NBG reacted to MEB in Can someone explain why I get these thin lines?
    Hi jmac,
Regarding antialiasing, vector objects are defined mathematically but they still have to be rendered on a pixel screen. While vertical and horizontal edges can be aligned with the pixel grid to minimise the effect, diagonal or curved shapes pose a problem because you will get a stepped effect when you try to represent them using pixels (see screenshot - i've zoomed in to make the pixel grid easily visible). Antialiasing helps to smooth those steps adding semi-transparent pixels to help objects blend, however this also lets the background colours from other objects bleed through their edges (see attached screenshot - bottom right image).

Illustrator also have similar issues - see screenshot below - less or more visible depending the type of preview you are using: CPU preview gives better results than GPU preview - you can switch between them pressing ⌘ (cmd) + E). In the example below i created two objects - a rectangle and an ellipse - and performed a Divide operation, then placed a black rectangle below so you can see the issue more clearly.

You may also see hair thin lines which are related with the way Affinity renders the objects on screen/zoom level (different issue). If you check pixel aligned objects at 100%, 200% 400% and so on (x2), those hairlines will never appear. With arbitrary zoom levels this becomes a rendering issue (when the edges of two objects overlap). However in this case the file exports correctly, the lines only appear on screen. MattP is the most suited person to give you an explanation about why this happens and what can be done.

No. We wanna use it NOW! For browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) WHO support it.
We don't want to way until Apple wakes up and don't BLOCKS WebP anymore...

Upvoting this. In order for our websites to pass Google's performance guidelines, we have to use WEBP images in our websites. I have a WEBP batch converter but it sucks and takes additional steps.

Mask the T-Shirt layer with that fill color layer, drag the fill layer below and slightly right of the T-Shirt so that it get's a child layer of the T-Shirt layer.

Open a photo of a plain white T-shirt and add a Fill layer with the colour that you want. Set the blend mode of the new layer to ‘Multiply’ so that the white areas of the T-shirt become coloured but the greyscale pattern of the wrinkles remains visible. Add the logo art on top.

@NBG What about adding a gradient to the added objects.

Another way to add a gradient.

NBG reacted to cekuhnen in Is there a vector erase tool in Affinity Designer?
Just noticed as well that the vector erase tool is missing. I am stunned at two things.

    1. How fast and modern the Affinity products work. This is really refreshing and great.

    2. How many basic tools are missing yet more advanced things were included. This is really frustrating.

When I bought the package I was not even thinking about looking for an erase tool because I assumed
that it is simply a common core to have.

    Hi NBG,
Not automatically but you can press and hold ⌥ (option/alt) and drag them manually to change their order.

If you want to keep the texture for later re-use you can add it to the Assets panel. Select it, open the Assets panel (menu View ▸ Studio ▸ Assets), create a new category (if necessary) clicking on the small menu icon on the top right of the Assets panel and selecting Create New Category.... Then with the texture object select click the small menu icon on the top right of the category you just created and select Add from selection.

To use it, drag it from the Assets panel to whatever document you need.

    Hi NBG,
If you drag the SVG file to the canvas it will be placed as an embedded document (as you can see from the label between parenthesis after the layer's name in the Layers panel) which cannot be "merged" through a boolean operation with the letters because you don't have direct access to the contents of the embedded file (in this case the texture).

First you need to convert  all the texture elements into a single object:
    - go to menu File ▸ Open and select the svg file
    - select all objects inside the layer101 (or drag a marquee slection around the canvas to select them all)
    - go to menu Layer ▸ Geometry ▸ Add
You have flattened the texture elements into a single object
    - open the letters document
    - copy the single texture object you just created from the svg document (menu Edit ▸ Copy) and place it over the letters (its layer must be above the text layer in the Layers panel) - adjust the texture scale and position to get the effect you want
    - now select both the texture object and the letters and go to menu Layer ▸ Geometry ▸ Subtract

You should end up with just a single object - the letters with the texture removed/cut out from them - all vector.

A vector texture (whether created from scratch or imported) consists entirely of vector shapes with solid or gradient fills. When you 'convert to curves' an image, you get a rectangle with a bitmap fill.

We show the thickness of a line as points so for a 0.7 mm line you will need to make sure that your line thickness in Affinity is at least 1.98 points

You could use a stroke for the text and then add an outline effect. See attached doc.

Try the following. It's a bit of a hassle without having an Offset for contours or outlines.

The text in the attached file is still live text.

NBG got a reaction from DawsonSa in Warped logo in the style of the brand Everlast
    Hi,

i would like to create a logo like the well-known one from "Everlast":

I tried with an eclipse and text to path:

As you can see it doesn't look like the original and i'm not sure if it's even possivle to recreate the in this way.

Maybe create TWO eclipes, overlay them, do an invert or something? Do i really just need a shape like the Everlast-logo? Or does the "text to path" only apply on the bottom line of a shape and not also on top?

    Thanks!
