It took about 5 app-starts and then it was slow again. Clearing helps, but then the issue appear again and again. Is this common behaviour?

Disable the "Enable Metal compute acceleration". That including using OpenGL fixed it for me. There are HUGE changes in performance depending on the settings, but Serif haven't been very vocal about it.

It would just be bouncing all the time, but you suggestions helped! Now its back to an almost instant load! Great

    Hi @Morten_Hjort,
Do the apps stay in the dock with the bouncing effect whilst you are waiting for them to load or does it get stuck loading at the splash screen?
Could you try resetting one of them to their default settings and see if it still takes a long time to load:
Go to Applications in Finder and find Photo/Designer/Publisher Hold down Ctrl, click on the app and click open whilst still holding down Ctrl This will prompt for a new menu 'Clear User Data' with three boxes checked Press clear at the bottom right hand corner and confirm if this improves load time

Substitution is (meant to be) temporary, so that if you subsequently open the document on a computer where the original font is installed it will be displayed as the designer intended. If you want to switch permanently to a different font, either edit the style definitions or use the ‘Find & Replace’ feature.

Morten_Hjort reacted to R C-R in Table borders in Publisher (Mac)
Nothing changes because you do not remove the outer border by choosing any of the other border options. They all work together to provide every possible combination of cell borders, but unfortunately that makes how the UI works much harder to understand.
To do what you want, try selecting all the cells that you want to remove the outer border from, click on the "Outside" border button, & from the Cell Stroke popup (it's to the right of the stroke color swatch at the bottom of the Stroke & Fill section) select the 'no stroke' Style icon (the circle with the slash through it) or alternately set the stroke color to 'no color.'
That will remove the outer border stroke from every selected cell, leaving all the inner borders unchanged. The other border options work similarly, making it possible to set any cell or group of cell borders to any combination of colors, stroke thicknesses, & stroke styles.
Strictly as an example (because I can't imagine any real world use for it) table border style riot.afpub shows a few of the possibilities.

No, all of our shipping platforms are equally important to us.
I'm the lead dev for Windows here, as well as being responsible for implementing the GPU compute support. So I can assure you, I'm being neither dishonest nor amazingly ignorant.
We're not circumventing anything. Your example isn't what our application does, and assuming you're talking about YCbCr decoding using WIC and Direct2D,  then this isn't a cross platform solution, and it only applies to a tiny sub-fraction percent of what our application does.
We don't interact with GPU drivers directly.
    This isn't true, see next...
If you run out of VRAM then the OS has to page from system memory which has an enormous performance penalty. If you want to access memory from a GPU other than the one you're currently running on, then you have to transfer it across the PCIe bus, to system memory and then back out across PCIe to the other GPU. Again, there's a huge cost there.
The reason they wrote Metal was to have a unified API for rendering and compute, that was as close to the 'metal' as possible (i.e. minimal abstraction around physical hardware). OpenCL does not cover the same functionality as Metal (OpenCL is purely compute, Metal is not), so you cannot even begin to compare them.
Direct3D abstracts the hardware and driver, the same as Vulkan abstracts the hardware and driver, the same as Metal abstracts the hardware and driver, the same as OpenCL abstracts the hardware and driver, the same as CUDA abstracts the hardware and driver (but for NVIDIA only).
You have to accept that there are differences in hardware, software, and ecosystem for macOS/iOS and Windows.

I am pretty sure that the current GPU is Your bottleneck. 5k are a lot of pixels that need to be pushed. An eGPU with a modern GPU with, say, 8GB should help.
Just the other day I was testing a 4k detachable tablet/mobile workstation from HP. The native resolution was jus too heavy even for the Nvidia Quadro inside. Once I reduced the resolution to FHD (which, btw., looks just as fine on the puny 14in panel) panning and navigating suddenly became fluid.
You could give lower res a try, maybe You won't even notice. Of course, that somehow defies the purpose of having spent money for the insanely highres LG

True, but its seems like a bit of hack for a small (but veeeery nice) feature. Hope they add it in a future update. At least an obvious thing to add between AD and AP now they have it running in Publisher

Morten_Hjort reacted to reminous in Change default constraints
    Hi there,
You can actually achieve that today using two different methods:
    1) Create your design using objects and artistic text, then group them and apply constraints (View/Studio/Constraints). Then set the text to not scale, you might want to constraint the left and top position as well. I bet that this would be de most common method since you're doing UX and the constraints were actually build with that in mind.
    2) You could simple create your design with frame text instead artistic text... Then you just select your objects (group it if you want) and scale the whole think without worrying because the text frame will expand/stretch but the text will remain the same. If you want to scale the text, you can do it by using the second marker on the corner.
I did two quick videos to illustrate it better. I hope it solves your problem!

1.7 will support eGPU devices but while it is still in beta I am not aware of how much performance gain this will achieve, there are some tools being rewritten to take advantage of the GPU and more information will be available closer to the 1.7 release date.

Morten_Hjort reacted to Sean P in AD: Artboard in Artboard?
    Hi Morten_Hjort,

Thanks for the file. Putting an artboard inside an artboard isn't the best way to work, as you get the artboard label showing and it then appears shows empty space in the rest of the artboard where the contents are cropped to the first.

I'll speak to development to see if artboards should even be placed as child objects of other artboards.
As for your document the best way to work would be to create an individual layer inside the artboard you want to make a symbol of and then make a symbol of that Layer rather than the artboard. See attached screenshot as an example!

Hi, why not just add stroke and thick it to the number of pixel wanted? (eventually expand stroke afterward and "add" the two curves to merge them together)
