Miltrin got a reaction from Alfred in Help in joining two shapes
Thank you both very much for the help and for giving other options.
I look forward to sharing the final result, when the customer is fully satisfied.

Those shapes should stay separate for gradient / coloring.
you could use gradients, linear for rectangles, conical for circles. Choose the values at the edges wisely.
if you combine all shapes into one, you won’t be able to achieve the gradient.

I don’t mind at all! Please feel free to adopt my idea and to adapt it in any way you like.
As @NotMyFault has confirmed, the shapes should remain separate.

Hi @Alfred very important and interesting your contribution, those little details give another visibility and concept to the shape. I think if you don't mind I'll take your idea.
Going back to the title post, would you unify the shapes to make the path with colour (gradients as we were seeing) or would you "add both shapes"?
By adding we will lose the path of the "O" that goes underneath, won't we?

I agree with @firstdefence about the tail needing modification: at the moment it looks as though you have a P with a pointed tail. For an R with a tail pointing to the right, you need to start with a leg pointing at least slightly downwards as in any capital R. You can still finish off with a pointed horizontal tail if that’s what the client wants.

If you want it to look more like an R than a P the horizontal tail needs modification. Is the artwork dimension constrained, does it need to fit into a space?

Thank you, the outline helps me to understand your intentions.
I would choose other shapes to start with, to simplify the process:
Use start / end angle of donut tool to get the lower bow Create the pieces stepwise, using the full spectrum of add / subtract / intersect. / divide to get the red part divided, i would use „divide“, using a helper circular shape (copy of the black shape moved to the right by the width) i will edit this post and add the file later

I did not fully got what you intend to do, and how.
Please find an alternative version of the paper drawing below, maybe much simpler to achieve.
use pencil to draw curve, from „back“ to top so that top covers back. use special gradient brush to make 3D effect use another curve as clipping path, combined from circle and rectangle, to achieve rounding on right. Hope this might help.

Miltrin got a reaction from Move Along People in Rasterizing layers with blending modes
@haakoo Excellent solution! And I'm sure I'll use it, but I'm left wondering if it's possible to rasterize layers with blend mode.
Edit: With this technique I lose white in some parts of the fruit, like the apple.
Thank you.

Miltrin reacted to Alfred in Masking in Designer
The latter is how I would do it. Clipping/nesting a duplicate of the lower ring (to show only a small part of it on top of the upper ring) is very straightforward, but accurately cutting out the part of the upper ring that you want to make invisible is likely to be quite fiddly.
Create two small shapes (squares in this example) to cover the overlaps, and then create a duplicate of the yellow ring and move it above the blue ring in the layer stack:
Cover the overlap with one of the squares
and then nest the duplicate ring inside the square:
Now create a duplicate of the blue ring, move it above the red ring in the layer stack, and cover it with the other square:
As above, nest the duplicate ring inside the square:
Here’s the result with the nested object deselected:

Miltrin reacted to makolej in Rasterizing layers with blending modes
Hello,
I'm working on a file that has layers with various blending modes applied. I want to export the file to .psd and preserve those effects, but I cannot flatten the whole file (some layers can be merged, but some have to be separate). Is there any way of flattening those groups of layers and not losing the appearance that they have with blending modes applied? Unfortunately I cannot share the file to show exactly what I mean, I hope the explanation is clear enough.
Thank you!

Thank you for answering my question.

Affinity Publisher can only use the main persona of AD and/or APh, and only if they are installed and up to date.

Miltrin got a reaction from jmwellborn in does not open a file
@jmwellborn I want to thank you for what you've done for me.
Thank you for making it possible for me to return to work on this project.
I know I can't make master pages, at least in this beta version. Or finish my work before closing again.
Also thank you for making me laugh for a while with your comments.
Yesterday I didn't answer again because I had to leave home urgently, and until now I didn't go back to work.
@R C-R Thank you for your follow-up on this case.

Here it is, stripped down to not very much. I may have wiped you out. Anyway, here is hoping. Fingers crossed! (Probably eyes as well.) fast casual-4.afpub.

Just a gentle reminder that @AdamW very clearly stated that this beta is "not suitable for production use" or "for any other activity where you may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents." That also goes for the first & most likely the next several betas, because as was mentioned on the announcement page, it will still be "a few months" before the release of the first retail version.
The bottom line is these public betas are intended only for testing so we can report bugs like this one so they can fix them before the retail release, & to encourage comments (in the Discussions forum) about changes & additions we would like to see in that release.

Thank you so much for your information!!! I did not upgrade to the Beta 58. I read some comments about crashes before happily clicking on the download, and have saved v. 57. That seems to be why I could open his files with all of the master page information right there where it belonged. We haven't heard from Miltrin so far, and I do hope that he is working on his project again!!
In some ways, I am a computer-dolt. But I have been reading these forums and creating my own HELP pages, by printing conversations about problems I may also encounter with their temporary work-around solutions. Do you have a good suggestion for me about how to send these crash conversations to the developers? Although I think they may already be aware of this problem.

Miltrin reacted to pixelcoder in Transfer files from iTunes
Hi Miltrin,
For large files like your Tiffs I would use an App called Photosync. https://www.photosync-app.com/ It has an companion App on Windows and Mac. (I have an Windows PC so I use this)
Do you have an Mac? Then you could use Airdrop on the iPad to transfer the files to you Mac as well. https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht203106
The IOS and MacOS of Affinity Photo are almost identical. AP on iOS gives you the same high quality output like the Desktop Version on Windows and Mac.
cheers,
