    @stokerg
The Windows 11 color emoji font recently added the COLRv1 format in addition to the existing COLRv0 format (which Affinity does support currently).
So it is only a matter of time now until an Affinity user asks why their color emojis do not look the same as in other Win11 apps (e.g. Word) which display the COLRv1 versions.
Supporting COLRv1 would solve that issue - and this one.
Please make a note to the devs in AF-2609.

I'm afraid that I can't remember what I was doing at that time except that I was working on the same drawing. I have been away since then until today when I hope to pick-up on the drawing again. If the crash happens again I will make a note of what I was doing at the time.

I'm able to replicate this. It seems like the redraw is getting confused when you show/hide the layer.

    Hi @Tom Blake,
Having double-checked this with QA, they confirmed our support for JPEG 2000 is currently only for J2K and JP2.  So this isn't a bug and would be more of a Feature Request to support JPX.
I'll get this moved over to Feature Requests

The Aref Ruqaa Ink font found on Google Fonts is an SVG colour font, which also doesn't render correctly in the Safari web browser (you see it for a second and then it disappears).
In looking at the font in both FontLab and Glyphs I've noticed there are some undefined mkmk (mark to mark) lookups which could cause issues, but it's most likely that a combination of SVG + colour + undefined mkmk features is causing the problems. I suspect when Affinity loads the available fonts on start-up, this specific font is likely creating an exception and/or race condition somewhere in the apps causing it to hang or crash.
Google Fonts is a great resource, but not all fonts on Google Fonts are created equally—the quality varies greatly (metrics, features, etc)—and as such, not all fonts work as expected.

In this particular instance I do not think there is a quality issue with the font.
The font was created by an expert.
And was created to demonstrate advanced font technology.
    The font contains three formats:
Monochrome  (in the glyf table) COLRv1  (in the COLR table) Color-SVG  (in the SVG table) My guess is Affinity is confused by the COLRv1.
And simply does not know what to do with it, and gets stuck.
COLRv0 and COLRv1 are both in the COLR table, but have different formats.
My guess is it sees the COLR table, and tries to load it, and chokes on it.
    Many browsers support COLRv1.
    Some browsers only support Color-SVG.
Browsers should be smart enough to use the format they do support.
So that font should provide color text in most browsers.
Affinity should be smart enough to not get stuck on a format it does not support.

Just to let you know I've logged the crash when applying the Master Page with the Developers.
I'll also get the issue with the picture frame claiming to be on the Master logged, once I've confirmed it's not already logged as I'm sure I've seen this happen before.

To address some of what is being said on this thread...
Firstly to be clear I'm not a founder, but have been with the company for 25 years. I'm officially appointed as Managing Director of the company, but also use CEO as my title as that is my role in terms of how other countries would view it.
Both Canva and us have made 100% clear we are committing to perpetual licences always being available. That will include V3 or any other future major upgrade of our apps which are released. What's more I will say with Canva's backing we are not under the same financial pressure we would have been to release a V3 anytime soon, meaning those of you using V2 will actually benefit from more features as free updates which may previously have been held back for a V3 if that makes sense. This is of great benefit from an engineering standpoint too as we are far better testing and releasing features in smaller chunks than saving them up to package up as a sellable upgrade.

