    Hi folks!
It's time to update this thing...
The same set, suitable for cartoonists, character designers and comic artists.

    Now it is composed of:

    4 layout tools
1 standard pencil and 3 layout pencils embedding typical colors like blue, red and green (you don't need to choose it from color picker).
Now with tilt for shading effect!

    8 Inkers
G pens, trapezoid shaped and Sumi-e variants!
All these tools are sensitive to pen pressure and tilt.
    Hope you'll enjoy it!
    Grab it here!

PS. The old one is still here

    Hey guys,

Just bought Affinity Photo and since there's no Opacity + Flow pressure sensitivity options, I've pulled a rabbit out of a hat and starting off with some tips from this thread I've made some brushes and thought of sharing them with the nice people on these forums. The last in the list I think are especially useful for paiting. Hope you'll like them.

    Hi!

I made a simple template for my everyday web-design needs, which i'm glad to share. It contains five pseudo-artboards which are Desktop, Tablet Landscape 1024, Tablet Portrait 768, Mobile Landscape 480, Mobile Portrait 320. They all have semi-transparent grid over them so you can start quick.

I think templates like this are good to emulate artboards untill we have real artboards in AD and are just nice way to start your design projects.

Will be glad to know what you think of this template, any suggestions are welcome. Feel free to modify it in any way possible.

    Hi all

I have released a Boostrap 4 Grid Template for Affinity Designer. It includes columns, gutters as well as guides and some more stuff. This should hopefully help when setting up a new Bootstrap 4 project in Designer.

I hope you find this useful, let me know if anything is missing.

I've been using 'APh' for Affinity Photo for as long as I can remember, partly because I knew that Affinity Publisher was in the works but probably more because my initials are AP! I tend to shorten the Affinity Publisher name to 'APub', but I confess that I may be somewhat influenced by 'APu' sounding like a character from The Simpsons.

As @R C-R has observed, some use 'AF' for Affinity Photo, but (a) its name is Photo, not Foto, and (b) 'AF' may sometimes be too easily misunderstood to refer to autofocus.

In this short tutorial I'll show you how to draw simple polygon spirals in Affinity Designer 1.6.0.
We will use the rotation origin, transformation panel and the duplicate function.

Enjoy the video and have fun to draw your own polygon spirals. It's simple but interesting!

Hello again. Sorry to post in this topic again, but I changed idea.

    My current logo was

But I after testing it in some webpage mockup, I realized that it was a bit weird on a webpage. The logo was fine, but the circle was mostly annoying because of being too tiny to really see it well on favicon or webpage. Also, I decided to re-think my website entirely to focus more on what I love instead of what other people want me to do. My website was a portfolio website, but since I didn't do much project to add in there, it was a bit dead. I don't have a lot of "spectacular" photography, but I'm thinking about adding some nice one and a blog features when travelling. That was also a reason to change logo since my older one doesn't fit as a watermark...
Here is what I thought could be nice. I just too the N from my name instead of ND and added a kind of camera lens. Colors are like that because I like travelling and it's a mix of forest, sea, sky, freedom, etc.

What are your thought about that?

Currently I'm student, but doing lot of things like Web, design, videos, 3D, etc.

    I made more :

The last two logos I was testing some cool gradient colors too. My final version will certainly be white or black on the website, but in color for the favicon (same color as website).

Whatever, personally and I don't know about you, but number 3 and 4 look like a face and I appreciate the bigger N in number 6. It take more space and you can figure that a D is appearing with the curve of the N. What do you think?
I love number 2 too, but since the circle is not complete, I'm scare it will not look good on a website.
Number 7 I was just trying this plain background. I saw a lot of people portfolio with just a letter inside a square or circle as logo. Currently mine is an empty circle, but people are using filled shape.

Thank you again and thank you to the people making logos for me ;)

My inspiration first came from this guy : http://michaelacevedo.com/I love that is M is integrated into some mountains. I was trying to look at something "natural" like this for my logo, but a "N" is harder because a part is missing hahaha. My logo is not just about ND, but can be N alone too.

    My other inspiration :

I've a first question. When i had use CS6 i used often the oil painting filter to give a "Van Gogh" sensation to my photo.
    There's something for Affinity?

Greed is the problem. Young innovative greators start falling behind the technology and become conservative money grabbers now only interested in conserving executive compensation. It is a pattern that is repeated consistently. It is often accompanied by  arrogance in the form of "we know better than you" and even assuming that we the great unwashed cannot have such lofty thoughts as they. Multiply that by 10x if nepotism is involved

Jeff Bezos of Amazon was looking for ways to avoid the  eventual corporate decay. I wonder if he can find a way to avoid it? It will most probably require the entire senior staff stepping aside and letting the next generation run with it

you can try the clarity filter or/and the unsharp mask filter.
instead of applying the filters on the whole image data, you could first apply the frequency separation filter, balancing the radius so that the high frequency layer holds most of the detail information but non or almost none colour information. this avoids to apply the sharpening filters also to the colour information and possibly raise up some chrominance noise.
from this point on, you select the haigh frequency layer and apply the sharpening filters only to this layer. you can, for example:

    1) simply duplicate the high frequency layer (possibly setting the opacity of the duplicate to less than 100%, if the sharpening looks harsh or shows unnatural halos)
    2) apply the unsharp mask filter (live or destructive) to the high frequency layer
    3) apply the clarity filter (live or destructive) to the high frequency layer

    hope this helps

    Hi @It123,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
Which operative system are you running? On Windows all of them work as John pointed out (except ReMask), on the Mac however there's still some issues with a few of them. Check this page for details on which plugins are supported (click the plugins's name for additional info).

    Hi tonyt

Sorry about that I will Paste the entire post below.

    Hi,

I'd just like to take a few minutes to explain how PS 64bit "8BFM" plugins work in Affinity Photo, and maybe answer a few commonly asked questions in the process. Here goes..

1.) Set up the "Plugin Search Folders" list in Preferences - this just means "tell Photo where the .plugin files are". You can add as many folders as you like, but usually, if you currently own Photoshop, you should be pointing it to "/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS6/Plug-ins" (or similar, depending on your PS version and install location).

2.) The next part is more complicated. Photo is a Sandboxed application. This is the necessary for us to be able to ship on the App Store. A Sandboxed app is restricted - it can only look at files which the user tells it it is allowed to look at. Many plugins require more files than the .plugin itself to operate - but because of the Sandbox restriction, most plugins panic when they load because they cannot access files which they need to operate.. so..

You have two options here - you could figure out which folders are required for your plugin to work - they usually install their things in /Applications, or /Library/Application Support - but if they are trial versions, then they could need to access other folders, and all bets are off.. so..

There is an easier way to set up plugin support folders. You can make Photo behave like a non-Sandboxed app by telling it that it is able to access any file it wants - just like Photoshop etc.

If you want to do this, the recipe is:

a.) Affinity Photo -> Preferences -> Photoshop Plugins.
b.) Plugin Support Folders -> Add Folder.
c.) Shift+Cmd+G to bring up "Go to the folder" text input.
d.) Type "/" (in other words, root, everything). Press "Ok" a few times.
e.) Photo should show just "/" in the plugin support list.
    f.) Restart Photo.

Eventually, we will establish exactly which folders each plugin needs, and put that information into the topics in the "Plugin Support" forum here - but until that point, adding the "/" support folder will allow you to "see what we see" when testing plugins.

    Hope this helps,

    Andy.
