  1. For the sanity of all mankind that might not occur very often. :P
  2. I was finally able to get that backing done. Just ordered two copies of your wee little game. :) now i need to practice my bahoochie shaking/dance. ;P
  3. Haha, of course I overlooked the juvenile status of the creature. :D btw: I'd backed your game if this freakin kickstarter form would let me enter a proper credit card number. *rant* I hope I can get that problem solved in time with the support from kickstarter.
  4. Ohh, there it is the famous haggis animal. But shouldn't it have the right legs longer than the left ones, so it has an easier time standing on the steep hills of the highlands. (that's what I heard, at least ;P) jokes aside: I love your art style. Looks crisp and funny. Reminds me a little of a former kickstarter cardgame i backed about a year ago: What the Food?! Great work, eejits!
  5. The problem here is - as bleduc already perfectly explained - is that AD has a hard time calculating the "wanted" background. In this particular case it's even worse, as it's impossible for AD to get the information behind the person and that's pretty relevant (as it is a painting/art). As you can see in my veeeeeery dirty and quick example it calculates a black area but the image hints more of a white area behind the person (but one can't even know for sure).
  6. Hi Commendante, As for digital assets dpi is irrelevant. But you can take 72dpi for the sake of it (as it is a somewhat standard now). Colourformat RGB for web uses. You can take RGB/8. Colour profile: I'd go with sRGB IEC. Hope that helps. PS: Next time I'd post this in the question section of the forum as this section is more for tutorials (in a larger sense). PPS: Welcome to the forum and the community! :)
  7. Hej Örjan, there are no stupid questions. But I'm glad you could help yourself, that's always the best help. :) Keep up the creative flow! :)
  8. Well, I think you used the right term then. :) But "seeing" that white comes on top might be a subjective thing. Mathematically he should use black as it should be easier to distinguish for - let's say - visual handicapped people.
  9. Hi Örjan, I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly. Do you mean when you export the image/clipart? (you have to be sure to export in the right filetype. PNG works fine if you wanna use it in the web) Or do you mean you have an existing vectorfile that has a background you don't wanna include? In that case you should be able to delete the unwanted background by selecting it and then hit 'delete'. Do you perhabs have an example for a clipart you want to have without background? It would be easier to help you along. :) Cheers, Jay
  10. Hey Brian, I just saw your inputs regarding readability and I have to disagree on the 'Login Button' in white. It's a close one but the contrast is higher with the black font instead of the white one you can see it here with the darkest colour (on the left) http://leaverou.github.io/contrast-ratio/#%23d64856-on-white http://leaverou.github.io/contrast-ratio/#%23d64856-on-black and here with the midground color: http://leaverou.github.io/contrast-ratio/#%23e15d51-on-white http://leaverou.github.io/contrast-ratio/#%23e15d51-on-black But on a personal preference I'd also go with the white (but not from a readability point of view). ;)
  11. I'm here as well, but I usually don't have much time (aka other things that distract me :P) to hang around. :) *wavesAtDesignMeister*
  12. The problem here is the non-querty keyboard layout. As the '-key (apostroph) is on the same key as the '4'. this will bring the zoom to 800% (because ctrl+4 or cmd+4) instead of getting the grid layout in. What you wanna do @Paul-V-E: Go to edit -preferences (or if you have it on french: Édition - préférences) and then to 'Keyboard Shortcuts' (Raccourcis clavier) then in the second dropdown to 'View' (Affichage) and scroll down to 'Show Grid' (Afficher la grille) and select a different key that works for you (ctrl+!/cmd+! maybe?). I hope this helps.
  13. Even though it still feels weird to me to mix vector with bitmap, I had to get them. :) PS: Also just subscribed to your YT-channel in hopes that I see more tutorials and drawings there from you. *hint-hint* ;P
  14. Hey Enrique Thanks for sharing those textures. I just had to have it. And for the price of a beer, that was a no brainer. Looking forward to get messy with them. :P Cheers, Jay
  15. Thanks for the answer Alfred (btw, I like your hat too. I used to do this (seasonal/event-driven customization of the avatar) too in another forum once. Quite fun! :D) too ;)) I thought about this method too, but then I didn't know how to get the margin between the inner and the outer shape proportional. (so that it's equal on all sides). When I drag the handles to resize, I always get bigger 'gaps' on the left/right side than on top/bottom. Any tipps on that how you did that?
  16. (i hope this animated GIF works like this...) I just made a short clip of how you can do this very easily with AD. I prefer AD over AI on things like this tbh. Edit: One thing that wasn't so easy for me is the parallel white line inside the shape. Is there an easy way to do this in AD? I know you could do it somewhat with giving the shape a white border and then add an outline effect but I don't like the rounded corners on that.
  17. That looks fantastic Frankentoon. I love the style! Are these textures vectorbased?
  18. Looks lovely, Mithferion. Very well done! Me gusta. :)
  19. I see. So I wasn't completely off. Thanks MEB for the super fast feedback. Edit: I have to add that I'm looking forward to that (future) update.
  20. Hi everyone, I got a question regarding the embedding of files (images, designer-files, etc.). Do I miss something or is it intended that you can't edit the original file but instead editing like an instance of the original instead? I have the following scenario: Graphic artist A: He makes the layout and the design of an ad. (filename: ad.afdesign) Graphic artist B: He takes the ad designed by artist A and uses them in a brochure. (filename: brochure.afdesign) Artist B embeds the ad.afdesign in his file with the 'place image tool'. Artist A makes a change in the file ad.afdesign. Now it would be nice if the ad embedded in the brochure would update, but that's not the case, right? Anything I'm missing here?
