Yeah, it's a pretty obscure item. It's called a dub siren, because it's used predominantly in reggae and dub music. It's a cheap synthesizer, similar to those used in old toy guns to generate different type of laser-like noises.
 
I don't have the DS-01 anymore (hence the isometric homage, I was saying good bye to it lol) because I got the new one, but is similar enough. So here's a short demo.

Thanks @avo, the idea was to keep it between realistic and yummy. I went for a warmer feel than the original machine has.

I've been playing around with this brand which I work for since 2003 (yep, not a typo... I'm getting old).
 
These 3 are different stages of the last iteration of the logo. We relaunched the brand late 2014, around the same time I switched to Designer. The (mildly) interesting thing is that they represent very well my daily dilemma working with Designer: Should we always go as far as the software allow us? What I mean is this: the 2015 version is, in my opinion, better as a logo than the most recent ones. What do I see in the 2018 version? That I had A LOT of fun with Designer that day.

Practicing with @Frankentoon's comic book brushes and color and gradient swatches, so decided to start with something simple. Funny how when you try something you realize how much more you have to learn about it. Gotta work on those line weights... 
 

Long registered here, but one of my first few post. Finally downloaded the trial version, and I'm loving AD a whole lot...and, not the AD my ex-wife said I had, either. 
 
I decided to just play, and start with a logo, using flat colors, until I get a better handle on gradients.  I'm a long-time user of Draw-Plus, but AD just makes things so much easier....so many more possibilities.

The project is finally done. For the past 13 weeks I’ve been working on a gaming magazine while at SAE. The magazine deals with gaming but unlike other magazines where they talk about news and reviews TossUp talks about in-depth gaming information such as what works, what dose not, fail within games, game mechanics and more. The project was made with a  mix of affinity designer, affinity photo and indesign.

Love the graph/chart. Subtle.

Today I did the design of the next site. And I remembered about the wonderful program that I bought and did not regret, it's Affinity Designer! Very powerful tools for UI, Web and advertising layouts. This is not advertising, it's just a statement of facts. Having worked almost half a lifetime in design, I came to the conclusion that nothing lasts forever in terms of tools for the designer;). Times change and need too. Now many tools have been developed that help to realize their ideas, and Affinity Designer does not take the last place. It's good that developers pay a lot of time and effort to ensure that the user is as convenient and effective as possible! Having worked in Affinity Designer, I can not go back to similar products of competitors, the habit is such a thing =))

Ros, I only had it hang a few times (2-4? I forget), never ending beach ball.  I don't remember it slowing down much on my hackintiosh desktop but I was mainly using the macbook and it did sometimes grind, not to a standstill but it wasn't too happy either. In the end I worked on the wheel and tyre in a different doc and copied it back over just to keep things running more smoothly. But most apps would have slowed down with that many objects, Illustrator certainly does.
md, if I'd realised quite how long it was going to take I probably wouldn't have started and yes I think I'm probably OK with the pen tool, not that there's a whole lot to it. You won't have any trouble picking it up either.

This is my first work in Affinity Designer.
Didn't expected to enjoy this software this much after only few days of using it.
I call this one "Red Moon"

I just purchased AD and it is very fun to use !
I tried to make some 3D text in Designer and ended by making theme editable like I was used to do in After Effects.
Indeed, this could be usefull when you have to modify the 3D text.

I am a software engineer, I really hope we will have soon some ways to develop plugins or scripts for AP or AD !

This was my first major design using AD for the main design and AF for the mesh warp to achieve the roof panel curves. Although I used a photograph as a template, this was done intentionally as the object of the whole exercise was to learn the processes involved with these fantastic programmes.
Hope you do not take offence at my using a photograph as a template.
