I'm quite glad to see that they actually listen to our suggestions  Hope we can continue working together to make Affinity what she deserves to be.

@rubs @GRAFKOM @Rick G @RosomakPL @voidsea , we've reverted the change to the Layers panel font size. Thanks for your feedback.

Maybe it's a correction software-wise, which I can appreciate. But a very bad decision regarding the UI.
Sure. Main monitor 2560 x 1080 @ 96 dpi, an auxiliary one 1366 x 768 @ 96 dpi. Windows is at 100%. Here's a screenshot. If anyone pays close attention it is easy to see how many different font sizes and variants you use in the Layers panel at the same time.

The smaller ones are pretty to read here (of course we are out of context), but a pain to use everyday. Let me also remind you that on an ultrawide monitor the layer panel may be quite far away from the work area.
I don't think forcing anyone to change the whole Windows UI for just one application is a good idea.

It's about the font size only in the layer panel. All other fonts used to operate the program are correct. The previous versions of beta and 1.6 have plain fonts, you have unnecessarily changed it in version 1.7.0 251 Beta.
By changing font size to 125% in windows 10 all the fonts in the program are enlarged, also by enlarging the panels, which causes the program to get clogged on the screen.

It might be better to implement the same text-size UI preference you have for Mac. Or, lacking that, to consider that perhaps the UI should be different in this area between Mac and Windows

You are probably not taking into account that most Macs use high dpi monitors while most monitors attached to Windows machines are low dpi like grafkom's and mine. Please revert this change ASAP, or provide an option. You already have lots of problems and bugs to solve, you don't need to create new ones.

1101/5000       I am more and more upset with this small font in the layers panel. All day I worked today on leaflet and business card designs at Affinity Designer BETA 1.7.0.251 and I'm hurting my eyes from staring at these tiny subtitles. At this point, the layer names are written in the smallest font located on the entire program screen. Just a layer panel is probably the most watched place on the screen, where the eyes are often focused to see the name of the layer. Until now, I did not have to go to the screen to see what was written there.
Quite unnecessarily this font was changed by the Serif.
I am now very discouraged by this change.
I have the impression that the people who create the program do not work on this program in reality. Please, sit down at the computer running Affinity Designer and try to design something for eight hours. We'll see what will happen to your eyes.
The program is cool, I've been working on it for three years. Please, Serif, do not spoil him, listen to people who want to work professionally and want to tell you what needs to be improved.

Hmmmm... Better call it a change, I'm not sure it is an improvement over the previous versions. The font used is too small at 96 dpi (unless you are less than 40 -- not my case). The previous font is much clearer and easy to read. Ideally this should be a setting, I wouldn't mind going through zipped XML or JSON files to change display fonts. Thanks a lot for the other improvements, though.

    Hi Mark,
I'd like you to see the screenshot below. Performance seems better, but still degrades over time.

P.S. Just saw there is a new beta, I'll try it out, great hopes on this one

Agree with the views of rubs. For illustration workers, slight movements are difficult to observe and do not cause major problems. However, for UI designers, a small amount of error can have catastrophic consequences, such as incorrect size of the slices, alignment problems, and so on.
As a UI designer who uses Affinity Designer heavily, I have been forced to develop the habit of constantly alerting the size and position of objects, and I am very careful about every mouse click, because the mouse is too sensitive.
The problem of slight movements was raised a few years ago, and it did improve in later versions, but as rubs said, it has not been fully resolved. Long-running Affinity Designer will slow down, and the probability of a light-shift problem will increase dramatically.

rubs got a reaction from Mark Ingram in New bug: using mouse wheel for incrementing
In version 1.7, using the mouse wheel in certain fields does not increment with integer values anymore, at least when using 6-digit precision. Here's an example:

I hope that's clear for you to understand.

I also get the impression (going on how many problems there have been, for so long,  still awaiting resolution,) that Serif have bitten off more than they can chew, trying to develop three pieces of software, for three platforms, all at the same time!

Couldn't agree more with you both, @dok @rubs. It honestly scares me a little bit to see that this is how they handle issues that should be address in a short time. I was able to solve it using regular circles to replace the ones that were distorted, but with a more complex design I would have no choice but to use a different software. And to see how many resources and effort they are putting on developing the iPad version is not encouraging at all. I've got the impression they are leaving us aside  (at least for the moment).

Yes, Serif's feedback about software development is quite sparse. They must have some strong internal policy about this. I'm sure making things more transparent would benefit everyone.

The problem of leaking memory when switching workspaces or closing documents has now been fixed and will be available in the next beta (thanks to your original post). You'll probably find with the memory leak resolved the performance will be better again.

Specifically, where these performance improvements will be best noticed? There are several areas where AD need performance improvements. From the top of my mind: zooming, rendering (screen tiles / big pixels are visible), selecting and deleting objects, searching assets, startup, typing text, etc.

Okay, here are some of my problems with export and slices (some may be Windows-related only):
Continuous Export rarely works. In the Export persona, some paths (e.g. "..\Path\*") issue an error. Also paths like "C:\..." are not recognized and transformed to relative paths instead. There is a bug introduced some versions ago where changing an artboard's name does not change its corresponding slice name. The "multiple export values warning" icon lights up even with a single slice selected. Still no PDF multi-page exports. Thanks again for being so responsive, Ben!

I'll make this UberSuggestion once a year, okay?
Hoping it isn't too late in the cycle—the length of which is unknown, right?—to suggest...

If you want to conquer the world with AD, the world is not limited to Adobe Illustrator. Two Windows drawing programs—MAGIX Xara Designer and CorelDRAW—have some features and tools worth investigating/adopting/stealing.

The foremost one I'd like to see implemented is a truly context-sensitive right-click pop up menu.

The fewer trips away from my cursor, the better—you work faster when your tools are close at hand, in the same way you get more meat at dinner when the serving plate is closer to your fork. </attempt at humorous analogy>
Play "what if" with me for just a moment? The Shape tool is new and a really terrific too for someone who began with vector art in 1991 and had a "Line tool, deal with it" tool. But what if all the shapes could be accessed by a right click menu when the shape tool is clicked on?
And "what if" there was one editing tool for lines and control points, whose purpose is determined by holding Alt/Opt, Cmd?Ctrl? I've always learned new curse words when working in Illustrator with lines. Direct Select, Change Curve, Add Point, ya-dah-dah. All those tools are covered in Xara with one tool, and the commands are repeated on the context menu bar, somewhat redundantly. Quality over quantity.

    Again, just a suggestion.
I didn't get a pony for Christmas so I'm accustomed to disappointments.

    Happy 2019.
    Or Else.

I would say we don't expect them to deliberately withhold from fixing these issues, however there is a consensus that Designer is more or less forgotten, at least the desktop version. Yes we have the 1.7 update in the beta stream but that's been in works for a few months. If it were me I would postpone everything that relates to new features for a while and just fix what's already there so we don't get a Jack of all Trades, master of none software.
