  1. Currently if click+drag or CMD+click+drag on top of objects, it will initiate a duplicate operation. This is also the case if ALT+clicking+dragging, similar to illustrator. Would be awesome if CMD+click+drag on top of objects would initiate a selection marquee instead. This way one isn't required anymore to initiate the marquee outside any object boundaries.
  2. Is it possible to add an option to set it to open directly using px and 72dpi? This would be very convenient since I have a ton of .AI documents that'll be converting to .afdesign...
  3. How to open .ai doc using px units in AD in px units? Currently, if a .AI document that uses px as units and 72dpi is opened in AD, AD will open it with points as units, the right document size in points, but a higher dpi (e.g. 300 instead of 72). The main problem is that if I set the document to use PX as units, it'll multiply the document size by dpi, resulting in huge document. How to open right away using PX and with correct size in PX?
  4. CMD-Click on window title bar (one doc open) or document tab title (>1 doc open) to reveal menu with path to document on disk. Just like other Mac apps.
  5. Since one of the more recent beta versions, AD started to add an invisible black stroke to new objects. In the following screenshot, you can see a new object selected. Looking at the swatches panel + stroke color in contextual toolbar, it seems like it has a a black stroke. However, there's no stroke assigned as you can see in the contextual toolbar as well. I don't remember seeing this in earlier versions of AD. If it's a feature, I find this, i.e. the ability to have set an invisible stroke + no stroke style property, a bit confusing. Perhaps the stroke style dropdown should be hidden when the stroke color is set to none and "none" should not be an option in the stroke style. Thus, removing the stroke from an object would only be made via the stroke color property (either via studio or contextual toolbar).
  6. Terribly sorry for not including those details beforehand. AD v1.1.2.23562 Mac OS 10.10.2 Using 1680x1050 + 2560x1440 displays via Nvidia Geforce 650 GT 1GB Doesn't seem to affect Separated Mode.
  7. Bug: Toggling UI sometimes makes canvas disappear. Steps to reproduce: 1) Press the Tab key repeatedly to toggle the UI on/off 2) After a pressing the Tab key a few times, the canvas disappears (exact amount of time can vary from ~5 to >15).
  8. I've been using AD quite a lot lately and I got to say that, for this specific operation, it's just unnecessarily awkward having to first select the object(s) in order to be able to initiate node selection. Direct node selection would be a huge time saver!
  9. I used to have this wish for having native illustration, photogrpahy, 3D, video editing apps, games, etc. for Linux. There's many Linux frontend toolkits, but none of them can match Mac OS's. The future for AD or any other app associated with plans to extend cross-platform support will be to run in the browser or a browser wrapper. That way OS platforms don't matter any more. Web technologies already allow for that to be a reality and will make it even more appealing in the near future. When that happens with AD, you'll be able to use in Linux, or BSD, or whatever other OS platform you care about.
  10. In Mac OS: [command + `] is for switching WINDOWS in the same app [ctrl + tab] is for switching TABS in the same app, which means that the AD implementation is correct If you go into AD's separated mode, you'll see that [command + `] works there for switching between document windows.
  11. specworkfan, can you provide an actual example on how you use snapshots? I never used that feature. I don't use Photoshop, but I use Illustrator, which obviously doesn't have that. So I'm wondering what would be the practical benefit.
  12. That's not generally better, it's possibly better as an alternative for those users in possession of a 2-button mouse, which is not the case if you're using the regular Apple Mouse or any of the Apple trackpads.
  13. Currently, in order to duplicate an object by dragging and dropping, an AD user first needs to select that object, then ALT/option+drag. Would be great if I could start duplicating immediately with ALT/option+drag without having to first select the object. For those that do this a lot (like me :) ) it would be a huge time saver and keeper of the flow of things.
  14. Hokusai, I haven't tried the history palette - I tend to avoid switching tabs inside the studio panels - still it's a good workaround while while waiting for things to improve in the edit menu. Thanks for the tip!
  15. Having selection actions included in undo/redo steps doesn't seem useful to me, often requiring many more presses on the undo/redo keyboard shortcut or visits to the edit menu (hello RSI). Would be great to have an option to disable inclusion of (de)selection actions in undo/redo steps or simply ignore de(selection) actions.
  16. Currently the Undo/Redo commands in AD's edit menu are only labeled with "Undo" or "Redo", regardless of the action each can undo or redo, respectively. It would be hugely helpful to add the name of the action to be undone or redone. This would be especially critical when a user wants to undo or redo an action that affected a very small detail that cannot be perceived visually when quickly undoing or redoing many steps in succession.
  17. AD currently requires using the CMD key as a modifier while dragging bounding box handles for 2-way resizing. How about switching from CMD to the ALT/option key for this operation? This is how it works in Illustrator, Apple productivity apps (Pages, Keynote), even Mac OS uses this modifier key for 2-way resizing of windows (since 10.7).
  18. I'm happy that it seemed to have nothing to do with AD - I was starting to wonder how would I find out the steps to reproduce the mysterious issue!
  19. This would be really useful - surely there's tons of Illustrator users coming to AD.
  20. Is there any way to hide the info/contextual help bar shown at the bottom of the AD window? Doesn't seem to add any interesting value for users that are already experienced with AD and could give back some extra screen real estate. Unless you're planning to add some useful new features there... ;-)
  21. OK, false alarm - somehow dragging and dropping + copy/pasting stopped working with other apps as well, including Finder. Restarting solved the issue.
  22. I'm able to re-order layers with Move to front/forward/back/backward commands (and respective keyboard shortcuts), but not with drag&drop in layers panel.
  23. Hi there, Today I downloaded the latest beta (v1.1.2.23003). After a few hours of using this version, copy/pasting stopped working and I'm also unable to re-order layers in the layers panel. I'm wondering if I accidentally triggered some option or if it's a bug. Help?
  24. Happy to know it's planned, 'cause at this point, I can't see anything else preventing me from switching from Illustrator to AD!
