  1. I also had a question regarding Plugins recently where a particular plugin apparently won’t work with Affinity Photo due to the plugin architecture not being currently supported. This issue of plugin support is becoming more of an issue as AP develops. I think we can only hope these restrictions will be addressed sooner rather than later so that AP’s usability can be expanded to utilise useful third party plugins. That said, current conditions ie pandemic are I’m sure slowing development down. I’m just hoping this issue is at the fore of their mind and not at the back.
  2. Just curious MEB, in what way does Affinity Photo not support custom UI panels? What’s different from say Filterforge, ON1 Photo Raw and DxO Nik collection, all of which have their own unique UI’s which work with Photo.
  3. Ah, thought that might be the case. Anyway thanks for response. I had already contacted the creator today and am waiting for a response. Is this something Affinity are likely to consider supporting at some point in order to expand AP’s creativity, be it all most of the effects can be achieved manually, just that I’d rather make life easier and quicker for myself where possible.
  4. Does anyone have a working idea as to whether “Oniric bloom and glare plugin” will work with Affinity Photo? At 119 dollars it’s a high risk if it doesn’t.
  5. There are plenty of printers on line that will allow you to download various templates however it is easy to set out your own template. Again plenty of info on paper sizes for various leaflets on line, just search trifold leaflet layout sizes or something similar. Other than that you could always ring any print company and they will usually be very happy to provide information.
  6. Careful if ever do go to catalina!! Make sure your software is fully 64bit compatible otherwise it won’t work. Adobe CS6 if you look says on the Mac list shows the Adobe software as 64bit except I think for InDesign. However, this is misleading as CS6 will not run in Catalina , period! So you would need to subscribe to Adobe’s creative suite. Still, if you have solved your issue, great, I just thought it might be worth bringing it to your attention if you were not already aware.
  7. Hi Slammer. Seems your not running on a current version of the OS Mac system. Your what, two versions back which might have a bearing on compatibility with this particular tablet make. I’ve never heard of this Gaomon tablet so did you research compatibility before purchasing? I’m assuming because it works, kind of, that it is compatible. Could be a number of reasons such as speed of system, not enough RAM or maybe too many apps open at same time. Did this tablet come with the latest drivers, check to see on the tablet website if you are up to date.
  8. Just a thought Sarahlk, with my Huion tablet and with most tablets I believe you should have An app which will allow you to change the area, sensitivity and angle etc to your liking. Have you used this app to see if it makes any difference?
  9. I have a Huion tablet with no problems on an iMac 27 inch running 10.15.6 so I don’t think it’s something to do with affinity photo. Might be a problem with the particular make of tablet.
  10. Back when Publisher launched I highlighted the restrictive nature of only being able to have a two page spread. As a designer for some years I have designed many creative page layout designs where more than two page spreads were used and where page sizes varied ie folds etc. Last time I had plenty of feedback saying, but you can do this and do that as a workaround. Anybody having worked or is working in a professional commercial environment will tell you, you don’t have the luxury of time to fart around with workarounds. You have to be able to use your tools straight out of the box and concentrate on the design process and client deadlines, not having to look for compromises and workarounds with your tools.InDesign has had this flexibility in page layout for sometime, in 2020 it should not be something we should be begging for, it should have always been there at launch. Please Serif don’t just concentrate on publishers of books and niche artists, let’s start having some real world support for mainstream commercial creative designers. Don’t get me wrong, I support Serif and have done since they launched the Affinity range of professional software back in what, 2014, but my usage to date has been restricted to fairly straightforward designs due entirely to the softwares missing elements throughout the range. Despite much feedback on this subject over the past, I haven’t seen any meaningful feedback from Serif themselves. Would be nice to have at the very least some acknowledgement from Serif that they recognise the issue. I also acknowledge that this year has been a challenge for many companies so I’m not unsympathetic to Serif having been maybe pushed back in development but please Serif, let us see some more focus on the creative commercial environment.
  11. Still don’t know why Serif have only produced a hard back version. A digital version would be more easy to keep updated as versions include changes etc.
  12. I recently came across a very useful piece of software made to work with Photoshop called “infinite color panel”. I contacted them to see what their reaction would be to making their product work with Affinity software. As it is an extension and not a plug-in there needs to be some inter-cooperation between Serif developers and the developers of infinite color panel to make it work. I got a very favourable response which I set out here: Pratik here! It's actually something that I've been looking into! At the moment they offer plugin support, and it's a little different than extensions. However, as we keep rolling we're keeping a close eye on it because I know just how much of an impact they're making in the industry as it keeps adapting!I want to see them succeed and think with a few changes they could easily get into direct competing territory! I may reach out to them to get a direct line of contact! So, it’s over to you Serif Affinity crew to engage and to make Affinity software more attractive to third party devs.
