  1. We only support embedding at the moment. Linked files will be implement for Affinity Publisher and will also be rolled out to all Affinity applications at that time. Many thanks, TonyB.
  2. >I was trying to help Serif understand the inertia they're up against. When we decided to develop the Affinity range of applications we knew aiming at the professional market would be hard work with Adobe being so entrenched but I believe we have a good chance. It's difficult to show the advantages of our platform until we release Photo and Publisher but we are aiming to achieve a range of applications that truly work together in a way Adobe Creative Suite can't. All we want to do is offer creatives a choice. Adobe wanted to offer Quark users an alternative, it took a decade of designers saying that nobody could touch Quark but Adobe kept at it and InDesign was the result. Affinity is a 10-15 year project. We are in year 4 and still have a long way to go but i believe Designer is already better than Illustrator for some use cases and this time next year I hope it will better for most. One advantage we have for adoption is price. Your example of passing an Affinity file to someone without Affinity is true but the problem can be solved by a £35 purchase and a bit of learning. We also are planning to release a free version of Affinity that will enable people to open, edit and output files. All we ask is give us a chance. TonyB (Head of SerifLabs)
  3. The folder icon should only be used for grouping/collections but a new layer is a grouping construct so it's fine. If we are using it for other items then it's a mistake.
  4. Text on a path is planned but it will be in one of the post release updates.
  5. Hi Rui Multiple pages/layouts is something we will be working on soon. Affinity Publisher obviously needs this feature and we will expose this in Designer and Photo as well. We are still deciding if artboards are just custom pages but placed where you want them or something different. What would work best for you?
  6. Affinity Designer is just the first application in the range. We will be launching Affinity Photo soon and Affinity Publisher next year.
  7. Thanks for all the feedback MEB. With your help we hope to make Affinity the best range of creative applications available on the Mac. It might take us a while to get there but thanks for your support.
  8. Affinity antialiasing should be equal if not better than iDraw and Sketch. We offer 256 levels and perfect clipping on output. If you find iDraw or Sketch better then explain why and we will improve it.
  9. The idea is to initialise the Mesh to the shape of the object but then let the user edit the Mesh shape independently if they want to.
  10. I agree that in the subtract example it should probably keep the Z order of the first item. What would you expect to happen if you grouped the items?
  11. Mesh fills will come but not for the initial release of Designer
  12. If you have many EPS files and are prepared to help us test the feature then we will have a go at adding it soon.
  13. It would cost in excess of £1,000,000 to develop and maintain the Affinity range of applications on Linux. As soon as we are confident we could recoup the cost then we would consider it.
  14. The Affinity range of applications start with Affinity Designer, then we follow with Photo and next year, Publisher. We might develop a Website publishing app but I'm still not sure what form it should take.
  15. No reason we shouldn't, we just need to write it.
  16. We just haven't written EPS import yet. EPS import is one of the hardest for us to implement as EPS requires a full postscript interpreter.
  17. Contour/offset tool will come but not in the initial release,
  18. Yes, Affinity is a new range of applications for the Mac. Affinity Designer will be our first release and we will then following with Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher.
  19. Well done mate. You really like your LayerFX don't you.
  20. We have no plans to import DrawPlus files. The Affinity file format is completely different to DrawPlus for very good reasons. You will be able to import PDF files soon so that should give even better results than SVG.
  21. I agree. It would be a powerful way to create vector shapes from a pixel layer. We will add it to the feature roadmap.
  22. Yes, import PDF is on its way for Designer and Publisher.
