[Missing fonts from LaTeX]

I think I found a solution to this problem. Here it is.

 

I work with :

MacOs El Capitan 10.11.6

TeXLive 2015

Affinity Designer 1.4.2

 

We have to play at both MacOs and LaTeX side to make this work. First of all you have to install the OTF fonts corresponding to the LaTeX fonts, including math mode fonts. Here is what is to download :

General Text Fonts : https://www.ctan.org/pkg/cm-unicode

Math Fonts : http://www.gust.org.pl/projects/e-foundry/lm-math/download

 

 

Once that all the included OTF fonts are installed (with fontbook for example), you have to play the LaTeX side. Here is a sample LaTeX script (UTF-8 encoding for the text file in my case, I use TexStudio) :

Then, compile with XeLaTeX (important : standard LaTeX will not work, as well as pdfLaTeX). The LaTeX system then produces a PDF file. Unfortunately, this PDF file is not suitable for Affinity Designer (as well as for Adobe Illustrator ...) : for some obscure reasons, lots of symbols disappear, the size of the integrals do not fit, etc. The solution for me was to open the pdf file generated by LaTeX with "Preview.app" installed with MacOsX, and then export again as a PDF file. This PDF file is okay for Affinity Designer on my system.
