Since a recent update I have to first select an artboard in order to select an object in it unless I was already working on the desired artboard. It used to be possible to just directly select objects in any artboard without having to click the artboard first. Or perhaps I changed a setting, but I can't see what would that be. Help?

Make snapping available for artboards

Yep, that exception relates precisely to the improvement I originally requested. -
[AD] Align with key object / aligning nodes
sergio replied to nonresidentalien's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
OK, hopefully the product/dev team will take notice. Aligning to a key object is essential when you can't afford to guess which object will be picked as a key object. Even a minimal version of this that makes the first or last selected object the key object would already be a big step forward.- 45 replies

Make snapping available for artboards
sergio replied to sergio's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
Cool, good to know there's a workaround. I still think it would be great to make artboard resize snapping possible when using the artboard tool. I would never figure out having "Lock Children"solves this on my own. -
I often resize artboards to match new variations in content, e.g. adjust artboard height after creating a design version which is bigger or more compact. Would be great if it was possible to quickly adjust the size of the artboard to perfectly match the content.

Based on the discussion in https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/15194-how-to-hide-the-bottom-bar-with-shortcuts-and-other-tips/ Would be great to have the option to hide the bottom bar to maximize screen real estate on small displays.

Just to be clear, there's a workaround for this - export document to SVG with all layers visible and manually hide those that need to hidden in the SVG markup. But that quickly becomes a pain when you're iterating through multiple prototypes.
-
bump! This would be a great improvement to include in the UI design-centric 1.5.0 release ;-)

Currently if you export an AD document with hidden layers to SVG, the hidden layers won't be included in the exported SVG. It would be extremely beneficial to have hidden layers included in the export with an attribute style="display: none"; for use in interactive applications.

Currently, if I copy-paste between artboards, the objected pasted on another artboard is centered on the artboard, instead of getting the same coordinates it has(s) in the artboard it came from. This is inconsistent with the copy-paste behavior within the same artboard, so it would be nice nice if paste in place worked across artboards as well.
-
Currently it's only possible to see which artboard is active in the layers panel. It would be great if the currently active artboard would also be highlighted in the canvas. This would minimize reliance in having to use UI panels when e.g. assessing which artboard is the target for pasting.

iPad Pro Version of Affinity Designer

Wow, can't wait for being able to use AD on the iPad!!! -
Currently there's no way to hide the bottom bar with shortcuts/tips, which takes up valuable vertical real estate for expert users that already are familiar with shortcuts/are not interested in shortcuts. Since it's possible to literally hide every other UI group individually, except this one which is relatively least useful, it doesn't make sense to not have an option to hide it.

Allow toggling duplicate while dragging
sergio replied to sergio's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
It doesn't matter if you use CMD or ALT. If I don't press and hold one of those modifier keys beforehand, it won't allow for duplicating. -
Enable smart guides while duplicating

Hi MEB, The ⌘ (cmd) modifier key alternative is perfect, thanks!
