LeonLQ got a reaction from Chris Heath in Designer 2.3.0 not opening file (solved but just so you know)
Using 2.3.0 on my M1 MacBook Pro 14" running macOS 14.1.2 (23B92). In the past couple of weeks it started to fail opening files that's larger than 200MB in file size.
Sometimes it took 10min or so to open the file eventually, but most of the time it just says opening file in the title bar without anything actually happening for even hours. Trying to quit the APP shows a popup saying there's a file being opened so the APP won't quit. Force quitting the APP works but the problem persists when opening files larger than 200MB again.
I solved this by removing Affinity Designer 2's permissions to open any file or folder in macOS System Preference > Privacy and Security > Files and Folders (disabling all sliders in this setting). I can then open any .afdesign file without any problem. Whenever I enable the sliders, the problem reappears.
I can now use the APP without any problem with those permission sliders disabled. But I think this is a weird bug so I would like to share with you guys. Just so you know.

It could be related to the general preference setting "Automatically update linked resources when modified externally".
Possibly your document is attempting to update a linked resource that's not available. I've read a couple of such reports here earlier this week.
That might also explain why revoking the security permission seemingly fixes it.

Thanks for posting here. I just hit the same issue with Publisher 2.3.0 on Mac. Opening large files (all my Publisher files are large files) got stuck and would never actually open the file. This was true for files in iCloud Drive and elsewhere.
Disabling the access in System Preferences solved my problem too and now the files open instantly. (Which is weird as now Publisher shouldn't even be able to open files from iCloud.)
Annoying bug, hopefully fixed soon, thanks for sharing workaround I'd never have guessed!

Same thing happens on my environment as well (M1 Mac mini / macOS Big Sur 11.5.1 / Affinity Designer 1.10.0 App Store version). Hope this will be fixed soon.

LeonLQ got a reaction from affinity4Christ15 in Pinch Zoom Stopped Working
Found this topic at last...I have the same problem as well.
My touchpad on MBP 2016 13" with Touch Bar works fine with all apps, but some months ago the Pinch to Zoom stopped working from time to time. I could fix it by turning the pinching functionality on and off several times in system preference. By it kept happening and it bother me, especially when Im working on a design and zooming in and out is a very often task.
I tried to pin-point the source of this issue and found that Affinity Designer is the reason. My other apps (Adobe PS, AI and other stuff) work just fine. But whenever I launch Affinity Designer, there's a 90% chance that after some time the Pinch to Zoom will stop working. By quitting Affinity Designer, the pinching would work again after some more minutes.
I tried to turn off every touchpad related option in AD but the problem is still there. It's not a big issue, but somewhat inconvenient. Turning the pinching on and off in system preference is by far my only solution whenever this problem occurs, since it always happen when I have loads of design to work on AD and restarting can be a pain in the ...

BTW, I have another MBP which is a 2015 model that comes with a conventional trackpad (instead of a force-touch version), and this problem never occurs.

Could anyone in Affinity dress the issue?
