Hanzz reacted to retrograde in Derwent Brass Band "Diversity" logo/illo for their latest CD
Hi all, here is a recent client project and my first logo/illustration piece done in Designer. It's for the CD cover of the Derwent Brass, a brass band in the UK. The title of the disc is "Diversity" The idea here was to try to suggest or display some of the many instruments in a stylistic way that are included in the band as a grouping that forms the backdrop for the CD's title banner.

My usual process was adhered to here, approved sketch followed by vector buildup of elements on separated layers. See below for screenshots. I made use of the "erase" blend mode to hide certain areas which worked perfectly. Each letter was "skewed" individually, to conform to the contours of the banner. Colour palette was kept to a minimum of blues and golds and a heavy black outline style was used to delineate and visually connect each element. As usual, it was a delight to create in Designer.

I am looking forward to the up-coming distort and warp tools mentioned in the "road map" to be able to do more of this kind of work with type in Designer.

The caricature is a sample of my work, I was testing stuff, to see how to make a poster for a show of my work.
The other shapes just came up, inspired by the great work displayed in the webste.
So far for showing off, I will post more once I have a decent picture....

    Hey there folks,

Hope you all had a great christmas. Here's hoping you all have a cracking' Hogmanay too!

I'd thought I'd share a recent commission I just completed using AD. A Scottish Castle and gardens. Hope you like it. I used the grass tutorial to create my own 'leaf' brush to add texture to the bushes and trees. That was invaluable (thanks Jobalou).

Hanzz reacted to Jakerlund in Adjust brush size like Photoshop
    Hi,

I just bought AD and i love it.

I'm on a Swedish keyboard which doesn't have the bracket keys for resizing the brush.
I noticed that customizable shortcuts are planned which i need because all the little white arrows to get the sliders are quite unpredictable, i usually have to press a few times to get the slider down and stay down.

A request for resizing brushes like in Photoshop where i simply hold CTRL+ALT and click drag left to right to resize and up to down to go between hard and soft.
That would be quick and handy while using a wacom tablet as well.

Mine is pressing the spacebar when applying effects or just anytime to see the object without the coloured bounding box or nodes path visible.

So simple!  I think I smile everytime I do it...

Path offset is used when you need to create an outline of your main shape, maintaining the distance between fixed.
Useful with convex irregular shapes and/or concave geometries.

This is a pretty stupid sample of what I mean...
