This sort of thing is sometimes caused by coincident nodes (doubles) or nodes very very close to each other. Take a look at the curve while you have the curve tool selected and zoom in to see if there are two nodes very very close together, try moving the nodes with the node tool to check for coincident nodes.

You may be able to open your Affinity document with PhotoPea, and export to PSD (with editable text) from there. 
I have not tried this myself.

I just tried this (with an afphoto file) and it worked OK! (Useful to know.)

Thanks for your report, we have this logged to be improved.

The bake distortions are a big problem, but a perspective Warp Group itself produces terrible results - circles should become ellipses but they become ovoids, and straight lines should remain straight but many become curved. Example below:

 

Yeah, I’m seeing a few 'problem areas' when I use Convert To Curves – see attached video where I have highlighted some of the areas with a green ellipse and am just converting, undoing and repeating to show the difference.

In my account, from the burger menu from within My add-ons you can now optionally expose a new search bar. This gives you the ability to search your content by a search term, or filter based on the type of content it is (brushes, assets, etc.)

Yes, Linked images will still be included when exporting to PDF - the difference is whether the app retains a link to the original file, or embeds it's own copy of the file - as explained in the link above

We would need to see more of the Resource Manager, to see what item you have selected and where the Resource Manager thinks it is. And also probably see what actually opens when you click the button.
Update is only available, I think, when Publisher thinks the image has been modified externally but not yet updated.
Publisher is showing you the Placed DPI. Photo is showing the image's original DPI. The two will be the same only if you Place the file at its original size.

I discovered that converting the object to curves the problem is solved but old versions this never happen

Affinity publisher V2 Beta, problems clicking, no make selections well, Paste Inside no works, the object disappear

When I work on Designer I never know when the app will stop working.
When Serif will fix the problem?

Also confirmed here on Win 10. Might note it's not fixed in the current Beta.
Here's what's disturbing. I can not find any reference info for the menu command Release. I tried the Help file, both online and from within the app. If Serif documented it, they done a good job of burying it.

Why is it that after posting, which is after doing a lot of searching I finally come up with an answer...😒
Look at the command that Release is grouped with in the Right-click menu. Mask to Below. It is used to undo or release a Mask.
Serif needs to get on the ball, crack the whip on whomever is responsible for documentation, (help files) and at least document such things somewhere other than in their own minds.

If the Publisher workbook is like the others, it is not intended as a comprehensive manual or user guide. It will start with an exploration of the user interface and the basic functions, and then proceed into a set of specific projects that serve as worked examples of some of the ways you might use Publisher. You learn about the functions by writing working the examples yourself using the instructions and resources that are provided.

For Apple users like me, Pages has ePub conversion. I used it before for a 250 page book and it worked fine for Kindle, Apple, Google, etc. I have had a book that sells among the top for its genre for several years using this ePub. The only glitch is that Pages has only a TOC, but not an index function. I built the index from scratch with bookmarks. I'm considering Affinity for the PDF version for print functions, (TOC, index, and bleed), since  Apple Pages doesn't have index or bleed, only TOC. So for the price of Affinity,  this all sounds good, but then for ePub, I may copy the book back into Apple Pages for the Epub. I don't know what'll happen to the index. Perhaps some of the formatting will hold and I won't have to build the index in ePub from scratch. I use InDesign for covers, but haven't tried it for the book interior, and Affinity looks less complicated than InDesign, so I may give that a try. For $50, it's worth a try.  

You could export a PDF, and use one of the free tools that will convert PDF to ePub or Kindle formats, such as Calibre.
I know you said you don't want additional software, but if you're working in Publisher I think you have no choice.
