  1. I'm still learning the specifics of Designer coming from Illustrator- that's a great help for me in more ways than the cursor. Thanks!
  2. I've searched and don't see anything on this topic. I don't like the little graphic cursors like the little pencil or pen when I'm using those tools. I much prefer a precise crosshair cursor for all tools. I don't see any option to get this in the preferences like in Illustrator. How do I get my precise cursors? Thanks
  3. Ok- I get it now. Thanks. I was just assuming that it was grouping the layers because that's how grouped layers sort of look in Photoshop. I'm getting the kinks worked out bit by bit. One other question for now, if you don't mind- When you already have a tool, such as the brush tool, selected, and hit the B key again, it will toggle to the last selected tool. Is there a way to turn this off? So whenever you hit the B key it will only put you onto the brush tool? I haven't been able to find a way. Thanks again
  4. In Affinity Photo, I'm trying to reorder layers by dragging them within the layers panel. When I drag a layer it's automatically grouped to the layer above the position where I moved it to. I can drag a layer all the way to the top, but if I try to drag a layer up a couple of positions and drop it between two other layers, it's grouped to the layer immediately above where I wanted the layer. How do I reorder the layers without grouping them? Thanks
  5. When sizing an object, a little popup with the size values follows the cursor around. I find this little thing distracting, redundant (the same information is shown in the transform tab), and it gets in the way visually. I would like a radio button in the preferences that allows me to hide the popup. I tend to find any additional popups, including textual labels for tools and such at least a minor irritation, a major one if it happens to block something important. I have the same issue with other programs- especially mail clients. At any rate, I would like the option to hide all popup labels, but be able to right-click (where appropriate, such as a tool in the tool bar) in order to get the popup to show in case I'm not familiar with a tool or something and want to see what it is. Thanks
  6. When free transforming an object a little popup appears with the size values in it- I find this redundant (same thing is shown in the Transform Tab), and it gets in my way visually. How can I hide this little popup? I've poked around, but haven't been able to figure it out. Thanks
  7. Thanks for the reply- the image IS showing up in the Acquire Image window, and the scanner stand-alone software works just fine to scan images and put them into a destination folder. I was trying to scan the image directly in to Photo. In the past when I have used , say, Photoshop to scan, it works very similarly to how I did it in Photo, except when the scan is complete, the image is automatically opened in Photoshop. Using Photo, I clicked the Acquire Image command, it opened the scanner interface, I clicked Overview to 'pre-scan' the image, that worked and I could see the image, so I selected the image area and made some adjustments to the brightness, etc... and clicked Scan- when the scan was complete, the image didn't appear any where that I could find in Photo, and I couldn't find the scan in any destination folder that I looked in- the interface went from displaying the little progress bar with "don't open the cover" back to the same state it was when I hit Scan (which is what I would expect), but the scan is nowhere to be seen. I don't know what I'm missing- does it not work the way I think it does? or is the scan going somewhere that I don't know about? Thanks again
  8. I've just purchased Affinity Designer and Photo. In Photo, I clicked File/Acquire Image, then selected my scanner, did the overview scan, made some adjustments and clicked Scan. The Scanner sprang to life and apparently scanned the image, but there was no change in Photo. The Acquire Image window stayed the same, and I don't see the scanned image anywhere. I close the Acquire Image window, and there is no image in Photo that I can see. Where is my scan? What am I missing?