  13. Ah! As neofinder is fairly new to me don’t know if neofinder has a windows version.
  14. If you are Mac you might want to try ‘neofinder’ as dam software. I’m a designer not a photographer so not sure if it would be comprehensive enough for your needs but its a suggestion. I used to use ‘Pixave’ but seems the developers have given up on it as it won’t work very well in mac OS Catalina anymore.
  15. Yes I know this fde101 that’s what I’m saying, all gradients in your main swatch tab should also be available in FX. Why do you say FX doesn’t support gradients? It says quite clearly “gradient overlay” so again, all gradients in your main swatches tab should also be available in the FX tab otherwise why have a tab name “gradient overlay. If I go to FX and want to apply a gradient, I don’t want to have to make up gradients from scratch when I already have a large number of ready made gradients. I’m sure access will come soon.
  16. hi all I think you all have not understood my post. I was referring to the fact that I have a number of custom gradient palettes in AP which I can access from the main swatches tab but I couldn't access them from anywhere else. The new AP beta has now actually added the ability to access my custom gradient palettes from the gradient tool swatch tab so this is new!! Still can't access them from the FX panel though. Hope this makes thinks clearer and perhaps it won't be long before they add the ability to access from within the FX gradient panel.
  17. A short while ago during the beta version phase I posted a problem (again! as I've raised this before in the past) which AP has had since it's inception. You cannot get access to gradients in your colours palette within FX or anywhere else for that matter. I do wish Affinity would resolve this issue. It's frustrating having gradient lists and not being able to use them universally. Anyone on the dev team got any answers here please. I did hope this issue may have been resolved before releasing 1.8.2 but it's still there. I like by the way the Affinity range is developing although, most improvements have been fixes and not development of further features. Still, best get underlying operational issues out of the way first hey!. Looking forward to possible implementation of some missing features in the next 12 months or before that some of us have been highlighting such as being able to create true duotones/tritones, colour matching etc (although can do manually but time consuming) plus shape builder/pattern creation handling or something similar for AD. Implementation of PSD smart objects in AP a great move forward.
  18. How is it that ever since version 1.4 you have never been able to access your full list of gradients in the fx panel, gradient overlay? You can get straight colours to show from your list but not gradients. I have flagged this up a couple of times since Affinity came to market but still after all this time I’m still not able to access. Affinity, can you please sort this. We should be able to access the full gradient list from all areas where gradients windows are shown.
  19. Ah, it looks like it’s just a windows beta at the moment. Presumably 1.8 beta will follow for Mac in the near future.
  20. Where are users getting beta 1.8 versions from for both AP and AD? I’ve not seen or heard anything about new betas being released. Anyone else heard anything?
  21. Can the dev team tell me why we can’t access preset gradients In AP via the fx panel. It’s a constant frustration not being able to access my own presets. Also being able to access my own LUT’s is one thing but not being able to bring up a list to be able cycle through each LUT to see each effect is another production work frustration. I’m hoping that these issues will possibly be looked at as part of the next update. I’m no developer but these, at least on the surface, don’t seem major issues to resolve, you may well tell me different. Anyway I’m flagging these issues up that need improvement.
  22. Hi F401z74 There is no knife tool in Affinity Designer at the moment but is on the road map to be implemented soon, maybe next update.
  23. Whilst I am really pleased with Affinity Publisher as a whole I still find the page setup frustrating as hell. I just wish we could setup more than a 2 page spread and be able to change individual page sizes and be able to manually shuffle pages when laying out brochures etc. Yes I know comments from some on the forum say, well just add extra page width and use guides. Yes you can but it’s not a procedure which you should need to adopt in 2019. I just hope this is something Affinity will look at again soon. with regard to AP, again I am using this a lot but not yet exclusively. Why because at the moment AP can’t produce true duotone or tritones. Colour matching ability still not there yet. Also compositing, its a pain not being able to apply multi directional mask without having to use a separate mask for each direction....Ahh!! I love AP and my Adobe CS6 is very clunky and slow to respond theses days but I’m really hoping the AP will adopt these functions soon. AD is great but I must admit the main time I will use AD is for logo design. Now that a lot of the re-coding has been achieved, I’m hopeful that further improvements in the software won’t be so long in coming since Affinity should now have more time to focus on improving the usability of the suite. I have been one of your most, i hope constructive critics but hats off guys and gals, doing a grand job.
