I can see Serif confirmed on Instagram that they were starting work on a blend tool and hoped to have it ready this year, though to be fair to Serif I wouldn't hold them to that timeline. Does seem like they're aware of the ask and are working on it which is great
This is from the comments in the Mesh Warp and perspective live filters reel they did to showcase 2.1 before it was released.

Definitely a thumbs up for a live blend tool, colour options, etc Used the Illustrator one a lot, miss it in AD

To me the Illustrator-like Blend tool is the number one feature still missing. I do hope it will be in Designer rather sooner than late. Blending curves, shapes, gradients and colours would open up so much creative possibilities and speed things. There is just no way to create certain things without it.
Keeping my fingers crossed for 2023.

Maybe Serif should consider allowing plugin development and making a plugin store.
Thus, Serif itself could release first-party high quality plugins as a source of income and at the same time user or thrid-party developer like Astute Graphics could help developing "long wanted, low priority" or some "few needed but hard to implement" functionalities.

I agree with this. Additionally, if they plan to introduce true vector brushes, this will be an important component. Given the lack of other sophisticated (vector) coloring options, a blend tool is essential. I don't think a Gradient Mesh tool is quite as important because of the pixel persona abilities.

dv8.info got a reaction from fusedthings in Still missing a shape (/layer/object) blend tool
The blend tool in Illustrator, or a similar tool which is in just about all other vector design apps, is still missing in Designer. I find it one of my most used tools in illustrator, being able to create a set of intermediate objects that change properties of the first object to the properties of the second. This can be a morph of the shape of an object in specified steps or any other properties like colour graduating from first to last. I was hoping to see this feature in v2

I'm finding the Warp tool to be much smoother and more predictable than the Adobe Envelope Distort tool (BTW)

dv8.info reacted to zydeco Jim in Exporting an Affinity Publisher file to a format Adobe InDesign can import
Most designers are producing page layouts for publications using InDesign, the industry standard. Publications typically have to be shared with other designers who need to repurpose the content with the design software they use. Therefore, an ideal utility that would make Affinity Publisher fit in the workflow of other designers would convert Affinity Publisher files to .idml files. It would be best if the conversion did not require many tweeks to make the text flow and appear exactly like the original Affinity layout when opened in InDesign, but without some capability to export to a format that can be opened in InDesign you just have a stand-alone product. That not how the advertising and publishing world works. Placing a .pdf in either Affinity Publisher or InDesign does not make the content "live" and editable in either application.

It is an independent company what is not tied to Adobe. And Astute in the past just talked in this forum willing to develop plugins for Affinity suites.

I too was disappointed to see this wasn't part of 2.0, but I'm hoping this fresh infusion of capital (from finally letting us support Designer again, some for the first time since 2014!) will allow Serif to staff up a bit more and build out some of these long-requested features (without taking another eight years).
Vector warp is huge, and it's so good to see it finally come to Designer. I hope the fact that even the hero image for the feature, which shows a field of stripes that you must currently create one at a time by hand, means a blend tool is in the works for 2.1!

Blend tool (object blending) has been requested since 2015. It's a crucial part of doing parametric / creative work. Any chance to put in onto priority / pipe?
Thanks

dv8.info reacted to Barry Meyer in Designer V2, Object Blend Missing?
On a quick look, Designer V2 has some impressive new features, and to be honest ones that I had never thought of and may prove extremely useful. But, unless I'm missing it, still no object blend. This is a much requested feature and a standard in vector software for about 30 years. I imagine I'll still get the upgrade, but this is extremely disappointing and forces me to use other software at times because this one feature is missing.

dv8.info reacted to MikeTO in Zoom/View tool double-click not working
It's because Designer has the stacked combination of Zoom and View tools and you can't double click the stacked tools.
Choose View > Customize Tools and remove the stacked tools and add the separate Zoom and View tools. Now you'll be able to double click them.

Zoom Tool Double-click not zooming to 100%
View Tool Double-click doesn't fit to window.
Working as expected in both Photo and Publisher just not in Designer.

dv8.info got a reaction from weblackey in Plug-in wish list
Affinity Photo and Designer are just getting better and better. I'm longing to escape Adobe's draconian rule. Bring on Publisher.
Here are a couple of suggestions re plug-ins:
I got to relying heavily on auto font activation from Extensis Suitcase Fusion. It would be really good if Extensis auto activation plugins could be developed for Designer and Photo. And I would really like to see Astute Graphics plugins in Designer, I find I'm always using these tools too. They're very good.
