  1. Good excellent...its fun!..but can be annoying with weird issues! I come across them all the time... I would avoid trying to add large images that you cannot really control and instead use a simple repeating pattern.
  2. I use an 'intensity brush' for all my raster brushes....but have not used the sub brush in this case..it works once you get the hang of the pattern. It's the direction that is a bit awkward...Had the same problem with isometric brushes a while ago.. I am extending the brush set to include 400dpi/848px square for the base pattern + 2 /4 /6 /8 /10 line width...nearly finished!..should improve the quality!
  3. Hi I have had a play with the pattern concept and created a few samples Took me a while to get the slice to work correctly! and get how to get a working tessellation into a square...but here we go... Pattern 01.zip
  4. OK! What size is the output image for the png? Looks to be 100% for Scaling of texture..is that correct....? 1024 px +size of the mesh=very small even at 100%..going to have a play!
  5. Hi, I believe that the issue is the size of the actual image that you are trying to make the 'pattern'/ brush from. When you open it each area (rectangle is incredibly small). To get this kind of pattern you just need to create a valid tessellation in a rectangle... Create a rectangle inside a symbol and build a simpler pattern in the rectangle Then use that as the repeat. This is how you can test whether the pattern repeats correctly. I have never created a brush with an image this size...Most of my pattern brushes are only 200x200px square rectangles. For higher resolution I have created some at 400 x 400px output with a 800x800 px build (300 dpi)...but you could use 400dpi for quality... The rectangles in the pattern are very small! Try creating something much simpler...
  6. Thank you! The oldest set..but still one of my favourites!.... Even though they have been surpassed by later editions... If you liked these then have a look at some later versions which make use of the updated 1.7/1.8 brush engine Project Brushes 1. Project Brush Grunge Set 9 2. Project Brush Set 11 Assets: Camouflage and Mixed Texture Paint) 3. Project Brush Set 14 Organic Patterns (Organic Pattern Brush Set 01)
  7. Thanks Patrick....it was based on a blueberries!...after making a giant Blueberry Muffin!
  8. Hi These assets just styles that can be added to the style panel to help you apply preset design settings to objects and speed up work flow. This set was created as I found it a quick way to apply tints/colours to vector elements without searching through the swatches to find the appropriate colour. They are arranged on the sheet to include a single colour and an equivalent highlight and shadow as a tint. To install: just unpack the .zip file and drag {name .afstyles file into AD window area OR install from dropdown menu on right of Styles Panel The thread is getting quite old now and there have been a lot of enhancements to AD tools and functions.. Styles can be used in conjunctions with the 'newish' Appearance Panel/Stroke settings/swatches panel/Fill (bitmaps & images) options. If you wanted to experiment with more complex options there are many style freebies in resources...Also the way I opt to work with them has changed considerably. If you want experiment with the options on how to use them...The later versions of Style Pattern Experiments can be found here... in Resources. There is also a explanation sheet here But also some of the links below will help you!...There are many others! Tutorials There are a lot of tutorials available that will help you understand Styles and where to apply/use them 1. Installing assets...There is a comprehensive guide to installing all assets here 2. Effects and Adjustments AD Affinity Tutorial and others and Multiple Strokes and Fills 3. Patterns: Affinity Spotlight article or Seamless Patterns or Frankentoons Guide to Seamless Patterns
  9. I would not consider it irrelevant on existing single pixel layers 'Rasterise' is there for several reasons..some of which are extremely useful. Partly depends on what tools you are using and whether you want to maintain non-destructive layers or 'finalise' them using rasterise layer/rasterise to mask options. It could be a combination of: A. Option to Rasterise embedded files B. Rasterise Grouped vector layers and combined vector/pixel elements (one of the fantastic advantages of AD over competitor applications) C. Rasterise sketches created with the 'vector brushes' (+grouped and combined with vector) D. Rasterise Vector elements so you can go-digital with painting/pixel persona E. Apply Mask to vector/pixel elements and in effect create a single pixel layer F. Painting Vector or raster brushes onto existing images G. Technically flatten non destructive erase... I am sure there are more...I use all the time when painting with vector brushes or pixel brushes that need combining into single pixel images.
  10. Excellent will look forward to the coloured versions...Escher was/is one of my favourite artists....
  11. See what you mean (AD 1.8.4.647)....looked at it a bit more...Using same test file (attached it this time!) 1. It worked for me when I just used pressure.. 2. Changed/toggled to Velocity/Automatic/None.. and it redraws not sculpt... Sorry should have been a bit more efficient.... ....Still it is logged..thanks for looking at it! sculpt.afdesign
  12. I missed this one...thanks for getting back to me...the detailed explanation and the fix...
  13. Hi Sean The delay is not an issue..thanks for getting back to me...I created a .mkv file showing the effect in the latest live version (1.8.3) which I have uploaded for reference below: In the latest beta the issue is resolved.....hopefully! NB:The issue with appearance panel opacity slider locking up the app is also resolved!...couldn't say in original thread as it is closed sculpt_test_1_8_3.mkv
  14. Updated Resource List 1.Finalised Project Brush:Ink Painter and updated links 2. Added new brush set inkPainter:Sketcher to Resources (to complement the Pencil Brushes)
  15. Ink Sketch Brush Set Added Created to supplement the Pencil brushes. (Project Brush 13:inkPainter - Sketch). These are the originals created for inking In Resources with Project Set: Textured Pencils
  16. Added a new set of brushes for inking from the new Project Brush Set: InkPainter
  17. InkPainter:Texture and Grunge Brushes Texture shader and Grunge sets to finish the inkPainter Brush Group Texture Grunge
  18. Nice!...like it...she has those eyes again..I may need to look away!
  19. Yeah! Just looking into it....I am wondering if Windows is getting shirty about not backing up sys files...I just swapped out the external drive and let it do a file backup..to see if it stops occurring...that will take me some time! I might switch off the auto backup to external drive after...just to stop it hassling me I had a look at the report but its not very helpful to me...! except it tells me AD is not talking to windows! Events Log was suggesting Security and Maintenance 'The program Designer.exe version 1.8.3.641 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel. Process ID: 2890 Start Time: 01d617cd64608804 Termination Time: 4294967295 Application Path: C:\Program Files\Affinity\Affinity Designer\Designer.exe' I think I was doing a similar thing..I am just working on a brush set hence the vector nozzles getting copied between files....I mentioned on another thread somewhere on the forum that having lots of files open and copying/pasting can slow down the AP...to a point where I just have to restart...it takes some time to occur but does follow the same process over time...I also was wondering whether this is to do with having vector brush panel(Persona) open on some files and the raster brush panel (Persona) on others...but it is difficult to determine!...I am probably dealing with a lot of nodes/vectors When I did get to close the app through Task Manager The File usage was quite large! There isn't a crash report in folder..just to make sure (I just turned the backup off!) Have not tried getting a dump file...from Task Manager..I will try that if it happens again..but it is infrequent ...
  20. Hi I have added the WER report in .zip file from the latest event. Something about Affinity Designer Stopped interacting with Windows!...Don't blame it! At the time I had about 6 files open and copying a compound vector between files!. App just stopped working..had force closure... It is not a very common event but only seems to occur in the latest version! WER report_latest.zip
  21. Argh!..oddly just now! I have another file from event log I can send you....
