describing to do something that Affinity Serif has deemed incorrect and will cause loss of ability to update the affinity apps or possibly invalidate your affinity license. I thought it was interesting that the suggestion with details was provided from Microsoft though. Direct quote from the person that tried the instructions: "Ok, after performing the changes you suggested I tried moving and still had no success. I restarted the PC and still nothing." 3: Another recommendation linked to from the Microsoft support site is to use a 3rd party application such as Aomei PA to move the app in question. I have this software and I loaded it up and looked through their selection of movable apps on my computer. I have the PAID PRO version. It did not find or list Affinity Apps at all, even version 1 which is installed via MSI installers. No GO on this choice. 4: A fellow member of the forum and fellow user of Affinity apps, Frank Mu, in the long thread about the MSIX installation format has said that the reason this will not work is that the Cluster Size of the file system on the DESTINATION drive needs to be 4k due to a bug in WIndows. I didn't link to the Microsoft support pages for the above suggestions or information because they contained other things that didn't apply OR links to stuff that Serif doesn't want you to try. You can Google search and find them in the first page of listings for this issue if you need the precise wording and instructions that didn't seem to work for people. Not helpful but is what I found about this. When you get it to work let us all know what you did.

I do not need five copies of the same exact color in the swatch cache. If it were to identify that the same color exists and not add it that would be better. I don't neccesarily need or be forced the same colors in the cache if I want to change the pallete or use different colors than what is there I would like to clear them. In the swatch panel you can delete or remove individual colors but in the swatch color cache on the color wheel you can't. I make mistakes or want to experiment and I don't want or need every color option tracked expecially since it only contains the last 10. What if the 10th one is the one I want to keep but I haven't taken the time to move it to a new swatch pallete.. It is GONE! Though in this thread I just want to be able to clear it out completely when I want to.

Forgot to say.. Windows 10 Wacom Intuos Pro Pen & Touch Tablet

I turned off windows INK in the windows control panel AND in the wacom tablet properties. I have two monitors and in the Mapping I have the setting for Screen Area = Monitor 2 Force Proportions is turned on Tablet Area = Full

It is happening randomly with BOTH the mouse and the pen but not always both at the same time and it is random occurance but it is happening quite a bit.

I know this maybe a basic thing but took me a bit to figure this out. I am using a Wacom Intuis Pro Pen & Touch Tablet so I programmed one of the express keys on the tablet to recenter and reset the rotation of the canvas. I am using Windows 10 so not sure what this is in other systems. Hot Keys: CTRL + 0 = Center Canvas on screen via "Zoom to Fit" CTRL + 1 = Zoom Canvas to 100% CTRL + ALT +SHIFT + R = Reset Canvas Rotation Note: You have to type and hold down the following keys for this to work, in the Keys: field in Wacom Tablet Properties it will have curly brackets around the modifier keys. {CTRL} {ALT} {SHIFT}, this happens automatically when you hold these keys down. I setup the express key command as follows, do NOT type the PLUS signs. CTRL + 0 + CTRL + ALT + SHIFT + r + CTRL + 1 This centers the canvas, resets the rotation if it has been rotated and then zooms the canvas to 100%. You can set this to be whatever you want but for me this works for resetting and centering the canvas when it gets moved around and I can't find where I am. One key press it is all done.

