  1. Yeah I've made a post of this too. In Photoshop you have the option to increase the size of the layer thumbnail, hopefully in the future this option will be added to AP.
  2. Hi LilleG I don't know what version of OS your using but I'm using OS Sierra and sure as hell it doesn't open up any dialog box. That said, if you have to use shift+f5 to bring up a dialog box and then select a colour then that is not a short key cut, I can do that by going to edit and then down to fill. If you are familiar with Photoshop then you will know that hitting the shift key + delete applies the current pallette colour direct. you don't have to go to any dialog box. Now that is a quick key process which at present does not exist in AP. Strange though that hitting shift+F5 for you brings up a dialog box in AP, on my system it simply slides the current system window off screen and hitting it again brings the window back into view so I'm not quite sure why the keys work differently unless it has to do with the way in which OS Sierra works as opposed to previous versions. The DEV team have already said that a short key like in Photoshop does not exist at present in AP. Hopefully in the not too distant future it will be there. Thanks for your comments, its always interesting to see the differences in the handling of Affinity software from person to person. Everybody seems to have different experiences.
  3. The reason I raised this request in the first place Hokusai was precisely because that key shortcut does not work on an iMac keyboard.
  4. If I read you right you are after creating a shadow of the whole person. If that's the case then create a copy of the cutout person and position underneath, go to fx and apply a colour overlay to black and apply a blur if needs be and position in place of your choosing. If you want to apply shadow along the ground then use transform to get the right angle and positioning. Hope this helps.
  5. Can we have a keyboard shortcut key that applies a colour fill to a selection in AP as in Photoshop. In order to fill a selection in Photoshop you use "shift/delete and this applies the selected colour to that selection. This would enhance the user experience and workflow of AP. By the way i'm a Mac OS user. Thanks
  6. Hi Chris, yeah I get the fill dialog up ok, that's fine but I was assuming, maybe wrongly that the short key tag when pressed together would fill a selected area with the current defined colour as does Photoshop when you press Shift/delete. Surely a keyboard short cut should be applied that works on all standard professional design keyboards. I have an iMac keyboard and the short key does not work on that and I would have thought it should as a good many professionals will be using an iMac. This is software that's supposed to be aimed at professionals. This is a minor issue which seems to have become a tad complicated, all I want to do is have a quick way to fill a selection as I said as in Photoshop, is that possible in AP?
  7. Thanks for your patience. I clearly miss read your instructions first time, now works a treat.
  8. Hi Chris, under edit, fill, you see short keyboard key Shift F5. If this is a Windows short keyboard function what's it doing in the mac version. Something is not right here is it. This needs investigating. In Photoshop the short key is shift/delete to fill colour. Could do with same in AP. Let me know what's going on please.
  9. Hi I'm having trouble with saving gradients. I thought I had got it but I've followed your instructions but it seems that if you try to save a gradient, all it does is save a load of colour swatches that make up the gradient which is not what I'm after. I want to be able to save the gradient as a gradient swatch, not a palette full of colours. This should be so super easy to save a gradient swatch for later use but it's proving to be a hard job. I'm not sure if you understood what my original question. I simply want to be able to create a gradient and then save it as a swatch within the gradient drop down pallete. Can you tell me again how to save a created gradient as a swatch, not a palette full of colours that make up the gradient please.
  10. I have made a post about this a short while ago but got no real answer. The short keyboard function "Shift F5" to colour fill does not work on my iMac running OS X sierra. All it does is slides the window off screen and back on again but does not seem to have anything to do with colour fill. This wouldn't be a windows short keyboard function would it? Feedback please on this issue.
