  1. Jmac, The course on lynda.com is all new content the sample content is all different the only similarity is these are both for the beginners so most of the features covered are similar. There are things I cover in the lynda course that I did not cover in Udemy course because those 1.4 features twere not available at the time of recording. when I create the Udemy course (1yr ago). They are two different education platform. and in my Udemy course, I have a support forum and can add additional video at will, which allows me to be responsive and more engaged wit my students. This functionality does not exist in the Lynda platform. If you take either of these courses you get the same solid foundation, but with entirely different content. Did that answer your question? -R
  2. There always room for more information and a point of view Different people have different ways of consuming information as well as there are different teaching styles. Some might say I can just read the manual why would I bother watching any of these videos. I like to hope that people who take my course learn a few things beyond just the tool and feature. I also hope the samples and content I provide are different from the projects and samples anywhere else. If not would have some legal problems with my employer lol.
  3. You are welcome Madame. And I am not offended at all. I understand that my style of teaching is not for everyone. Ther isn't one way to teach any topic or subject. So, it is totally ok and understandable if my talking style does not work for you. The way I teach is as if I was sitting with a friend showing you how something work explaining what I'm doing along with the why I am doing it. When you have a friend showing how to do something you might interject and as why did you do that and since online video is a format where you can't do that. I try to think of those things and by doing so results in a lot of talking to support what might not be going on the screen. You said "you like videos that don't include so much talking" because you are not an English speaker then yes it very obvious that my video will not work for you and that is perfectly fine and not offensive to me. I can't please everyone, unfortunately. :( This course is called Essential Training. It is for beginners or someone who has little experience with this application and in some cases, they may have zero creative design experience so the additional talking is to give additional support to the questions a total newbie might have beyond just the how to do it. If you are an advanced user you might find a tip, technique, function or approach to a problem that you might not have thought of that may prove valuable in your own process so in this case you are just watching the video to learn a tip or two or maybe a feature you did not know existed within the application. Thank you so much for your respected and honest comment as well as your kind words of support. I will keep you comment in mind when I produce future content. Trust me when I say I don't do this for vanity I do it because I really do care and want to share the knowledge and approach in a way I wish someone would have shared with me when I was learning how to do this stuff. Hopefully I did not offend you with my answer. Thank You Madame!
  4. Yes, you got that right. I been super busy and have not been as active as I like to be on the forum. Busy good, but I do like helping out when I can. I would love to see what you been doing in 3d. Speaking of 3d I love to get back to doing some that again. Ugh there are only so many hours in a day...sigh
  5. Don't worry it will. As annoying as it is it not a bad thing. Not many apps can be compared in that way, especially out the gate. Affinity is only Version 1.4 in a couple of years Adobe is 20 years in the game and sits at the top of the food chain. Affinity already has caught up in many places and surpass Adobe in others. Time will tell but the only way it will loose this comparison and take it rightful place in the industry is to keep creating great tools and functionality and people like yourself spreading the word. and showing what can be done. Exciting time are ahead for the creative community!

  11. I am a bit confused by what you are trying to achieve ultimately. here are my question: 1. Do you want the final format to be .eps and if so why does the final file you have shared as .eps file with an image placed inside? 2. Is it required that your final input be an .eps, svg or pdf? if not will a .png with transparency be enough for your needs? 3. what exact method did you use when you traced this logo? I have take the file you supplied, rasterized the image by right clicking and choosing rasteriize. I created a mask using pixel selection because the file you supplied was an image that had to be rasterized because there wasn't any vector information in the file. now that the image has a mask and the transparency of the file is set to transparent you can export a png with transparency. This will be fine for most screen resolution but where you will run into issues if you try to scale this logo up beyond the 192 DPI and 12inc by 2-inch size you have defined. Meaning that it will not print well beyond that size. I included a link to the file here. If you have any questions about what I did feel free to ask I will be happy to assist you further. Cheers, Ronnie
  12. Yes, you are right. Blown highlights basically mean's their absolutely no data there and results in pure white. So you have recolor refabricate the information that not there.
  13. Today I working out some new techniques. I am looking forward to sharing some of this stuff in the new content I will be posting. Thanks for the tweets and emails everyone. It really has been great to hear the content I have provided has been of use. It really has been humbling to hear from so many of you in support of me creating more content. I have been busy with client work and travel, but I am finally getting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and I have a few things I been dying to share with you, but you have to hold on a little bit longer. In the meantime. enjoy this coupon to take my course for 25.00 USD
  14. Retro! Thank,s man...here I thought I was forgotten. Yeah I've been so busy which is a good thing. I have some new stuff I'm working on. I hoping to share in Q1, but I need to get through the holiday and travel. heading to Switzerland for the Christmas. Man, I wish I had time to play some games. I got a stack I bought sitting by my ps3 that I have not had a chance toplay and now there a PS4 out lol.
