    Go back and reread what I wrote, which you quoted.

    Yes, it is in both the Arrange menu and the Document menu, but they are two different commands which do two different things.

    If the Arrange menu items would be placed on the toolbar, this would match what Designer and Publisher do, but it is unlikely to match the expectations of users coming from other photo software.

    If the Document menu items would be placed on the toolbar, this would create an inconsistency with Designer and Publisher.

    I believe this has a very strong likelihood of introducing confusion for users and I suspect it is likely quite intentional that these buttons are not available on the toolbar in Photo.

    Wow, calm down your arrogance dude.

    Go back and reread what I wrote, which actually seems you didn't.

    I'm not talking about the Document > Flip. That's for flipping the whole document/canvas. So that's irrelevant.

    If you check my original image, I'm showing the Customized Toolbar. There's no Flip icon so I can "customize" my toolbar and add the Flip Horizontal/Vertical icon in my toolbar, and that's why this thread is called "Missing Feature".

    It doesn't matter if there is an "inconsistency" between programs, the Customized Toolbar is there for a reason: So people can add their favorite icons there.

    Flipping something, whether is pixel or a vector or not, is a logical, basic, expected feature in any program. And it's missing from the Affinity Photo Customize ToolBar window.

    You didn't really contributed here. You just wanted to act like a know-it-all but you lack reading and comprehension skills.

    Now get all triggered and get off on me, as is the trend nowadays. I'm waiting...

    If you hover your cursor over any post you will see a "Report Post" option appear in the top-right of that post.

    You can use that "button" to report the post if you find it offensive or if it contravenes forum guidelines.

    But If the post simply disagrees with your opinion on a particular matter it's probably best just to ignore it as that happens frequently on just about every forum I visit.

    Thank you. It's not disagreements. I can respect other people opinions. It's just the attitudes. There are some arrogant trolls here, making rude and narcissistic remarks, that I would like to hide or block and not seeing their face. I can't believe a basic forum feature is missing...

    Edit: I should rename the title of this thread as "Block Forum User For Good".

    There are two different sets of "Flip Horizontal" and "Flip Vertical" commands in Affinity Photo:

    • The ones in the Document menu flip the entire document
    • The ones in the Arrange menu flip a selected layer/object

    The toolbar icons in the Designer and Publisher apps correspond to the commands which are in the Arrange menu on Photo - they flip a selected layer.

    I suspect @angelhdz12 is requesting toolbar icons corresponding to the commands in the Document menu.  If this is the case, they would be different commands from the ones offered on the toolbar of Designer and Publisher.  It is possible that Serif may have left these out intentionally to avoid confusion as they would appear to be the same icons as are offered in the other apps but would behave differently?

    Someone looking at them in Photo if the behavior from Designer/Publisher is applied might expect them to flip the document but wonder why they are disabled unless something is selected (and then only flip the selected layer/object...) while someone accustomed to using the icons in Designer or Publisher might use them to try to flip a layer and be surprised when the entire document gets flipped (if the other behavior is used)...

    The Flip Horizontal/Vertical command is present in Affinity Photo already, in the arrange menu, so it makes not sense not having the icon in the toolbar.

  4. I also vote for Javascript or Python. TypeScript is gaining terrain. NodeJS added TypeScript, Vue added Typescript. VSCode extensions are made with TypeScript. Ionic for mobile/desktop/web apps is using TypeScript.

    I would love to have a statically typed language to control Affinity programs:

    let circle:Shape = document.selection[0] as Shape;

    for(let object:any in document.selection) {
      console.log( object );
    }

    But I agree with michalmph's about Python "having huge amount of libraries for most tasks".

    But I read a comment here with a really nice idea. Regarding of the chosen language, building like a server, where we can send HTTP request (or connect to it via sockets/workers?), so we can use any language we want.

    I would then, use the Dart client. Like the Discord Client API that there's a port in so many languages.

    What does it imply about users' view of Serif that users think it is necessary to describe what a Preferences dialog should or could do and how it should or could look?

    Should we not be able to assume that Serif's program designers are already extremely familiar with a wide variety of interfaces implemented long ago by their competitors in photo applications and other complex software?

    Alas, Mark's post above indicates that providing a useful Preferences dialog is a low priority. As in many aspects of APhoto, it is something they'd like to do someday. Then again, perhaps it is already being worked on, but, as we are often told, not even user support personnel are allowed to know the specifics of development plans and timing.

    We are the customers. We are the consumers of the product. We dictate what we want, or we move to other alternatives. Don't like your attitude of taking away people rights to haven an opinion on something, and even more when they are paying for it.

  6. I tried to find the appropriate forum for this question, but couldn't find anything.

    I want to report a forum user, who is very rude, arrogant, toxic, and he even makes fun of the topics we create by using laughing reactions. Also, he makes these kind of sarcastic questions implying as we were dumb and showing off as if he was a know-it-all. Also, he questions the features we request, as if because he don't need those features, nobody else needs them.

    We don't need people like this here.

    Thanks.

    Just pointing out that your idea of "complete" and someone else's idea of "complete" are not the same.

    You tried to sound poetic and deep but ended sounding very arrogant and selfish.

    People who feel that they are already "complete" with the existing Affinity programs can't prevent other people of feeling incomplete, and needing other ones. Who are you to dictate what's completeness means for everybody in the world?

    I'm not sure we need another of these: https://www.customshow.com/best-powerpoint-alternatives-presentation-programs/

    At the bottom we can read:

    EDIT: And I would add that when I need to do a presentation, I usually create a PDF that can be easily opened everywhere, and don't need to read doc to remember how to do this effect or this one. But I certainly miss some important features that pro creating presentations use all the time :)

    Tell that to Jetbrains. They have an IDE for every top programming language. They don't say "We're not sure we need another of these". And if they don't make an IDE for "x" language, it's because another existing IDE already supports that language.

    Affinity needs Presentation and Animation solftware and it will be complete. Or they can merge those to and giving us a Presentation & Animation software with 2 personas: Presentation, Animation.
