Jimmypearf reacted to rui_mac in Introduce Yourself
Hello everyone.
My name is Rui Batista and I'm a graphic designer from Portugal.
I started out a LONG time ago, using Illustrator 1.0 and, after that, FreeHand 1.0
Ever since Adobe "killed" FreeHand, I have been forced to use Illustrator and I hate every second I use it.
I have been searching for viable alternatives and, finally, it seems that I found one. Affinity looks amazing. And at a reasonable price. I can't wait for its official realease.

:) Retweeted and Liked!
After ditching my Adobe Design Suite membership last year, it is time to throw away my recent design tool (Sketch from Bohemian Coding) and choose Affinity Designer & Photo as the one and only primary professional web design tools.

Jimmypearf reacted to cristy in Selection and lighting filter bug
Hi everyone
I just installed the new lovely Affinity photo and start to play with the features. After first test I ran into some bugs:
1. Selection: DRAG+Right Button to add a new selection is not working
2. Flood selection tool works randomly; once even crashes the whole program.
3. The selection cursor is invisible on a dark background
4. Lighting tool. When changing Distance, Inner or outer cone ... in toolbar the auxiliary lines (starting point of the lighting) jump to the top left corner of the image.
5. Selection: Color range. I miss the possibility to select one ore more specific colors

Jimmypearf reacted to Stephen Voisey in Affinity Designer 1.5 sneak peek: Constraints and Symbols
Thanks for creating a brilliant solution Serif and to continue to keep improving it. New features look great, and I noticed a little Star maker there also :)
Will being able to hold down space bar allow me to move around objects as I create them? Aka. Illustrator, Fireworks etc. Still miss this :) Either way, keep up the great work. Looking forward to Publisher also.

Jimmypearf reacted to MarvinR in Camera Information and IPTC Information Not Saved at export
Camera information and IPTC information is not saved when exporting a jpeg file. Tested with "Embed metadata" checked and unchecked in the Export options.
I am new to Affinity Photo so I could have missed a setting some place.
I didn't experience any other problems. The software is very nice and certainly will be buying when released. Great to have the opportunity to do this testing. Looking forward to trying more things tomorrow.
Thanks

Jimmypearf reacted to Andy Somerfield in Affinity TV - Beta Testers Required!
Hello!
We've got a new app coming out - for the latest generation Apple TV (Late 2015)!
It's a learning / teaching tool for users of Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer.
For now, it simply contains all our video tutorial content from the website / Vimeo. We'll of course be adding more focussed, appropriate content over time. We'll also be doing a better job of categorising the content and grouping it together.
If you have an Apple TV (Late 2015) and would like to beta test this new tool - please email tv@seriflabs.com and tell us your email address (the email must be associated with an active Apple ID) - we'll then add you to the TestFlight beta program and you should receive further installation instructions.
Thanks!
Andy.

Jimmypearf reacted to Vicks in No Color Sampler Selection in Select Tab
Ehy huys, I just noticed and thumbled around for a bit trying to find an easy way to select color ranges like in photoshop.
In the select tab I only get to select midrange/hilights/shadows and red green and blue.
Isn't there a way to access a selection tab where you get to sample a color and control the it's range?
PS. and by the way Serif, if I choose English as a language don't installa the Italian version of the software

Jimmypearf reacted to Andrew Tang in Affinity TV - Beta Testers Required!
Out of interest, what advantages does it have over YouTube or Vimeo? I'm surprise its on there. Twitch TV is primarily used for Games - mainly live streaming and E-Sport. Creative work and tutorials is the last place I would expect that site to have. If you take a look at Twitch about page, their first line is:
'Twitch is the world’s leading social video platform and community for gamers.'
I would expect these contents to be available on Vimeo and YouTube though, not Twitch.
Edit: We do have our own channel page in a way. It's on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/macaffinity/videos/

Jimmypearf reacted to Dale in Apple Design Award for Affinity Designer
Hi everyone
We're over the moon to announce that Affinity Designer has been recognised by Apple with a prestigious Apple Design Award at WWDC 2015 in San Francisco. Congratulations to the whole SerifLabs team for such a remarkable achievement, 5 years in the making.
It's the stuff of dreams, thanks to all our fans and forum participants for helping to make it an awesome reality.

Jimmypearf reacted to KC Honie in Affinity Photo is Apple's Best Mac App of 2015
I don't dispute that, but Adobe is obscenely overpriced...
The current feature set and the roadmap of Affinity products should make a lot pf people question their use of Adobe products.
But it would be nice to purchase Photo at the same discount as Designer :)
PS. There desperately needs to be a credible DAM and an import from Lightroom would be fantastic!!!

Jimmypearf reacted to Andreas Franke in Edit in Photo Function doesn't work in Affinity Designer
Same Problem as I postet in Affinity Photo on Windows Beta Forum, It seems so, that AD (1.5.0.32) does not like a path with spaces.
Look at my screencast.

Jimmypearf reacted to Henchard in Laptop Running Hot
First off, let me say that I like the beta application and wish the development team success.
I've got one problem, however. I'm running Affinity on a 15 in. MacBook Pro (core i7, 2.3 Ghz, 16 Gb memory). With anything more than basic adjustments in the app, the laptop temp. will hit 150F+ within a few minutes, particularly with any zooming in. Is anyone experiencing the same thing?
Appreciate your feedback.

Jimmypearf reacted to arechsteiner in Bug: Move tool: Ctrl + Drag does not select objects as expected
According to this video, holding down Ctrl when drawing a box with the move tool should change the selection behavior.
With Ctrl pressed, any object touching the marked area should be selected, however this does not work on Windows. Objects still need to be fully within the area to be selected, even though I'm holding down Ctrl.
I've tried Shift and Alt, but no modifier key seems to have this effect.
Thanks.
PS: Your program is totally awesome nonetheless. It's just a joy to learn about the features and how simple and well thought out things are.

Jimmypearf reacted to Ash in Affinity Designer Workbook
Hi All,
For a number of months now behind the scenes we have been producing a workbook for Affinity Designer, and I'm pleased to let you know it is available from today!
This is a big book - 448 pages, in hardback - and it includes fantastic projects created by some top designers, as well as a comprehensive reference to all our tools and panels, and a set of core skills tutorials.
You can find more information about it here.
Usual price is $49.99 / £37.99, but we are running a 20% discount for the launch making it only $39.99 / £29.99 (+ shipping and handling).
It's worth pointing out that right now the book is only available in English but we do plan to do a German version which should be available towards the end of the year.
Hope you like it!
Thanks,
Ash

Jimmypearf reacted to wordsberry in From doodles to digital work
I've always been a doodler, but recently started working with vector software and these are some of my works I've done with AD. It's only been a month, so I'm hoping I can create some neat looking things by end of 2016.. and hopefully make some professional looking vector art by 2017 :)
