  1. • After an hour in our training room, preparing for a hockey game the next day, my younger son popped up in the stu- dio to say he will join us after a quick shower. I thought this was my chance to make a good shot of him at his second favourite sport: archery. With serious table top work in progress, I used natural light from the very large patio door of the studio as none of the flashes was available. He was not in the mood to grant me the shot but gave me 5 minutes. This is the result after some minor retouche in AP… C&C welcomed!
  2. • Yes, a rather simple and quick way! The WB tool is the last one in the tool column under the Develop button. In the Develop Persona, select the WB tool and sample with the cross-hair. This may be perfor- med on any file format opened in AP.
  3. • Like possibly most fathers, I showed my son, with satisfaction, that his poster already has four likes and a cool comment from Jer! —"…but Dad, I did not do everything alone… you had the idea to convert all but the Strat and did it!" Right, I forgot that detail… sorry! All the rest is his though.
  4. Is there a workbook for Affinity Photo in English too?
  5. • See? See? Thats what I mean… crazy good designers! I am very jealous… me that can't even hold a pencil or a pen :( I'll stick with my pixels! … the camera fits better in my paws! :) Cool stuff,Paul!
  6. • Hey dinoburner, A light modifier (or light shaping tool) is a piece of equipment that is attached to a light source so to modify its light output. Such as… This new acquisition gives at the same time crisp details and yet a soft glow to an image. Here is a link to a video introduction to light shaping… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qgq_AReemN4 Have a good time!
  7. • Well, it was the first of many things for my son: first shot he sold. The artist saw it on our website and called in first poster project commissioned by the artist and first time he worked with Designer. For a 17 yo, not bad at all! … my only contribution is to post it here.
  8. • This is breathtaking! The car, the BG, light direction and highlights are all very convincing to me. I know I'm just a photographer in a vector world but my eye tells me the wheels reflections… maybe…
  9. Cool, merci Madame! Thanks Steve. I have to shoulder some crazy good vector graphic artists I discovered here!
  10. Thanks David, I approach these only with a 600 mm… safer distance! ;)
  11. • Again, for a client. While all the "stage light" was performed in my RAW converter, AP was used extensively to clean up the scene as many distrac- ting fallen leaves and other debris were swimming, and so, ren- during the image too busy. The inpainting and patch tools have been very helpful at that.
  12. Salut Chris, Comme toi, tout ce que je veux c'est le remplacement avec l'outil Correcteur (Patch). J'ai trébuché sur une solution: — une fois la selection faite, je choisi l'outil "clone" et ça marche, la correction se fait très bien.
  13. • Here you go Chris, this is the SOOC…
  14. • This take served three purposes: a lighting study session for my sons a first project proposal for a client for me, an approach to the Inpainting Brush in AP as the table top surface had too many imperfections. The presentation was successful though the final shot was more colourful with some added BG.
  15. • I knew I would face the fury of my sons for buying yet an other light modifier but this new approach to light shaping is just too irresistible. I borrowed a mannequin from a neighbour for this improvised test session. I set some BG and used that single new light source. AP was used to repair the many blemishes and scratches. 85 ƒ1.4 on D810, studio flash and new modifier.
  16. • Taken with a 600 ƒ4 on D810. A young female (in foreground) is sizing possibly a young male for next spring…
  17. Thanks for that… madness is hardly a bad thing in my book! ;) I don't have the talent to vector anything so I'll stay with the pixels. As a new member to this forum, I will need some time to locate all the bells and whistles… by now, I already found the feature request section
  18. • I am a photographer since 40+ years and discovering/exploring Affinity Photo since a year + (most happy to get away from the CC!) A long time user of Capture One Pro, I desperately need a pixel edition software and AP seems to be the thing. This shot was taken last week for a client in Vienna. Is there a place in the forum to express wishes?
