Had a look at making some today.. watched the Corel Video tutorial They appear to be more of an effect brush than actual painting brush...or just brush nozzles constructed from 'smoke like' or ink stamps, The Procreate ones are really impressive!
So to create something like as a basic brush you would need to make use of the sub-brush to punch out the master brush shape but making it slightly smaller to create a semi transparent edge (with or without texture).. Then you can adjust the blending settings and Brush Dynamics for further effects. With a semi-transparent nozzle
Variations in the Flow dynamics in the master Brush and Sub-brush adds additional effects
Try Overlay | Average | Multiply | Hue or even contrast negate

Many Thanks to you, these are wonderful !
Any Idea how to make alcohol ink effect brushes?
Hi
Thanks! Alcohol Ink Brushes...Interesting!...Short answer ...Bit of a challenge!
but...
You can with a mix of semi-transparent nozzles | sub-brushes and textures.. -

This is a bit of a find: https://kmalexander.com/free-stuff/fantasy-map-brushes/
You can never have enough brushes 😊
It is
..over 400 stamp brushes in the Homann: A Free 18th Century Cartography Brush Set for Fantasy Maps alone

Hi
You could try these brushes and | or Texture Pencil and Ink
The texture pencils as their name implied already have a textured appearanceOptions
1. The brush does look like it is being influenced by the base texture (remove it and see what you get)
2. Would not recommend having the spacing set to 1%. It is better to have a larger value; something like 6-10% as a minimum
3. Part of the issue with 2 is that the Nozzle has not enough 'ink' i.e the dots are too small to link effectively
4. You can achieve a grunge edge simply by adding a small amount of variation jitter to the y value in dynamics (same applied to X but use this the force the brush to be more random)
5. If you do download the ink brushes:
Make a copy (duplicate in dynamics!) of 'Damaged Inker'
Delete Nozzles 2 and 3
Remove all values from dynamicsThis will give you a base brush to work with which you will have a parallel effect (texture with base texture or sub-brush) 'Rhyolite' would be good for this effect
You can add grunge with sub brushes If you drag in another brush set the opacity | flow to low (somewhere around 40%) it will give you the grunge effect but remember to adjust the size of the sub-brush to fit the master brush
Hope this helps

Outstanding work on all these StuartRc! As always, i am in awe of your talents and your generosity in sharing with us. I have my Stuart folders set up and will include these ASAP. I am so appreciative!
Thank you!
It is still WIP...I have few more Toolkits to complete yet (There is 1 more tree in the set + | Meadow | Rocks | Plants) I may built a toolkit specific to the drawing...still a bit of work to do on this one!

Here is an example for what I mean, of an experiment with a copper engraving look. It is inspired by an artist (can't remember his name at the moment) who made a print graphic that consisted of only one stroke, starting as a spiral from one eye in a portrait of Jesus Christ in that case. I chose a more profane motif from Pexels for this experiment. I created the spiral pattern in Inkscape (it has a spiral tool), refined it in Photo and applied it to the image in Photo also. Still not perfect, but a good start, I think.
Nice!..looks like a lot of work to manually create something like this..Reminded me of this resource here

Hi StuartRc,
Thank you so much. I will download them and take a look. I love hearing about the creative process that creative people go through to get their finished product.
Do you know of the plant creating software 'PlantFactory' by e-on software? It's truly amazing. Unfortunately, they went the way of Adobe and forced users to rent their software...

I Hadn't. There are a few for Blender that are impressive.. along a similar theme...now that you can import .SVG to Grease Pencil. recreating the trees in Blender is something that I should consider...unfortunately I haven't finished the toolkits yet.. 2 more to go! and the moss!

I love the artwork of Gustave Doré. Arthur Rackham too... and I like Richard Corben's work. I love Giger. I had the book he reased when "Alien' came out with lots of his artwork in. Magical! Do you know the comic books featuring the character RanXerox. Fabulous artwork by Tanino Liberatore. Exciting, but gory.. He looked like Bruce Willis...🙂 'Barbarella' artist Jean-Claude Forrest too...
I will check these out.. Ah Alien! there was certainly some atmosphere there!