As we have made clear there will at some point be a subscription option also which people can take if they choose to. I'm sure there will be additional benefits to that subscription in the future such as asset and document sync, sharing and collaboration and other things which naturally require a subscription as they are features which incur ongoing cost. It may also include other things which can be leveraged with a Canva subscription such as greater stock libraries of images, graphics and fonts. Hopefully that would just be considered reasonable and understandable. There will certainly not be any cynical cutting down of features or limitation of ongoing support in our existing apps just to force a subscription play.
I understand examples of previous acquisitions can make some of you fearful, but they are just historic examples - it has no bearing on what will happen in this case and we are genuinely doing something here which is very different and special. Everything I said on Tuesday, and what both Canva and us pledged yesterday, is 100% true and we are going to stand by it. That includes keeping our entire team here with no layoffs, and continuing to be based in Nottingham.
If you want to believe this or not is up to you, I'm not sure what more we can say at this point to convince those who doubt it. We'll deliver on this over the coming months and years so whatever is being said right now I know it's going to be all good and assuming you are still using Affinity apps you will be happy with how they have developed and that we have continued to be fair and inclusive with our pricing.
Also to follow on from Patricks point - I can take some of the personal attacks on me, but I have to say some of the conduct on this thread with some of you being very quick to attack other community members just because they hold different opinions is really disheartening to see. You can absolutely give your opinion on this deal for sure, and we are happy to leave this as an open forum within reason, but that does mean being courteous to other forum members and not just repeating the same points over and over.
    Thanks,
    Ash

    Hi @Andreas S,
Glad to hear the file no longer crashes once you've unpinned 'Hat-House'...
You will need to edit the Master Page elements on that page so you can move the 'Stocking_Frame' group outside the Master Page elements. That way it won't 'vanish' when you apply the A4 Master...

Ash and the folks at Affinity have always done right by me in the past and I take him at his word. They brought us this far and I believe they will bring us more in the future. I don’t like the fact that some people are belittling the honesty and integrity of anyone based on absolutely nothing other than a crazy personal view. Let things work out and then make a decision that suits you.

You can read about them here.

We do truly believe the coming together of Affinity and Canva is only going to be a good thing for our customers, staff and the development of our apps. We very much hope you will all continue to be with us on this journey.
    All the best,

    Hi All,

I am thrilled to announce that Affinity is joining the Canva family.
This is a moment of great excitement, anticipation, and profound gratitude for all of you who have been part of our story so far.
We know that those of you who’ve put your faith in Affinity, some since we launched our very first Mac app, will have questions about what this means for the future of our products. Since the inception of Affinity, our mission has been to empower creatives with tools that unleash their full potential, fostering a community where innovation and artistry flourish. We've worked tirelessly to challenge the status quo, delivering professional-grade creative software that is both accessible and affordable.
    None of that changes today.
In Canva, we’ve found a kindred spirit who can help us take Affinity to new levels. Their extra resources will mean we can deliver much more, much faster. Beyond that, we can forge new horizons for Affinity products, opening up a world of possibilities which previously would never have been achievable.
Canva’s revolutionary approach to design democratisation and commitment to empowering everyone to create aligns perfectly with our core values and vision. This union is a testament to what can be achieved when two companies that share a common goal of making design accessible and enjoyable for everyone come together.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to our incredible Affinity team. Your passion, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence have been the driving force behind our success so far, and I can’t wait to continue this journey with you all.
To our loyal users and the creative community, your support and feedback have been invaluable. You’ve inspired us to push boundaries and continuously improve, and we’re excited to embark on this new chapter together.
The future is bright, and I am incredibly excited to continue our story together and create a world where design is within everyone's reach.
    With heartfelt thanks,
    Ash
    For more information...
We have included some FAQs at the bottom of the announcement article here. A video message from me with some more background is on YouTube here.

Additionally we will be setting up a Q&A session about this acquisition in a few weeks time. More info on how to take part in this will be sent on email and posted on this forum in the coming days.

    Hi @TrentL,
So I've just heard back from QA with the following:
    1) The Base Texture heavily influences it
    2) Nozzle (Dense Oil has a pretty solid nozzle and Fibers Oil has holes in it)
    3) Spacing can affect it
There isn't a setting under Edit Brush>Dynamics that controls this.  So it's not exactly straightforward and more a combination of things.  Hopefully, the above information helps

So last night when I was having the problem, I quit the app several times, and the problem kept happening.

I'm not sure what changed but I'll keep my fingers crossed that it was a one time problem.
    Thanks again.
