  1. It was a very pleasant surprise to see these guys, if only their cousins the Evening grosbeaks would show up next, they're breathtaking in colour and markings. My fingers are crossed. In most of this set, the seed feeder was showing, removed with Inpainting tool and cloning.
  2. I didn't do a selective sharpening, I sharpened the whole frame, hence the noise in the background. :(
  3. "He must be much more than a saint 'cause the halo is all around its body!" I can see it on the thumbnail, but for me hardly visible on the full size, caused no doubt by selective adjustment. <_<
  4. Rather unusual for me to get a chance to capture these birds on the ground, or snow in this case.
  5. I got up late, trying to catch up with some paper work for my lawyer. I should not have looked out the window, fatal mistake (my lawyer has to wait until I get the more important work done). I have to first edit my Pine Grosbeak photos before anything else. There they were in all their glorious colour, how could I resist?
  6. Wow! This cat is marked like a jaguar.
  7. Thank you so much for engaging with my audio problem, I will look for the mic you proposed and give it a try. It's coincidental I thought of the lapel mic as an option also. Cheers :)
  8. Hi Gramondo; Thank's for your response and the link. I was already familiar with this excellent tutorial as I have viewed all the current videos. As with any photo editing software, some things are complex as is masking. You are likely aware of this. With the masking technique shown in the Affinity video, it is just as vulnerable to vagaries as the software made by any other author. My video is to demonstrate (not easier) another approach when or if one method fails, my process may work, or at least offer another option. It's a wonderful digital age we live in and I do appreciate you sharing your feedback. All the best, R.J.
  9. Thanks for the feedback, I continue to have audio problems, will try a better mic.
  10. Hello pixel pushers! Here is my latest effort in four chapters, hope you enjoy. Background edit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvg--Fbjxyw Background -2 edit https://youtu.be/fq0v2yjmb-A Background-3 edit https://youtu.be/V22Tb9agDMc Background-4 edit https://youtu.be/aAZfAFkJDS4
  11. Hi Carl; I like this, the premise and the execution. A couple of things I would have done differently, the shadow I would make a lot less dense and also I would erase small multiple bites around the edge to break up the outline as it would be seen on the oat field. Another technical issue is a mature field of oats would completely hide the cat, but this is artistic license on your part and the only option you had. The "cat" looks very much like an ocelot to me, is that correct? Nice to see your work, more please. :)
  12. Hi Rafi; I feel for you, if you are on Skype, send me a contact request at richardc.jones and I could share my screen to help you get started.
  13. "It was a first and I leaned quite a bit!" Give us some more! ;)
  14. Thanks for your feedback Paul, very much appreciated. :) BTW are you from Liverpool my birthplace?
  15. A tutorial showing my cloning technique YouTube BJ-PP-tutorial-1...... https://youtu.be/0DLVY5ofFe8 YouTube BJ-PP-tutorial-2...... https://youtu.be/g_TDLYJGddY Hope you enjoy CC feedback requested.
  16. Gongrats Kodiak, this is stellar work and I learned much, particularly from our Skype conversation and exploring how to link from the forum to your own server. I'm still not sure if I can link an image to YouTube, but the URL will suffice. I can see a huge quality gain by streaming from your own server, not an option me though. I will continue with my QC and try and mach your excellence.
  17. I invite you to view this tutorial of PP on a wildlife photo. It's in two chapters on these links YouTube BJ-PP-tutorial-1...... https://youtu.be/0DLVY5ofFe8 YouTube BJ-PP-tutorial-2...... https://youtu.be/g_TDLYJGddY. I hope you enjoy and would appreciate your input through CC. Cheers, R.J.
  18. As I understand what the Inpainting algorithm does, then it is asking the impossible to have it faithfully reproduce what is behind the man. The camera that took the original could only see on one plane, thus removing the man digitally would just show what is on the next layer down, or if there is no layer then it would show the canvas colour. In short this is not possible, one would have to re-shoot the painting without the figure. Maybe magic has its limitations too. ;)
  19. I will try to do better with any future videos, thank you so much for your kind comment. :D The Affinity team has done a stellar job creating all the support they have done for us. I have never seen this kind of effort in present time from any other company in this line of business. There really isn't any need for my input through videos other than my own personal style for whatever that is worth. The go to for information on "How to" is Affinity Tutorials, one couldn't get a better reference. Good Luck Solly.
