  1. Nobody needs another Word (for Mac & PC) or Pages (Mac) Even a 4th grader knows this. Serife would be extremely stupid aiming so low. They have with AD & AP already two product shadowing on a Publishing software - - even far of by today. If the make their coming Affinity Publishing software compatible with their AP & AD standard (they will 100% do) and support as now Photoshop files, then they have a very, very competitive offer for professionals. If history is a guide Serife acts until now in PR quite clever is offering updates on a regular basis for its quite professional products, and responding quickly on the board, meanwhile the de facto standard setting sole monopolist Adobe (with its subscription streetgang model) is aiming to suck as much out of their hostages as possible.
  2. Pages is a pretty fine Text editor with some added features allowing some formatting letters or texts. Even some flyers - but thats it. Another class than the pro app XPress. It took Adobe 20 years to get there where Serife is about today after 4 years development - reason is, times have changed and small companies are thanks to independent free sources far more able nowadays to bring SW out faster and better then the fat grown elephants trying to mend their crumbling cement their standards. I bet that Serife is with its professional Publisher (they had a pretty good one already in the market before) giving Adobe a sweating run for its money in 2017 - how high bet?
  3. The answer is: Not yet - but soon coming Affinity Designer is a very fine replacement for any line or text based art like Illustrator, Affinity Photo for Photoshop - but neither for inDesign. Today... That said - the ultimate iDesingn & Adobe killer will come from Serife middle 2017 with (the announced but not officially confirmed release date) Affinity Publisher. A lot of professional folks worldwide are waiting for with their wallet in hand giving Adobe the kiss of death then.
  4. It is still not clear to me why anyone would ever need a macro to place four pictures on a page to print but anyhow - you can record your own macro in AP as explained in this excellent videos: https://youtu.be/1gihPdmYPV0 https://youtu.be/nweR7_osNdM
  5. if so - transfer the pictures to the Affinity designer. But I fail to understand / see the problem. Just put the 4 pictures on a page and print it. Where ist the problem?
  6. You can set the media within AD and AP to source pictures from Macs iPhoto App as well as to any folder you choose. Thats good enough for most of the average user.
  7. Thank you for your advise. The matter was neither about you or me but generally - as I have to be especial careful with Germany as my customer wants to place his name cards there. In Germany there are several lawyers business models build solely around on dragging anyone to court for even the most minor glich - and they are, due to a idiotic legal EU base very effective in doing so. On general they win most of the cases. So I want to avoid any hassle and try from now on to check even more careful all fonts I use.
  8. The subject is how an artist can protect his work for the days to come. And thats impossible with a software based on a subscription model which cuts you out of your own drawings the moment you fail to pay - and thats not the case with Serif's business buy model. I question: Is this of so minor importance?
  9. Dead wrong! The mandarin is currently standing with a machine gun to the users heads and toes. If you fail to pay your subscription (ransom) to Adobe your not anymore able to access your work - nothing, nada, zero, zilch! That cannot happen with a software you own. If this argument is not enough, nothing else will convince you.
  10. I agree with most of your extremely long elaborate. To cut a long argument short. May it be politics, business or art: A single monopolist dictating the rules is not helpful- to put it mildly: cartel (kɑːˈtɛl) 1. (Economics) Also called: trust a collusive international association of independent enterprises formed to monopolize production and distribution of a product or service, control prices, etc 2. (Government, Politics & Diplomacy) politics an alliance of parties or interests to further common aims
  11. legal question: i the above enclosed picture: J&H Visitkarte2.pdf 605.5KB 4 downloads is the wording "traffic solutions" in the typeset "Eras Medium" neither my customer or I have bought. The customer asked me to go ahed and trace it - may this possibly pose legal consequences? And if - for whom? Me or the customer or both?
  12. On the Mac they where to be found within the AP and I put them to the trash - anyhow - thank you indeed for the nice cloud brushes you shared for AD.
  13. the message I got in AP was there the brush was imported successfully three times... So I need to find them - in the App Support folder they are not to be found. UPDATE: found them where also AD stores them - deep in the system - thanks They're stored in two files called raster_brushes.propcol & vector_brushes.propcol. These files are located in: /Users/_YOUR_USERNAME_/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinitydesigner/Data/Library/Application Support/user/
  14. Maybe - but the argument to buy, own and use a product as, how and when you like is a strong one. Forced subscription by a mandarin controlling the market is a business model of the past.
  15. The brushes dont show up in the menu on a AP Mac version - pls advise
  16. I' tracing a scanned headline from a pictures letters to individual paths. So I want to combine all the traced letters / paths into one single layer for convenience. How to?
  17. A link to"https://www.dropbox.com"allows for the exchange / up & downloads of larger files - so one can look at your problem and solve it.
