  1. Mark Ingram, Thanks for posting your message. I could not find it before that is why I asked again. Since Windows 7 is still supported until January 14 2020 I was hoping for another solution. Enabling the theme Aero washes out my preferences and prevents certain programs from running that I have on my system. The Theme is a preference that is why I was asking. So thanks for your link to your response I could not find previously. I'm going to see if following this link will help: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/127411-desktop-composition-enable-disable.html Thanks.
  2. Please make sure that Aero is NOT needed when the final product comes out. Having to force users to use this Theme is ridiculous especially since I use other software that uses hardware acceleration just fine without Aero theme on. I have brought up this subject before under Affinity Designer. In my opinion, needing Aero theme for hardware acceleration is poor programming. I am using Windows 7 Pro x64 with two other programs that use hardware acceleration and they do not require the Aero Theme to be activated and on. (Xilisoft & Sony Vegas Pro)
  3. Please make sure that Aero is NOT needed in the Final Build of this software. This choice should be for end-users not programmers. If Aero is needed, I will not go with this software and I will wait to see what Serif's PS Killer will need. Vegas Pro uses Hardware acceleration but does NOT require Aero to be turned on. I think having this requirement is rubbish in my opinion as well.
  4. Please make sure that Aero will NOT be needed in the final release as this should be a choice of the end-user not the programmers. If Aero is needed to be "on" then I do not want to use this program. I'll wait until you come out with the PS killer to see if that requires Aero.
  5. Mark, Are you sure about that? As I previously stated I did not use or enable Aero and the first Beta release worked fine. The screenshot shows this and it does not say that the BETA will not work if I have Aero disabled. Having Aero enabled is a waste of system resources in my opinion. So, I have temporarily enabled Aero, started the Affinity Beta and after 3 min it started. I then minimized the Affinity Beta and changed to my default non Aero theme. Please tell me why Aero needs to be On in this revision of the Beta? Affinity seems to be working fine with Aero turned off. Like the message says: Windows Aero is not enabled. This will cause rendering problems and slow performance. Please select an Aero desktop theme for best results. It does not say anything about having Aero on in order to run the Beta.
  6. Correct, .NET Framework 4.6.2 was installed as part of the Beta install. I have rebooted twice. After receiving the notification about Aero not being enabled and I click OK, the Logo disappears and Affinity is no longer running. Like I indicated previously, v1.5.0.2 ran fine but no longer works because the beta ended. I installed this new version 1.5.0.21 and I cannot even get this to run properly. Please note, I am NOT on Windows 10, but Windows 7 x64 edition.
  7. Affinity v1.5.0.21 crashing and will not start on a Windows 7 x64 8 GB RAM system. The previous beta v1.5.0.2 installed and ran fine. I installed v1.5.0.21 today, installed Netframework v4.6.1 and rebooted. When Affinity first starts, it gives me a message about Aero is not enabled and will cause rendering problems and slow performance. I had this same message under v1.5.0.2 but the Beta ran fine. This new version 1.5.0.21 will not even open up. I have the latest AMD Radeon HD drivers as of last week.