  11. With all due respect my friend I do see these panels, my comments were that they are not effective enough even at full strength. I am a photoshop designer of some years and often have to produce effective lighting results from car headlights, street lamps, sunshine rays in photo manipulation and illustration. The blur effect, even at full strength does not dissipate far enough out and tends to end too abruptly that's why you have to repeat the blur in order to push the effect out more. You should not have to do this. In short the zoom blur needs to be able to push out the effect more from the slider. As for some of the other blur effects, some are ok but there are also some which I, and I say personally don't see the point of in their current form. It's not that I don't see the difference with the other blur filters, it's more that they are too similar in results. So for me, as good as AP is, it has some catching up to do in the effects department and means I have to stick with Photoshop for now until I can be sure that commercially It can cope with the creative demands of professional image manipulation and illustration.
  12. The Media Browser does not appear to recognize all vector ai or eps images that you have stored, it only seems to show the odd one or two but seems to only want to show jpeg images. I have a reasonably large number of vector images. Also the browser has no way of filtering by category i.e showing say only jpeg images or eps/ai or svg etc etc and does not show all images at once in those folders and sub folders. By this I mean that it will only show images by clicking every single image folder and so you have to troll through every folder and sub folder to see what in it. This is hugely time consuming and frustrating. I have looked to see if I have missed any preference setting etc but as far as I can see there is no way to get it to recognize content of all folders and sub folders as does Adobe Bridge. It would be a real time saver to follow the example of Adobe Bridge instead of having to go through every folder and sub folder to find something. Come on Guy's please look at this again, a designers time is precious. As AP is in Beta 1.5.0 (RC4) at the moment, maybe this is a good time to sort this before final release.
  13. Can we please have a facility to save new profiles in FX 3D /Emboss. If it's never likely that we as users are going to be able to save profiles, at least give us more profiles as is in Photoshop. Currently the small number of profiles inhibits creativity. I'm sure such a small feature wouldn't take much to implement and would enhance the creative ability of AP. Then again I'm not a programmer.
  14. Hello, anybody out there team!! Do you get how useful saving profiles would be for creating and saving as styles. If we as users can't save profiles how about increasing the number of profiles as you can apply in Photoshop. Profiles in AP are very limited at the moment which inhibits creativity.
  15. Ah! Forget the last observation. Had a real senior moment. Haven't a clue why I said that, must have thought I was using AD. Never mind hey! Keep taking the tablets.
  16. Something else I've just noticed in AP 1.5.0 (RC4) is the outline colour ring and fill roundals both in the tool bar and in the colour window on the right are both the same unlike in AD. You can't distinguish between which is which.
  17. Apologises but have another observation here. I have created a gradient using the gradient tool, then I have gone across to the swatch window and clicked on the particular gradient and clicked on the palette icon to add it to my application gradient palette. Now all I get is a one colour palette showing, it does not show as a gradient. Is this a bug?
  18. Another small question. If I decide I don't want to keep a gradient, how do I delete it. I can only see a way to delete the whole palette?
  19. Ok got that now thanks. Is it something the team might consider adding to the layer effects?
  20. Can you explain how you would normally go about creating your own gradients and then saving them as a preset. I would normally do this in Photoshop via the FX - gradient overlay and saving as a new gradient overlay preset. As there are so many gradients available for Photoshop but not for AP at present I'm thinking that I could just copy a gradient from Photoshop i.e noting the percentage nodes along the gradient line and colour info and then replicating that in AP. Although it works to a point by appearing to save in the tool bar gradient, you then don't appear to be able to access those saved gradients via FX. Seems to me much more logical to be able as in Photoshop to access, create and save as a preset in a preset editor so it's always there. Another thing, Photoshop has a smooth facility in FX gradient which is not available in AP and thus the gradient transitions are not as smooth even when adjusting the slider nodes. Your comments team would be appreciated on this topic. Maybe I'm overlooking something here.
  21. I don't know if anybody else is unable to use this key shortcut but I can't use the key shortcut for colour fill (Shift +F5) on mac. Ideas please why this does not work. In Photoshop it is Shift +delete, would be good if we had the same in AP.
  22. After having done a couple of test projects I must concede that the blend curve results are superior to Photoshop. I'm always open to being challenged. The team are on track, well done lads....and girls (just in case).
