Hi I was just reading the Martyw thread above...and had an issue with the screen keyboard yesterday!... Overall the brushes are working fine for me but when I activated Windows Ink... everytime I tried to edit the brush dynamics (input fields) post Windows Ink activation the screen keyboard would just popup.. I was not sure whether it was Windows or Designer...So...I managed to destroy it with 'Services' after trying combinations of typing/keyboard/wacom settings Noticed that it occurred when you selected in the input field but after the text...If you clicked on just the text and edited it with the Wacom Pen the keyboard did not appear! I had the situation where Windows Ink =active but Windows options (typing + Keyboard) were all off...but still the screen keyboard kept displaying Ultimately I resorted to Disabling the options under services in Windows..that fixed it!...by murdering a windows services function...

Hi Many thanks for the updates...thought I would see if this was occurring with the latest version.. and was not sure whether to add this as a new bug to latest release...but as there is no new beta yet..... and its already reported here... I just tested this one with the latest released version today...unfortunately the issue is still present... It is definitely the opacity slider on the fill option of the appearance panel that is causing AD to hang NB.This time I tried it with adjustments to the fill not the stroke..and when you reboot AD the appearance panel is no longer on the screen.. Process is logged in the file... Changed the title of the thread Stroke and appearance.zip

Text Box colour changes To add colour to a stroke you can also. 1. Select a text box 2. Select Fill (G) 3. Change the settings on the context bar. There are 2 Dropdowns that will let you switch between Frame | Stroke and Frame | Text For Margins=insets Editing Margins/indent options are located on the Text Frame Panel Menu | View > Studio > Text Frame > and on the Text Frame Panel under 'General' use the 'insets' to adjust position of margins/edges (and link them if you want to set the same value!)

I can see why you are pleased with it! Excellent work -
Thanks!..much appreciated..it is a lot of work but fun...! Totally agree with you blend to edge effect (Gaussian blur) for brush strokes. I read with interest your posting in resources recently. But for me it depended on what exactly is the purpose of the brushes. Most of the brush elements are vector including the seamless patterns. This has evolved over time as when I first started the library most of the brushes created were 'raster based'. To get the blended edge I 'erased'/ smoothed back with another texture brush set some some opacity value...This is still true for the 'Grunge Brush/splatter sets' I have used a similar technique for 'vector' based brushes by grouping and applying transparency to grouped objects (Horizontally an vertically). You can see this with the Brush set for 'Poison' and those for 'Ammonite'. For the Inkbrush set/s as the tools were built for inking (black and white) [raster and vector] I simplified the brush dynamics to exclude accumulation and flow jitter and applied high %age of hardness.(reduced blur)..For this set of pattern brushes and Camouflage I brushes it is not the case. Currently experimenting with the greyscale equivalents for the 'coloured' style patterns/base textures which have been produced in conjunction with this...to amplify the organic texture...sort of getting better results by importing coloured versions with higher contrast/colour divergence Look forward to you posting your techniques...always something to learn! Added sample brushes below... Camouflage Organic Brush Special 2.zip

Camouflage Pattern Styles Added 25 new Styles based on Camouflage II 1. Again! import files are larger with 800 x 800px and 400dpi (.png) to avoid blurring on scale Sample Sheet as below: Camouflage-II-Pattern-Styles-02.zip

Hi, Thanks for the latest Beta..The new Document Panel is fantastic! When testing the Expand stoke with multiple strokes (appearance panel)...I am getting a crash (locks up and needs Task Manager Closure!) I was struggling to reproduce it at first as I thought it was a consequence of adding a 'vector' brush to the mix...but its not!..Its the opacity slider applied to a vector brush then expand or try to! So with a bit of experimentation....just playing around with the options and mixing Styles + Multiple Strokes + vector brush applied to stroke to test extended feature of expand stroke Reproduce 1. Create object.. 2. Add Fill (I have used a pattern Style (as in resources)) (toggled)..and removed for testing (works really well so far!) 3. Add Vector Brush to Stoke 4. Change opacity with slider on the dropdown menu in appearance panel 5. App locks up Tests 1. Add Stroke (change opacity)..Expand [works!] 2. Add Stroke without opacity change [works!] 3. Add vector Brush to stroke and change opacity then try to expand stroke... [fails!] NB Works without the opacity change Attached a couple of simple files to play with Expand stroke and brush.zip

affinity designer Brush Experiment:Plant Sketch
StuartRc replied to StuartRc's topic in Share your work
Yep Sure..It was this one here:Plant Largely because it reminded me of the Camouflage II 'lily' plant which I am trying to extend with some new leaves... ...I am always up for sketches....😀 The Organic Pattern Brush set...what else could the brushes for camouflage be! Still working on this one There are 4 sets complete which I keep adding to the Camouflage II thread..I have base texture patterns for about 6 sets at the moment... That will match Camouflage I...but also have a sample set in resources: here which is a mixed set including 'bark grunge' which is similar to organic pattern The idea about layering patterns (which are vector before exporting) works reasonably well...I am writing this up at the moment..but it is pretty straightforward... As an experiment I took 1 single base texture pattern (in 4 layers) and varied the visibility | transparency | density and created 30 experimental brushes.. They are in resources here: Experimental Organic Patterns. Set 4 incorporates some of these in the set.. This is also the base for the new style set at higher res... There are a lot of brushes...it's been an evolutionary process...and really still learning..I only have one one large group persistently installed (inkBrush vector and raster) + vector texture brushes..Obviously Organic Pattern is installed while I am working on it... I am working on another larger brush set inkPainter consisting of 7 brush groups (30 brushes each ).. It;' no where near finished..but using it for the latest drawing...Initially based on InkBrush for inktober 2017 but are much larger and have diverged the nozzles a lot....+ Pattern Base textures are creeping in Basically I was finding larger drawings needed larger brushes! Hope that helps! -

Funny!😀 Thanks Patrick...Oddly, it was the new image you added recently that gave me the inspiration to have a go...The plant itself is from simple sketch from the next Camouflage drawing (500x1500mm)..but it's raster not vector at the moment....Just wanted to see what you could achieve with the brushes just by painting..they work! I will upload the sketch... -
