  1. Sorry but Text on a path isn't included in Affinity Photo. Affinity Designer does have the feature but isn't available for the iPad yet.
  2. If you store 16bit developed RAW files then there isn't anyway around it using lots of space. This isn't an Affinity only issue as anything that stores 16/32bt data will also use that amount of space. The only way around these issues is to save lossy compressed 8bit images as JPEG or similar. This is something we may look at in the future.
  3. Thanks for the information but I will give some calculations based on one of your examples; 3456x4608 RAW file will gives; 16 MP with each pixel being 16bit x 3 channels = 100 MB per layer So 2 layers with some editing history could approach a few hundred MB without too much effort. The bug not reclaiming disk space could be magnifying your usage but we will look again after the next patch.
  4. Ever is a long time but we have no plans to develop a generic animation application for the Affinity family but some of the products may add limited feature specific animation capability.
  5. Ever is a long time but we don't ave any plans for a video editor within the Affinity family.
  6. The price of $19.99 is for USD. My guess is you are not USD.
  7. So we do have an issue with reclaiming disk space but only when you create an image from scratch and then only some of the data won't be reclaimed. Will are working on the issue for an update soon. But for Photo to use 6GB on only 3 files then more information would be needed. What is the pixel sizes, colour format, number of layer etc.
  8. I can't reproduce your issues on our iPadPro 9.7 in the office but if you gave us more information then that would help. What image do you start with? What colour format, size etc. When you say add a layer crashes then is that always or after the nth layer. The great thing about closed systems like the iPad is that given the same actions they will all show the same issues so please work with us and we will get it sorted,
  9. This is something we wan to look at for a future update. The main problem is the size of the files you can create in Affinity but we hope we can work around iOS issues to produce a solution.
  10. We tried adding this early in the beta of Photo on iPad but it was too easy to rotate by accident. We moved the functionality to the rotate canvas tool until we can find a more reliable method of detection.
  11. Affinity Photo 1.6.6 is now available on the Mac App Store. Affinity Photo 1.5.2 update now available on the Mac App Store Fixes include Fixed RAW / HDR on macOS 10.7, 10.8. Improved reliability of automatic lens corrections. Fixed some cosmetic stepper issues in Tone Mapping. Fixed a frequency separation crash in 32bit mode. Allow PSD import to skip over ‘psdM’ blocks. Fixed Undo Brush crashes. Fixed issues which could make the Library fail to load. Fixed a potential crash-on-close bug. Fixed a TIFF issue which was preventing people from working on existing documents, or loading some TIFF files properly. Fixed spelling issue that inserted the correctly spelt world without deleting the incorrect word. Numerous other stability improvements and fixes. Many thanks, Team Affinity
  12. Affinity Designer 1.6.0 update now available on the Mac App Store Affinity Designer 1.5.5 update now available on the Mac App Store Fixes include Reduce unwanted screen updates that caused visual artefacts when moving artboards around. Resolved issue with pixel layers inside symbols which are then transformed. Controversial change to pixel documents: 100% view now maps document pixels directly to screen pixels. If you have a retina Mac you will now see 100% view showing a pixel in the document on each pixel on your display. Wireframe view mode now allows the user to select locked items by click or marquee. Basically, if you're in wireframe view and you can see it, you can now click it to select it. This makes wireframe view much more useful for toggling on/off to select specific items in the document. With rulers visible and a high-frequency input device such as a pen tablet (or a mouse in macOS Sierra) the rulers would make the document update very slowly, this has been resolved. SVG export of gradients is now more compatible with QuickLook. Stability fixes for text. Fixed bug applying OpenType contextual rules. Fix for crashes with 32bit documents on Lion and Mountain Lion. Fix for right-clicking a text object in the Text tool failing to select the current word if the user is over the caret. Improved PSD import/export of HSL adjustments. Improved PSD import of fill layers with empty stroke masks and also parse line origination data. Import badly-formed PSD files created by Marmoset. Fix for occasional crash with embedded documents. PDF export fix for Overprint flag which was not getting unset at certain times, leading to items unintentionally overprinting. Fix for system chime noise when holding Cmd+Alt+Space. Fix for layers panel showing incorrect document information when changing from Separated window mode to normal mode if multiple documents are open. Fix for some images opening and saying they are 1dpi. Numerous other stability improvements and fixes. Many thanks, Team Affinity
  13. Dave had a look at the file and it uses clips on fills instead of fills on paths. This seems to allow editing in AI. The only downside is the extra clipping introduced can cause extra complexity in other apps. I guess it's a tradeoff that most people will except. The change will be available in 1.6
  14. Yes, after releasing the clipping path I can edit the linear gradient. Thanks.
  15. But can you produce a PDF file with just a linear gradient that does work. If so can you attach it here.
  16. Yes, sorry. We might be able to achieve it but only through an EPS V8-AI type file. The problem with all the solutions are that they aren't really EPS files but EPS files with AI content in them. V8-AI isn't documented just like V10-AI so is still very difficult to reverse engineer with V10-AI being practically impossible even with infinite resources.
  17. I appreciate how important it is but the only format I know that will work is EPS10-AI files that only Adobe can create. I'm just not sure what we can do.
  18. But Affinity does export EPS files with gradients, it's only transparency that is the problem without embedding an AI file that is impossible for us to do. Are you saying artists are using Inkscape to export gradients and transparencies successfully?
  19. Can you post a PDF from XDP that contain gradients that AI will support?
  20. What application did you use to create PDF gradients that can be edited by AI?
  21. But isn't the example you gave a Illustrator 8 EPS. As far as I know v8 EPS was basically EPS with extra stuff but Adobe moved to EPS + AI embedded because the v8 format didn't support things like transparency. Is this your understanding as for stock vector work - transparency is also a requirement most of the time?
  22. If you include a standard PDF gradient then Illustrator will rasterise on loading the file. We just don't know how to get around this problem. We created our own EPS export code. When you look at an Illustrator EPS 10 file, the content seems to be the EPS plus an embedded AI file that isn't documented anywhere. Again we don't know how to get around this.
