Organic texture Brushes Pack 1 Version 2.0

I have been working on updating the original texture brush packs so that it complies with more recent uploads

The original 11 brush packs(.zip) files have been removed and replaced with a single file containing all the original brush packs so that they are stil accessible
Added a new set now containing 12 brush packs (120 brushes) also in a single file for download.

Made significant changes to the original brushes
    a. simplified the nozzles by removing the intense pattern overlays and added 28 new additional png files to increase pattern variation.
    b. Reduced the initial size of the some of the original brushes.
    c. Adjusted the brush dynamics to allow for use of flow and accumulation in the general brush tab
    d. Where possible reduced the reliance on random size variation in brush dynamics
    d. Added sample 4 page PDF for download
    e. Removed original sample images (11) and replaced with just 4

    enjoy!

Congrats! Desperately waiting for brain-deads to carry those childish "system wars" into this forum.
Believe me, tiago1801, up to now we got along fine without sandbox quarreling.

I don't think we can assume that the developers who are working on the Affinity on Windows UI would have been able to make an effective contribution to either the core programming of Affinity Publisher or the UI programming for the Mac in a different programming language.

Any new info about when final version of Designer and beta of Photo for Windows are going to come out?

Will you need beta testers out in the field?

I am starting a side/personal project that is a magazine. And I am hoping to start building it with Publisher -- rather than using my work computer and InDesign. Don't get me wrong. I love InDesign. I just can't afford to pay such a steep price and have it as a subscription. I am glad to see Affinity is providing a straight product purchase model.

So, I am really looking forward to Publisher. Keep up the great work. Thanks.

Besli reacted to anon1 in Does Affinity Photo have the equivalent of Photoshop's Maximum & Minimum filters?
    From the Affinity Photo Help:

    Maximum Blur
The Maximum Blur filter broadens highlight regions in the image, and shrinks darker areas. It works by comparing each pixel to its neighbor and replaces darker pixels with lighter pixels. This is most useful for modifying masks.
// and there is an option to have it (non) circular

    Minimum Blur
The Minimum Blur filter shrinks highlight regions in the image, and broadens darker areas. It works by comparing each pixel to its neighbor and replaces lighter pixels with darker pixels. This is most useful for modifying masks.

// Maximum and Minimum blur are one of those filter that are not live filters though, which means they´re destructive

    Blur Filters:
Use blur filters to apply creative blurring effects to your photo.
    Available filters include:
Average—applies a uniform colour averaged across your image. Bilateral Blur—blurs while retaining high contrast. Box Blur—blurs based on a boxed region. Custom Blur—applies your own blur using a customizable pixel matrix. // maybe this is also something for your interest? ;) Depth Of Field Blur—applies elliptical or Tilt-shift blur gradients. Diffuse Glow—blurs with a soft glow effect. Field Blur—adds focal points to a blurred image. Gaussian Blur—a smoothing blur for noise reduction. Lens Blur— simulates blurring from wide aperture lens usage. Maximum Blur—broadens highlights, reduce shadows. Median Blur—blurs while affecting colour regions. Minimum Blur—shrinks highlights, increase shadows. Motion Blur—blurs to simulate directional movement. Radial Blur—gives a circular blur at a chosen position. Zoom Blur—blurs to simulate zooming-in motion effect.
    hope this helps :)

I'm looking for filters in AP that serve the same function as Photoshop's Maximum and Minimum filters. (Photoshop:: Filter : Other : Maximum, e.g.) One way I use these filters is to refine selection masks by expanding the black or white area of the mask. This also works to thin or thicken lines in line art. I see that AP has Minimum Blur and Maximum Blur, but those are not the same thing. Does anyone know what I mean, and where to look for it if it exists in AP? Or perhaps whether it's an upcoming feature?

Photo, but the technique is perfectly doable in Designer too: classic direct painting.

Yeah! It was the idea  :)

For this illustration I crafted these tools I want to share with you (click the picture).

It's a small selection of 5 brushes for blocking large areas with an oil painting look.
    They are very crazy random.

Besli reacted to retrograde in NEW Affinity Designer tutorial (Cowboy Dog character beer label)
Hi all, a recent tutorial I did for Envatotutsplus on Affinity Designer is out.

It's a step by step from start to finish type of tutorial of my basic workflow developing a fun Canine Cowboy character to a cartoony semi-realistic finish. It's an intermediate level tutorial so some knowledge of Designer is required. :-)

    Check it out at:

I can feel your frustration but please stick along for a little longer.
Judging by the quality of the Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer, Affinity Publisher should be worth waiting for.
    Hang on in there mate.

A few days back I was using Affinity Designer (Windows), designing a logo and modifying a pre-existing font to suit my needs when it hit me. I wanted to design my own font/fonts!

I searched the web to find a program that might be good for this, but all the programs on the market didn't look too amazing. The interfaces looked clumsy, unappealing and even though I am sure that they are good, I felt as if they were limited and always needed a separate program to complement them for their lack in one area or another. In most of the videos and tutorials I watched, people tended to use Adobe Illustrator to make the letters and then import the paths into the font editor.

So I thought to myself; "What if Affinity Designer would have a font editor built into it, or a stand-alone software that would have the amazing interface of Affinity Designer and its ease of use?".

So my suggestion is, that it would be AMAZING to have/buy an extension for Affinity Designer to be able to edit and export fonts! I do know that it is not "just" programming an extension/add-on of that sort to Affinity, but I can't imagine it being too difficult either. I mean you have all the tools that are needed for the job and the extra "specific" tools for font editing could perhaps fit under a new persona in the upper left? A font persona. That would make Affinity even more of a killer software!

It would be nice if you guys considered adding this. I mean I really like Affinity Designer and I will most likely buy it on release, but I would also love to buy a font editor from you since I know that you would make it easy and fun to work with!

Designer, and other Affinity apps, will become a killer software when they start to draw automatically what is in our mind. We will have to wait until version 2.0!

Besli reacted to MEB in Is there any ETA for gradient mesh?
    Hello revo,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
As said earlier the Mesh Fill tool is on our roadmap, but there's no ETA for it specifically. The roadmap lists all improvements/features that will be implemented during the 1.x versions and as such cover a large period of time. Some features will come sooner than others depending on how development goes but there's no specific eta for any of the items there. Rest assured the Mesh Fill tool will come at some point as a free update to version1.x.