I couldn't figure this one out but after experimentation and reading through the forum this maybe helpful to those new to the programs. I am using Affinity Designer v2 on Windows 10 Pro. I think this works for v1 also. I wanted to delete ALL layers at once but could not find how to do this until I switched to the move tool. I use an Intous Wacom Tablet Pro and set one of the express keys on the tablet to the following keystrokes. In Wacom Tablet Properties 1: Functions -> ExpressKeys 2: Keyboard -> Keystroke 3: keys: v + CONTROL + a + DELETE + v The above selects the move tool, selects all on the canvas then deletes everything and toggles back to whatever tool you were using. One button click, all layers deleted. If the second "V" at the end does not toggle back to the tool you were using then you can replace that with the hotkey for your favorite tool such as "b" for the brush tool. It doesn't seem to work in some instances. Next Option: From any of the brush, pen, move, node tools etc... CTRL + A = Selects last object / layer CTRL + DELETE = Deletes this single layer / object Next Option: I read about if you have a touch tablet or touch turned on that if you use three fingers and swipe down it is suppose to do something with deleting layers. I never got this to work on my system or touch tablet. I do not know if this is a iPad only option or it just didn't work with my desktop computer. I think any of the selection, move, node and drawing tools the above works also with CTRL + A and then DELETE but I don't want to have to dink with the keyboard to do all this so I setup a express key. One button, done. I am sure this is basic stuff but I coudn't find this anywhere in the documentation. If you do the above keystrokes / hotkeys it will not matter if the "Edit All Layers" is on or off. It will still work. "Edit All Layers" just means when you select or work in the canvas that you can edit other layers and not just the one you are drawing on. Well, that is what I figured out for deleting layers mainly was interested in ALL layers at once and not just individual layers.

Now the left click issue is effecting my stylus AND the mouse. What is going on?

With my wacom tablet I have a express key set to "display toggle" by default. This transfers the tablet corrdinates to another monitor. I am using multi-monitor setup. Then you control whatever is in the toggled to monitor. Click this express key and it toggles back to the original monitor and application in this case Affinity Designer. When this issue occurs if I click this display toggle button and click on anything in the second monitor and then toggle back to affinity designer then everything works normally. For a short period then I can't left click on ANYTHING except the canvas. Press the display toggle button, click on something in the other monitor display and toggle back. This issue sometimes works within a short delay. Otherwise, I have to toggle back and forth several times for this to work. I have so far been able to get left click to work again using this method.

I have a Wacom Tablet. non-screen version. When I am using my wacom tablet and then transfer to using my mouse I can't left click on anything in the interface except the canvas. Nothing works for left click with the mouse while my wacom tablet is on. I have to restart the application for things to work again but soon the issue reoccurs. I am having the reverse issue. My mouse left click allows to draw on the canvas but I can not left click on any interface items or drop down menus. This is happening randomly and I have to restart Designer to make it work properly. Wacom tablet pro, non-screen version.

I am using Designer version 2 and have three copies of the same color in the last 10 color swatch cache on the color wheel group. How do I remove these copies or at least clear this last 10 color swatch without factory resetting the entire interface?

This may not be the problem. I am getting a hypnotic effect where I am seeing what I want to see blurring vs not blurring, I can't tell the difference between the exports I did now. LOL Well, that is my only idea. I don't see anything that should cause this. I am using Affinity Designer v2. 1080P Monitor.

Pass Through Version Test - 1 PNG File set to Pasthrough in Layers

I looked at your source file. You have your group folders set to Passthrough. I changed them to Normal and then exported and on my computer, windows 10, the images are clear and not blurry. I do not know what Passthrough does...

I had no issues with the version 1 update process. What complaints were there? I prefer that with the ability to choose whether to update or not versus a forced update. If an update breaks something how can I revert back to a previous update? I also like having downloaded copies of the updates, can we still do that?

I have not used yet the Version 2 forced pixel option, I see it though. What you are saying is that it actually does not work? Figma is now owned by Adobe and I imagine soonish that it will be rolled into the Creative Cloud Suite and features over time will be degraded. Not topic of thread but Figma for us is no longer an option for this reason.

I purchased the universal license for the discounted price for the future development of the version 2 apps. With version 1 we got quite a lot of updates and features over that life span of version 1. There are some nice work flow improvements and features for both designer and photo but mainly I purchased now for the discount on the future app improvements which I would then want to buy but at a higher price. Note: The exe and installation issues with the shortucts, icons etc.. are being worked on and an update will be coming to resolve workability issues as stated by serif support in other threads.