It is sometimes a weird thing with comparisons people make. In my early Heavy Metal comic days, I was mostly impressed by the comics of Richard Corben. Not because of his pornographic tendencies. I liked the very movie-like narrative style, the partly very sculptural painting style and the atmosphere. But retrospectively I must say that only a lesser part of his work had the quality I admired him for. However, at that time many people said that my paintings reminded them to Richard Corben. Even people who didn't know that I was a fan of him. That was a thing I wasn't aware of. The same as I explored Giger. Even looking at my ink drawings many people associated them with Giger. I still can't see that, but it must somehow be true. But of course not in the quality.
My main idol in inking is Gustave Doré. He was a genius anyway, in many ways. But his mastership in creating atmosphere, lights and shadows and depth of space in his illustrations - only with black strokes on white paper - impressed me so much that I try to emulate it since I first saw them decades ago. With analogue nibs and also digital.
Concerning the first drawing: it's okay. Don't worry about it. It is a good image anyway. But this perspective thing with the zombies is a detail that catches the eye and causes irritation. Could of course also been interpreted as intended.
Hi
Painting Style and atmosphere is something I need to work on...Gustave Doré has certainly captured it. I had a look though some of the artists (its only about 100) I was following on Artstation..here are a few (Longque Chen, Caanan White, Torben Weit, Yann Le Guen, (Yuumei) Wenqing Yan, Brian J Murphy, James Daly, Tonton Revolver, Jenny Brozek, Vincent Bryant, Jenny Brewer, Vincent Chu, Emilie Vaccarini-Francis)
Atmosphere and depth. especially working with vectors can be difficult to achieve. Using greys helps with a combination of gradient mapping. Block colour overlays and mixing blending modes. but not always successful.

Very nice artwork!
It reminds me to the days I discovered the Heavy Metal comics (in germany published as "Schwermetall"; initially, in France, published as "Metal Hurlant"). Moebius, Druillet, Caza... Stuff like that. Great times - loved it! And even later, my explorations in the Myst-Universe (It's a shame that I can't get those divine games to run under Windows 10 - really miss them, especially "Uru"). And of course it also reminds me to the old YES-covers, created by Roger Dean, and Rodney Mathews' genius work.
But however, Hens is right: the right Zombie in the first picture should be much smaller (or the left one bigger), because of the perspective. That is irritating.
Many Thanks!
Oddly I keep looking at older comic publications to explore their inking techniques.. Comparisons with Moebius have been mentioned before. When I used to work on these type of drawings 'traditionally' I was obsessed with Giger and Escher but I can understand the comparisons! With regard to the first drawing.. and Hens comment about perspective... I can understand the issue raised but the whole drawing is not in any calculated perspective and it was just an initial idea for a challenge on Artstation. I didn't really want to revisit such a small change when it would have been replaced by the other Biome paintings in the future.. The Buildings have already been replaced!. I was intending to replace it! when I draw some Mountains!

Hey StuartRc,
I love the work you've posted. Your attention to detail is incredible, and your colour palette is fascinating too. Just by your colour palette alone you have created a 'mood' in each of the worlds you have posted. I especially like the 'Mushroom Forest Biome'.
You'll be up their with the great concept painters (if you're not already working in that industry already) - Shaddy Safadi, Noah Bradley, Ryan Church, Jordan Grimmer, Darek Zabrocki, Natasha Tan, Rico Cilliers and the others because I can see your dedication. It's something that has fascinated me for a long time, creating worlds from your imagination. You can get so immersed in the creative process that hours go by...
Keep creating. Great work!

Hi Thank you for your comments..
The drawings are really just an extension of what I used to do with ink on Bristol Board. They have evolved the techniques lot over the past few years and AD is ideal for what I wanted to achieve. I think I have the brush sets are now where I need them. The inkers, Texture Painters and Concept sets in particular are getting a lot of use!. There is still a lot to do on this project.. not completed the Biome area paintings yet. still it will keep me occupied!. I have been a bit distracted with the creation of the vector elements for the Tree Toolkits.. (So I could complete the stand of trees drawing) I should have left them until I created the Biomes; which were really for another project that I could not possibly complete. There is also a lot of work to do!.. The Mushroom Biome is also one of my favourites!.. I have been looking forward to creating the vectors for it.. started work but not really beyond outlines. I am sure some will find there way into resources in the future!
If you are interested in creating concept worlds.. Artstation made all tutorials free (not sure whether you have to have an account though!). There are so many excellent concept artists out there!.. I have a few favourites myself...but I think I have a long way to go to be comparable!
Check out Luca Pisanu on artstation..worked on Croods 2
I rely a lot on natural textures of which there is an unlimited resource.. It will take me a long time to run out of ideas!
With regards to the Colours I will add some of the Palettes...They are not very organised!...but useful. I keep generating new ones from the drawing as it evolves; then adding graduations. Some can be a bit repetitive..Bu here you go...a small selection
