  1. Thanks Kevin! yes I have been busy. It looks you have been pretty busy yourself. In my hand I hold the holy grail A.K.A the Affinity Designer Workbooks. You have some beautiful work in there my friend! Congrats!
  2. I am excited to share with you the official announcement of my new Affinity Designer course on Lynda.com. It been out for a couple of weeks now and just getting around to sharing with those of you who might of missed it. Much of the course was based on the features found in Affinity 1.4, but I think their a good amount of tips and techniques in this short 1hr and 18 minute course. I made this course for the designer/developer who need to get up to speed on UX/UI specific tools and features fast. Anyway, check it out and again thank you all for your continued interest and support! CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE COURSE Course Description Learn how to incorporate Affinity Designer's features into your own design process. Here Ronnie McBride shows how to set up your preferences, use artboards, create custom color themes in the Swatches panel, apply styles and gradients, and create wire-frames, mock-ups, UI assets, and hero graphics—all with Affinity Designer's versatile tool set. Once you find out what you can do with Affinity Designer, you may never go back to expensive design software again. Topics include:Setting up your preferences and interface Creating new documents Using artboards Creating a wire-frame or mock-up Creating UI assets Exporting for prototyping ` Check out my other titles in my signature below.
  3. I received my book today! I got say it been awhile since I bought a physical book. I use to buy tons of books on many different topics, but i found the tech books are obsolete as fast as they print them and they take up space so I now get all my books through my tablet. This book is gorgeous and the fact that it is full color and a hard cover book really makes it worth having. I looking forward to digging into it and picking up a few tricks I may have missed myself. And wow got this book within 5 days in the US! I expected delivery to take much longer! I think I ordered it on Wednesday or Tuesday and it got here Saturday but I didn't know it was here til I checked my mailbox today. Great job Affinity team and contributors!
  4. What? do you live across the street from the shipping office? lol
  5. Great! Gonna order mine up now! Just the fact that it hard bound full color book makes it worth the penny! Be nice to have the first book created for this amazing application on my shelf! Thanks guys!
  6. I love it! For some reason my brain wants the image to be in focus where the missing grass is. Love the mood in this image.
  7. W What? A vector image that had the same issue? Now that is odd something really odd! I never ran into an issue like this I hate defeat! Well let me know when you revisit it!
  8. Awww, I hate that word "give up" are you sure. Jimmy file worked fine. What is the issue now? Is it to low res. cant you use another globe image Hell, you could build that image of the globe all in vector right in Affinity Designer!
  9. Hmm, interesting I removed that uk layer even rasterized the mask and globe too and I still ended up with that with box around the exported .eps. so bizarre.
  10. You could use motion to animate screens. but maybe you should consider a tool that was meant for that purpose and gives you the ability to also have some interactivity which would get you closer to the feel of the real thing. Maybe something like http://principleformac.com/ I sure there a pc equivalent out there too I just dont know offthe top of my head.
  11. Hello, Sunshine! ("Yah I just wanted to say that") lol Anyway, I looked at your file and it looking like it might be an export bug. You might want to post this to the bug section of the forum. Yah, I know it is not the answer you want to hear. Here is all the testing I did with your file. 1. I erased the black line that was framing your planet just because to me it like like it should not have been there and could be the problem. 2. I did an export to .eps and saw the white box you speak of. 3 I separated the globe from the image in a different document then saved that document then I tried embedding that document and reexporting. I got the same result 4. Then I tried exporting the globe as a png and then place that png in the file and export. When I exported the file I got the same result as prior. I tried masking the globe and re-exporting and got the same result. So, my conclusion is the .eps export works for documents that do not contain and raster information (no pixel data) Now Affinity can export raster, but it does not export raster images with transparency information into a .eps format without re-rasterizing the image and after it does that any transparency information is changed to white. I suspect when it rasterizes your already rasterized image with a mask it will use a compression format like Jpeg to do it and as we know jpg do not retain any transparency data and will slap on a white around any image that has transparency. Now let us talk about your situation and how we can get around it. 1. What your final use and output for your image? 2. Do you have use eps? If not just export your graphic as a high-resolution PNG. If this for a logo I would create a globe completely from vectors so that there aka" pixel based data" in your file. Which is better if you need to scale it up larger for a sign or other large format in the future. Be warned though you can only scale a pixel based image so far before it starts to look bad and just because you have it in a vector file does not mean it has the same attributes of a vector image. You will only be able to stretch it so far before the quality degrades and if you started with a low res image it will not have much space to be able to scale it up and look good. Now if you absolutely must have a vector format you might want to consider using the .svg format or the .pdf format. These two formats will give you the result you want and expect. Upon further testing, I find that .eps export is the only vector based format that gives you this issue, therefore leading me to believe it is a bug so use .svg or .png as your export of choice depending on the final output required. Did that answer your question?
  12. You are welcome. Thanks you for the kind words! I am glad they been helpful to you.
  13. Do you mind sharing the file, so I can see how you have set up your document?
