  1. Tried & dumped - damn quick. Just did not work - don't ask why - I do not know.
  2. Sorry, it just happened. How?Can I repeat it? Not a hope. Like I said best I keep away as my observations are themselves of little use if I cannot back them up :-( Certainly was not the transparency you suggest, as was grey overlay of part of the image already cropped. Sorry - not a lot of use.
  3. When using any of the following - dodge&burn, stamp, paint in, sharpen, oh and others. The reference selection does not work (mostly) and I cannot always reset it if it does work the first time. Cropping in develop persona causes grey areas to appear if cropped again after dev. finished. My comments are too vague for you I know. I will wait for a later 'Beta' before trying again.
  4. Rafs have always been an Achilles Heal in AP. The new 1.7 seems to have made a bit of a leap in this regard. Give the Beta a try with some old (non critical) files. It may be more to your liking.
  5. Just like to do that (occasionally surprise) Additionally - tried opening 5xRafs and was very pleased to count only 12 seconds before they appeared. Toggling between them was ALSO snappy! Sorry to only have Rafs and UI comments but I have waited a long time for this update - just - so I can continue with AP and my old kit. The thought of a another type of camera or hardware upgrade was getting me a bit down as finances would have not really supported either. Very glad that frustration has seemingly been removed and the future photograph output might actually increase and maybe even the pleasure at doing so.
  6. Have just developed Raf Raw file Opening time much improves (from external drive) approximately 4xfaster at 5seconds. After adjustments including - crop, exposure, vibrance, brightness plus about 10 other minor fiddles. Develop, again about 4/5 seconds. As a first time experience this is very encouraging. Small UI glitches - little arrows used to select strength of change (exposure, brightness etc.) are very susceptible to slight cursor alignment issues. eg. raise when I think I am on lower and visa versa. Just too small-dontknow. Font list seems not to be functioning correctly with font names and examples overlaying each other. Snapping and choice of snapping point/lines seems somehow unreliable; I do not seem to be able to allow the script box to align (snap to) the centre of an image? The Raf development quality seems very good to my eye with no cast or distortion visible. Sharpening could have a slightly longer scale with harsher results possible at the develop persona. I've printed the first image produced to customers satisfaction - so - happy bunny so far
  7. Has always been my way of keeping the cost down and the performance levels high. At the moment a 512Gb internal and 24Gb RAM hold the performance level at acceptable , 1TB usb3external SSD for in use library and 4TB of optical (2x2TB RAID) for collection. When I upgrade (if necessary) only the front end will need it as the further back in time the images fall the less likely I will need to work on them. Just a thought! What will I do with them all when the big day arrives or what will happen to my collection if I just pop off? };-(
  8. Hello Matey, thanks for quick answer. Signature now in place and Avatar to be done soon - lot older looking now ;-( Will the 1.7 iteration really sort the Raf file problem or is that supposition?
  9. As you can see in my signature my Mac Hardware is getting to 'that' age. Affinity Photo quite often responds slowly (slower than I expect it to). Upgrading my setup is a likely cure but - you know what comes next - financially challenging. Originally AP proved to run snappily enough but now goes down regularly (Raf raw files). I have enquired of this site and Serif as to the reason for this with no success. So opinions please. Will a substantial updating eg. iMac 27" maxed out be the solution or is there a mid price option that can do the job. I do know the old adage of top of the range lasts longer but nowI have reached the final upgrade point that seems a little like 'fuzzy logic'. I do not intend moving from Fuji so it is the Raf file handling that is the main ball of contention. Will Serif sort that that for me and the Fuji users or is it just more grunt needed? Confused question, I know but if it wasn't I probably would not be asking it! All responses gratefully received.
  10. Actually losing quite a bit of confidence in AP. Time taken for adjustments, text tool crashes, pixelation, just three to start with. Hmmmmm. Bit of a grumbler at the moment :-( I don't think I would be at all happy if my job depended on AP at the moment. Ram using AP, Pixelmator, and sundry others as each one fails in some way or another to be stable.
  11. Good to see this, BUT, it is not the opening that I was really concerned with. The time taken is the point. Affinity would and still does open my old Nikon & Canon Raw files in a quarter of the time it takes to open a Raf of similar proportions (Mp). Since moving to Fuji the time to edit my images has doubled. That was my point. Not the capability but the lack of rapidity
  12. eg. Open two images>select area in Image>clone to Image2>close.
  13. Would/could someone explain in plain English what is going on here. If I have AP on my Mac and AP on my iPad Pro do I need Astropad to use the iPad as a mirrored editing aid with AP running on both???Confused - as usual!
  14. Just typed in ello.co in and went straight to the site
  15. I have no idea why ;-( My wife connects from her Mac every time?? Never mind just go to ello.co Have browse from the start/welcome page.
  16. I would too - BUT - Yahoo is verboten on my Mac. By Me. Sorry.
  17. Have a look at "ello". Everything from pen&ink sketches through architecture, street, and if you must porn like stuff. World wide site and growing. Very arty, free to use, no ads (except third party) on posters pages. Jobs are getable and work can end up (if chosen) in publications all over world. https://ello.co/235tricks My pages - not a lot - but have look round. Good (dreaded word) inspiration for those who need that sort of thing
  18. Given that Fuji have released the "X-T3" with >26mP is this the time Serif to finally get their RAF handling up to the speed of the Nikon,Canon RAW files??
  19. Oversharpen for any website posting - rule of thumb. The back fungus is a bit soft but hells teeth you would need to up the ISO and have one or two f/stops to get that right (hard by hand). Other option is to focus on the back of the front subject which may(?) have dragged the back subject into the depth of field available. Like it anyway
  20. Your machine will be really overworked trying to do what you want. Laptop choice - 13/15" MBP of the last three generations with the RAM maxed. 4 core preferred. Desktop - same applies to the iMacs although 4core preferred. The Mac-mini is more capable than some would think but if you want the Retina screen not good value. PS:- as an X-T2 user I can say without doubt that Affinity does NOT handle the RAF files at all well (very slow opening and develop) so on a slow machine this will be exacerbated!
