  1. Oh, now I get it. So it's more like "Synchronize tools between currently open documents" then. "Subsequent documents" in your reply fooled me, sorry. Anyway I'll look into the Requests forum to check if anyone already asked to save some settings along with the documents which would be a great enhancement. Thanks again.
  2. So instead of "synchronizing", which is a bit of an overstatement, the checkbox actually means something like "use these as default settings for next documents". I suggest you include it in the help file (I believe it's not there) and perhaps think about better wording for it. Thanks for the explanation.
  3. A good friend of mine is a great graphics design professional and a respected professor. And he's color blind. So it's possible, yes.
  4. So you mean we can expect smaller Affinity files in the future? That's great, Ben. (Lossy is obviously out of question.)
  5. Maybe you should consider a H270/Z270 chipset. Unless you are also going to play games on it, the Z series is not much useful. I just built a system with an identical processor and a GA-H270M-D3H mobo. I also bought a NVIDIA Quadro P600, but I regret it because the performance gain is noticeable but negligible over the on-board Intel graphics. I'd also go for 16GB RAM (at least) and an SSD. Bear in mind that I use Affinity Designer, not Affinity Photo, although I believe they use the same drawing engine. Hope this helps somehow.
  6. The 1px/10px nudge distance is perfectly fine for UI work, but occasionally I need other settings for some unusual projects. I hoped that unticking the "Synchronize tools between documents" option just below "Nudge Distance / Modifier Nudge Distance" (in Preferences / Tools) would make settings particular to a document, but unfortunately this is not the case. So is this possible at all in Affinity Designer? And what does this option do? I found nothing about it in the documentation. Thanks!
  7. Also, using Save As sometimes reduces the file size because it discards unused data from the database, but all images are saved uncompressed nonetheless. It would be nice to have at least an option to compress the images as PNGs like most applications. This happens with Affinity Designer as well, since the file format is the same.
  8. I had some artwork produced with 1.6 which didn't open in 1.5. Fortunately nothing serious was lost, but I worry about future version updates. Xara Designer has a very nice approach to this: Any version can open any document, even if produced in a more recent edition. (Certain newer features may be lost, of course.) Would it be possible to implement forward compatibility like this in Affinity?
  9. Not tested it yet, but I'm glad to see the dev guys are back delivering these fixes so quickly! Keep up the great work.
  10. Yes, I keep track of many bugs which are not fixed yet, several of which are reported here in the forums already for some time. For exemple, there are serious problems with constraints, symbols and the Export persona, in addition to several performance issues, frequent crashes and many other issues. Can you tell us if these bugs are curently being addressed at all? Thanks.
  11. Hi Sean, Are you able to tell us if there are any other fixes besides the ones listed above? I mean the many problems already reported here in the forums. I'm reluctant to install this new beta because of the file compatibility issues. Thanks.
  12. Yes, working with tabs in AD is incredibly awkward and counter-intuitive. It's so time-consuming, I'm giving up. Even using separate columns of text instead of tabs is better. I wonder if you will consider adding a ruler like most sensible applications out there, since this is quite an obvious implementation (but it's not on your roadmap).
  13. Thanks, Sean. The Windows version has lots of bugs, frequent crashes and performance problems. Those are reported throughout the forums, I hope you're keeping track so you can fix them asap!
  14. Okay, so at least would it be possible to acknowledge the existence of this problem? I'm a bit frustrated with what I perceive to be a change in the way Serif responds to Windows customers, and how long it takes for some important bugs to be fixed. Of course I know you have many other of things to do, I just feel we Windows users need better and more frequent feedback since the software still has so many problems. Please don't take this as negative criticism. I also double as a software developer and I'm well aware of the complexity involved in those matters. Thanks in advance, and apologies for being off-topic!
  15. Knock knock... Anyone still supporting Windows here?
  16. And the same thing happens after typing a new value in the Transform panel and pressing Esc afterwards. Very annoying.
  17. Hi all, I've noticed that 1.6.0.71 beta added a new "feature": After moving an object with the keyboard arrows, pressing Esc to complete the action moves the object back to the original position. Was this intentional? I hope not. Every other software I know uses Esc to unselect objects. If you want to Undo, just use Ctrl+Z, not Esc. I hope they fix this in the next beta.
  18. I use constraints a lot (for UI design work) and it happens all the time. The best workaround I know of is to manually reset the constraints of all individual objects. An obvious bug that exists for a long time along with many others. Looks like Serif's priorities are elsewhere now. :(
  19. You may set pixel decimal places to 6 in Preferences > User Interface to see if your objects are actually aligned with integer pixels. Sometimes I found out that they weren't.
  20. Looks nice! (Specially the "numerous bug fixes and stability improvements" part.) It seems to address several user requests. I look forward to the Windows version.
  21. It would be interesting for you guys to take a look at the Bugs on Windows forum now, it's inundated with bug posts :)
  22. I think I found a way. For some reason, placing all groups inside a single group seems to accomplish this, at least in the tests I made. Go figure.
