It would be great to have a color wheel similar to this:

I'd even be happy if we could have TWO color pallets viewable in the workspace, One being sliders and the other being a wheel.

I would LOVE an option similar to something like this:

These would give a great amount of control with color that would make color selection with painting a lot smoother.

    Changes:

    1. Red being at the top (0 degrees)
    2. Color schemes: Complimentary, Triadic, split complimentary, etc.
    3. Tint - 100% tint is always represented as the color, where in painting if you've tinted your colors you're ADDING white, so the slider is reversed from the default.
    4. Blending - foreground and background colors go on either end of the slider.
    5. Color temperature (lock) & Tone (lock)- these are lifted from Anastasy's Magic Picker, they're really powerful features

I hope this was somewhat intelligible and that others might find these requests useful for their process.

Thank you very much for taking our requests seriously and listening to the community, you guys and gals rock!

When drawing with a tablet, I would like to have:

    Brushes list - names
Show brush names permanently inside the preview area instead of the rollover tooltip.

Pencil or vector brush tool - close curve
An option to auto close the curve when coming back to the first node - snapping to the first node.

This topic must have been brought up many times, because many of us AP Desktop users want this rather simple addition: Add visible names to Brushes. Yes, we know one can hover the brushes to get the note name. But what if the one you want is 12 down from a list of 20? Not many of us enjoy hovering 12 times before finding the brush we want. And that's after we've separated the brushes into categories.
Can we have the feature soon?

Yes on that. I do sometimes drag the end point to snap in, but then the shape deforms.

    Hey Affinity people!

First of all, Designer looks very nice. It could be my main program in the future. but it lacks here and there and this is what i would like to see.

For me, as an illustrator in vector... i work with the pencil tool A LOT!. the pentool is okey, free drawing on my tablet / cintiq is 'tha best" So pencil power!

Okey, i have tried this workflow and this is what is what happens for me when i do character vector work:

    Affinity Designer:
    - I draw my desired line with the pencil tool.
    - The tool doesn't know that i want to do a correction. If i draw on top of the line it creates a new vector. I need to delete the whole line and do it again also when its just a small part that needs an fix.
    - Press N to switch to pentool so node icons appear on top
    - press close icon and the object is now closed.
    - press N to switch to pencil tool
    - create new line.

    Adobe Illustrator:
    - I draw my desired line with the pencil tool
    - draw directly on top of the line to correct it. It will re-shape my previous action. Most of the time its just a minor fix.
    - simply hit the line somewhere, it will close.

U see how powerful the pencil tool is in Illustrator vs the long and lack of workflow in Designer. In illustrator i stay in my tool an continue working non-stop where in Designer i need to switch tools and use icons.

    I hope this helpfull!

Maria reacted to cocoazenith in Affinity Designer - Pencil tool: closing paths? continue path?
    Hi,

I've searched the forum but it seems that these features have yet to be implemented.
So here I am asking whether they are possible and I am just missing something:

I'm talking about the Pencil Tool in Affinity Designer.

    1. Is it possible to automatically close a path after you have drawn a...circle...let's say? So basically I'm asking AD to snap to closing the path for the Pencil tool.

    2. When I use the pencil tool and stop drawing with my tablet there's a problem resuming the shape that i've already created. You just simply cannot continue the path.

    Cheers!

    Hi Cocoazenith,

    Welcome to the Forums :)

It isn't possible to automatically close your paths or continue drawing them with the Pencil tool I'm afraid. However I will move this thread to the Feature Requests section as I think these suggestions would make great additions to the apps :)

    Hi Maria,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
This change was intentional. The border was removed in the latest Beta version because some users found it distractive. Since then, a few users also noted it may be useful in certain workflows so this is being reconsidered again.

This is the 1.6 beta thread there will be no 1.5.6. Maria is saying she would like to see the 1.6 behaviour the same as 1.5.5

Having this line is very useful for bleeded documents.

I mean that if I turn off the "Clip to Canvas" view mode - in Affinity Designer 1.5 there is a canvas area border and in the beta version this border is gone (or it appears just for one second).

    Thank you, Chris!

A list view or a breadcrumb trail would be great. I really love Affinity Designer and it would be great to have something like this in the future.

Until then I will create my own categories of favourite brushes to find them quicker.
