  1. Got it to work, all!!! THANK you for all the great help! I saved it as a help document WITH all your tips and instructions, also, so I can come back to it.
  2. Thank you! I'm saving all of this. I DID get it to work!!! Whew! Learning is quite a process for my little pea brain! LOL THANK you for all the tips!
  3. I want to fill this with the "Twas the Night Before Christmas" poem. I have saved it in .svg, .png (what I posted here), and .afphoto. Not sure which file I should use. I tried Komatös' suggestion, but couldn't figure out what he meant. Here is the image I want to fill.
  4. Thanks! I'll give that a shot! Beautiful Lab, BTW!!! I used to show Labs, and miss that.
  5. So, I have to draw around the image, using the pen tool, then create a clipping mask? Oh, boy. My hand is too shaky for that. I was hoping I could just "cut it out", then fill it in. It's a solid shape, not shaded like your gorilla.
  6. Yes, very similar. Now what? LOL I'm not certain as to which file type to save it so I can add text in it.
  7. This may be a bit "convoluted", but... I cut out a part of an image, saved the cut out part, and turned it red. I need to save this "image" as a shape I can fill with text. I can't find a way to do that in Photo or Designer. Not even sure the file type in which I should save it. I need to keep the color (red), and fill with white text. CAN it be done in Photo or Designer? Do I make it into a tracing, then make the background of the text red, the text white, and do a mask? That isn't quite what I want to accomplish, but it would be close enough to get the gist of what I'm trying to create.
  8. I know I can use the color replacement brush tool. Been there, done that. My issue is this: I frequently work with black and white graphics. Up to this point, my workflow has been to remove white, then invert so the image is white. Then, I go to Adjustment Layer and choose Recolor. This works, except if I need to replace the color with a specific hex color. There is no option, and using the sliders isn't very helpful. Is there something I'm missing, or is there a better way? For my work, using the color replacement brush isn't very quick, so I'm not keen on that option. I guess I'm thinking it would be nice if I could just type in a hex color in the color picker.
  9. Okay, as it doesn't happen all the time, it took me a bit, but here you go. Hope this works! And, yes, I clicked Enter after editing the last margin. Screen Recording 2023-12-04 at 9.51.02 AM.mov
  10. Do you mean screen shots? I can actually do a video with Screenflow , but am not sure how to make it transfer so it can be viewed.
  11. In AP v. 2 (2.3), Mac Sonoma (14.1.2) I want to create an 8.5x11 document with transparent background, and .25 inch margins. I change all the margins, and SEE that they ARE changed, but when I click Create, the bottom margin stays at 1.25. I close it, check the margins again, and click Create, and it opens with the margins I choose. This is the third time it has happened, so I guess it's recreate-able. It used to work as it should prior to the latest update. No unusual hardware connected (just an external from which I'm working), and the Hardware Acceleration change did nothing. Not a big issue, but thought you'd like to know.
  12. After trying this so many times that I've lost count, I still cannot achieve what I'm trying to do. I'm following your video, but I still cannot get the edges to blend. What I get is the bottom layer's opacity changing, with nothing happening to the top layer. So, can anybody point me in the direction of a tutorial, perhaps with audio, so I can make this happen? I have watched it done in PS, as seen in the linked video in my original post, but that still isn't quite what I am trying to do. I want to blend edges so I don't have sharp, well defined edges.
  13. Sorry all. For some reason, I'm not getting notifications that I've gotten responses to my forum inquiries. I have "Follow Topic" turned on. Any way, YES! The issue I posted has been resolved, thanks!!!
  14. I did change them all, thank you! Gotta say, this forum is amazing! You all are so patient, friendly, and helpful!
  15. Okay, thanks, but WHICH decimal setting do I change? I've attached the image of the decimal settings. I tried changing the inch setting, but that didn't work, nor did the degrees setting.
  16. Also, has this forum changed??? I seem to recall there being specific forums for each studio.
  17. I just got a new Mac Studio, and after loading AP (and AD and Publisher), I was excited to give it a try. I've been working with AP for several years, and have pretty much been able to do what I wanted in it. In AP on my old computer, I created several custom documents, and was in the process of creating them on my new computer. BUT,,, for some reason I cannot get the documents to KEEP the margins I've typed in. This could be something I've missed in the settings(???), so please bear with me. I want a .25 inch margin all the way around a document. I am allowed to type that in, but when I hit enter, it turns to .3 in. That isn't what I want! It also turns to .3 in. when I try to change the margins after the document has been created. I hope this can be remedied. I'm really liking AP (used PS for college degree), and don't want to "have" to go back to PS and their stupid, greedy subscription.
  18. This just started BADLY today. Any time I try to merge, group, copy, etc. Now, it's hanging just because I tried to scroll expand. I have closed AP (on Mac Big Sur), shut down my computer, saved the document, etc. WHY is this happening. Things were working swimmingly yesterday.
  19. I'm using AP V.2 on Mac Big Sur. For some reason, any time, in any document, I try to type in a size (for example, changing the size of the document), when I TYPE the size I want, it does not accept the first number. For instance, if I want 8.25, when I type the 8, it doesn't show, but if I'm not paying attention and type the 8.25, it will show as (space).25. This happens if I change the brush size, sometimes the opacity, etc. It happens in any document. While not "earth-shaking" it can be annoying - working along, not paying attention, but just typing the numbers in, and all of a sudden my document is virtually invisible because AP doesn't accept the first number. I've checked for updates, etc., and I'm assured I'm updated. Anyone else having this problem?
  20. Sorry I'm late in responding. For some reason I didn't get an email notification that you did, and I've been so busy taking care of my dad... Is there sound to this video? If not, maybe I can expand it so I can see what you are clicking on. THANK YOU!!!! I really do appreciate this. I have never used gradient masking - figured I was doing something wrong when it came up all gray, and nothing I did made it transparent. Now, to practice, practice, practice!
