You’re not doing any wrong. The counters (holes) in a glyph are created by subtracting a smaller shape from a larger one, and the ‘Divide’ operation separates out the component shapes.

I’m not sure what you hoped(!) to achieve by dividing the converted text, but one way to fix the problem is simply to select the overlapping pairs of shapes and ‘Combine’ or ‘Subtract’ them.

    Works perfectly! Many thanks.

  2. Hey everyone,

Not sure of correct phraseology - so bear with me. I create a word; Hope.

    I convert to curves.

    I click to divide.

It works to divide, however, any "circled" part of the word gets filled with the fill color. Please see the example.

I've tried several different fonts with same issue - cursive is even worse as all the loops are filled as well. What am I doing wrong? thanks in advance!

If you double click the ArtBoard Layer it will fit it into the view space. The same will happen for objects on the artboards.

As far as I am aware there is no Replace text option in AD. if it is a sentence or word that is repeated you could convert it to a symbol and edit the symbol, that would reflect changes over as many Artboards as you want.

I tried double clicking the artboard but that doesn't work. :( In fact, it does nothing at all when I double click. I have version 1.6.1 Mac.

Thanks for the symbol suggestion. I will try that.

    much appreciated.

  4. Hi,

    Loving AD. Couple of q's.

1 - Is there any method to change a text phrase across multiple artboards in AD? There are 100+ pages (boards), and I don't relish the idea of doing this manually.

2 - It would be so nice to have artboards listed in the same way layers are listed in the sidebar and showing only the board you're working on the dashboard. Is that possible? So far, I've only been able to add the boards either on top of each other or dragging side-by-side. The dashboard work area gets so crowded it's confusing and I'm constantly needing to zoom. There must be a better way as the way I'm doing it is cumbersome.

    Thanks in advance!

  5. I understand the basics of using a bitmap fill and successfully used it on a couple of images.

I downloaded an .eps file from Depositphotos and opened it up in affinity designer. I tried to insert a bitmap image and it inserts ... but not inside the object. It inserts into the  strokes, and the inside of the image remains empty. The image (as it comes from DP) has no fill or stroke defined; it's a crab with a transparent center.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Just invested in the ipad pro 12.9" - motivated by Affinity (I've had the same ipad since the second generation). I even bought one for my hubby so he could enjoy learning AP with me. Yep, I was motivated!

BUT ... so disappointed in the small icons and color combo on the iPad pro user interface. Macular degeneration makes it difficult to see gray on gray or black. The colors on the Mac interface are great! Any way to adjust the UI settings to make it easier for the visually impaired?

    Thanks!

  7. It is great to hear this is being addressed for version 1.6. I purchased Affinity Designer (MAC) and have a difficult time with the visuals being so small. I downloaded a trial of the photo program and it seems even worse. I will wait for the next version before purchasing photo. Looking forward to SEEING the changes! It's tough to see small indistinguishable icons/text when you have Macular Degeneration - even with strong glasses.

Looking forward to the next upgrade for this great program!