  15. I can't wait til you guys over at Affinity are able to implement the most bad-ass arrow tool, so this thread can die already. I mean this thing better not only point, but it better be so dynamic when people use it they can't help but to cry because it so damn beautiful! I want Tony to deliver a Keynote address in Steve Jobs attire. I would like Tony to tell use this arrow tool is the "best one yet" I want him to tell us how amazing it is and how the competitors can't touch Affinity's proprietory arrow creation technology. When Tony unveils the demo I want to see white doves let out into the ski and confetti dropping from the heavens! When everyone salivating and crying, hit them with the 5 dollar price hike for the arrow tool plugin it only seems right (says the guy waiting 4-5 weeks for his apple pencil) They will bitch and moan, but they will buy and like it. lol
  16. I totally agree they need to make it more apparent that they have a creative section. The whole Bob Ross thing that was displayed on the front page of the channel browser for some time and I think that was their initial nod at bringing awareness. Like you said before it is a prominently a gaming community so of course that will be most apparent because that is their user base. The gaming audience is what they built their whole business on. It obvious to me that they are looking at their user base interest and are looking to expand their reach. I don't think they trying to replace a youtube or Vimeo that does not fit their audience culture as you already know, but I think they're looking at the things that their community is interested in and they are trying creating a place where the synergy of community interaction can happen in a way that makes them feel connected. In the long run, that connection with their audience is worth more than the content. Youtube, Vimeo, etc have their place as an on-demand content repository, for the most part,(because youtube does have live streaming now) but the key to longevity is through the connections made by the teachers, students and the community as a whole. As for my comment about being locked into one platform I apologize I did mean to imply that it was a bad choice in any way I was just mentioning all the other platforms that are supported because I have friends who have done the apple tv thing and were turned off because of its lack of flexibility outside of the apple ecosystem. These people are looking at these alternatives that connect their TVs to the content they want without having to be apart that whole apple thing where they felt like they could only do what apple's requirements allowed. Now with that being said, this may not be a consideration for you right now since AD and AP are apple platform only and to draw the attention of users who do not own an apple computer may come with its own headaches but if you do expand it may be something to consider in the future. Just food for thought really. I just was sharing my perspective. Anyway, great job on all the great content you guys have provided thus far. I don't have an apple tv box, but I can access all your other content from my other devices (Chromecast, Roku, M3 android box) anyway. Thanks for your time and the chat Andy. Cheers!
  17. Nothing Adobe does is free lol. Someone going pay and at the moment it is all of us caught in the subscription matrix lol. I want out, I am working with too many big commercial clients that get too nervous to add anything outside of adobe in their workflow, but when I am not forced to use Adobe I use Affinity ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYL28a0LM_A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYL28a0LM_A
  18. Hello, Andrew. Yes, you are correct Twitch is a predominantly a gaming community. This is how Twitch.tv had started, but they are expanding their reach into other creative areas. They have a music channel and a creative channel. Many of the creative streamers are artists, designers, painters, sculptors and, etc. The talent ranges from the known to the not so well known but highly skilled. Many of the Artist who develop a strong following get contacted by Adobe to stream a 1- 2 hours. I don't think anyone gets paid for that, but I think really in the community it more beneficial to the streamer as well as adobe to align with each other from a branding perspective. It a smart approach from Adobe perspective because it increases its brand awareness and image at the same time. It cost nothing to stream. I also DJ and I have my own channel and stream every Tuesday and 12 EST (-5GMT) live on Twitch. Apple tv is fine but, I think Twitch is a fabulous addition and in some cases a better alternative because it not locked into one specific platform. Twitch can be accessed, by a multitude of android tv boxes, Roku, firesticks, Chromecast, computers and mobile devices.Twitch also has an IOS app and a Android App. Another big plus is the fact that there is a high amount of live community interaction through the chat functionality found in the browser and mobile interfaces. So, your not just talking at your viewers you are actually interacting and answering their questions in real time if you also choose or leave them to talk amongst themselves So, Yes Twitch is it a big gaming community but think about who playing and who is making games. To further address how Twitch is trying to expand their artist community and aligned themselves with Adobe as a launch partner to expand their reach in the creative artist arena. here a recent link to a write up about a campaign they launched a few weeks ago. http://www.engadget.com/2015/10/29/bob-ross-twitch/ Here is Adobe's Channel You find Terry white on there, but you also find popular Twitch Streamers streaming under Adobe Brand. Adobe literally can do nothing as long as the streamers show up at their designated stream time. Here is a direct link to the Twitch TV Creative Section Honestly, I don't watch as much tv anymore I just pull this up on my tv and watch other creatives and occasionally join in the chat. -R
  19. I would have preferred a channel like adobe has on http://www.twitch.tv. Free and accessible via all the non Apple Tv specific devices. That is a huge market space that untapped by many and has huge potential.
