Ic3man got a reaction from stokerg in Monster Swag
I'm a member of a Music Production/DJ group called Ultimate Rejects (UR). This piece was made using vectors and alot of stroke work with customized pressure graphs.
The hand to the left is making the letter 'U' symbol in sign language and the hand on the right is making the letter 'R'. The hands were difficult too draw by memory as I'm not a natural artist so i drew it on paper first and imported a snapshot into the project.
The image on the cap is our logo.
Paying for artwork for our albums and singles became costly so I purchased AD & AP in Oct. 2016 so I def consider myself one of the 'day ones' lol.

Hi Ic3man and welcome back to the forums.

You've nailed this one! To quote CartoonMike Doesn't having a good solid sketch to work from just makes vectorising a lot easier?

There have been a couple of threads recently relating to luminosity masks and the limited flexibility available in AP.  In one of those threads csp proposed blending options as a better way to do this which set me thinking about how that could work.  I have produced a quick, simple video that explains a way to generate a very flexible luminosity mask using blend options.  I hope some of you may find it useful.

Thanks to csp for the original idea.

Ic3man reacted to MEB in saving a gradient
    H wtrgrl16,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
I'm not sure what you are doing but you can save the gradient in the swatches palette for easy access. Check this video (no audio). I've created a new document palette, renamed it to "My palette" then added the gradient to it. Finally i selected another petal (which did have a lower layer opacity), applied the saved gradient to it and adjusted it's position/angle with the Fill Tool.

Note: you have Edit All Layers button disabled in your document. I don't know if this was intended or by accident but it's the reason you cannot click on the petals on the canvas to select them. If you enable it (it's the bottom left button on the Layers panel) you can then select the petals on canvas simply by clicking on them.

Let me know if you still have trouble.

Affinity products don't need to be Adobe copycats to be successful Mr. Peene.biber. They are doing just fine without very few inquiries of 3D effects as you would like to see. Can't imagine any professionals use illustrators 3D features as pro effects, sure they are good to mimic another true 3D engines capabilities but they will never compare to the real apps. Besides throwing in boatloads of resources and time to an "effect" is purely a waste of time and money. They are on their way. And just because Adobe has something doesn't mean it is needed to be considered professional software.
